TERRIBLE GYM - I resisted the urge to post this but I have to. The manager there made me feel small, and worthless. Heres the story. I used to go to this gym when I was a television reporter and I was super skinny. people were nice and helpful. Well last year I fell into the worse depression of my life and gained 100 pounds. I decided to go to Onelife to get healthy. I got a membership in March. Something has changed there. It is either me because I got fat or them. I was treated way different. For starters I asked to be signed up for my free sessions twice. On one ocassion the trainer said he couldnt schedule me because it "wasnt his job" . It was 8:00 a.m. in the morning, the only time I felt comfortable going in my fat skin, and he couldnt do it. Life was getting difficult financially and I wanted to end my membership I went in even though I was uncomfortable and a manager there said , "I dont have time for this. I have a corporate account." So I guess that is more important than us regular guests. I did not have the money to break the contract and I was getting desperate. so I called again. This time a female account representative told me I could get out of my psychiatrist send a letter to them. She also sent me to the manager who went onto say he was a big guy in town, sensitive to mental health, and studied sociology. He bashed Gold Gyms which I love, and so on. I got the paperwork from my psychiatrist and I took it in the Onelife myself. I also told them since they were so rude I wanted a refund, I was told Id get that. When I gave the paper to the manager at the front desk he shoved it in my face. "I dont need this" I said but you asked for it. I felt like he was trying to get rid of me. I felt so terrible that I cried in the cry. I never got a receipt, and I never got that refund that was promised to me. I live with depression and anxiety. This was so wrong on so many levels. I tweeted about it and Onelife corporate talked to me but had no soultions. All I say is BUYER BEWARE and if you dont have too dont piss off that manager. he is quite mean.

Not worth the price, especially with the amount of broken equipment everywhere. After my yearly contract expired, I was relieved to be done with One Life. I was tired of finding broken treadmills, missing weight, and malfunctioning machines during my workouts. At first, I would tell the staff about the machines, but I finally just gave up and modified my workouts when I came across anything that didnt work. All the staff would do is put a sign on the junky gear, then "repair" it. It became apparent that the gym is more interested in getting the contracts signed than actually replacing dilapidated gear. Another problem is with the trainers. The male trainers are scrawny and arrogant and really, really annoying. If you are trying to overdevelop your pecs and get the hunched over look, then they are perfect, but if you want a solid, balanced workout from a trainer who looks fit, then these trainers are not for you. I watched them train people day after day with horrible dated techniques and methods. To be fair, the trainers at the Norfolk location are much better. The equipment however, is about the same. The gym gets very crowded during peak times, which is to be expected and not a huge problem, as long as you can find serviceable gear. There is also a HUGE issues with campers, people who sit on equipment and chat instead of working out. Thats not really the gyms fault, but it is irritating when you have to change your workout to accommodate a broken piece of equipment, and some moron is sitting on the only working shoulder press machine chatting it up. The only good thing I can say about this franchise is, although the equipment is bad, they have 5 (I believe) locations, so you likely have one close by, if you dont mind bad equipment and high prices.

I have been coming to this OneLife for over a year now. I actually used to go to the one at Chesapeake Square and although it was great, I enjoy this one more simply because of the customer service and the people that work here! The childcare center and all of the ladies that work in ther have been so wonderful with my children and helping them adjust! My little guy loves it now!! The front desk is always so great with anything I need, always speaking to me and my little ones when we come in, and have great customer service personalities! Ben is so nice and personable! I used to mostly see him, recently Mel and Liz are who I see most and I love them just as much. I work in customer service QA so it is always nice to go to another place of business and be greeted by people who are personable and enjoyable while doing their jobs. I come in pretty early so for them to be so upbeat and helpful in anyway is wonderful! It is always nice to vibe with great people and their personalities and thats how I am greeted everyday coming into this OneLife so that truly makes it enjoyable for me. I am taking the time to write this review because I work QA and I think it is important for management to know that their front desk staff is doing their job so wonderfully, simply because they are the faces people see when first coming into your establishment! So please know that these things do not go unnoticed! Great job guys! I also love the amount of classes offered here as well! Big plus!

Holy customer service rudeness!! One particular Greenbrier staff member, Melissa, is by far the most unprofessional, rude and obnoxious customer service/front desk associate I have ever encountered! She definitely needs a lesson or two.... or ten in self-control and customer service! Today, while trying to tan, we had a minor disagreement over $4, again.. 4 lousy dollars.. and it wasnt even about the money; it was about the principle. So, trying to get to tanning, I continue to sign myself in, and she continues to ramble on. Since I obviously had ZERO interest in listening to or speaking to her, I ignored her, making no eye contact. This clearly irritated her :D and she yells, " Uhhh, HEEEELLLLLOOOO!?" at me. In shock, I look up at her like what the hell did you just say to me!? So, she continues to squak at me, calling ME rude, saying I needed to pay attention to her when shes talking and yelling in front of my four-year-old daughter. Thankfully, the manager came over and she shut up. Other than her annoying voice, lack of professionalism, lack of respect and customer service skills, the gym is great and offers a lot of classes, tanning and equipment. Will, the manager, is also great, very professional and welcoming.

I would give zone 4 a 5 because I love the program and if I had to give the gym itself a rating, it would be a 3 and thats being generous due in part to the personal trainer, Shannon. Zone 4 is amazing and changes every day and the support that I get from Nicole is exceptional. She gets to know her clients on a personal level and its not just a job, its a passion for her and it shows. The little things that she does for us speak volumes as to how much she values us as customers! The gym itself has "accidentally" taken almost $1000 out of my account all at once and double charged me on a few occasions so they need to get that stuff under control but overall it offers what I need but if they didnt have zone 4 or the personal trainers, especially Shannon, I would no longer be a client. Shannon goes above and beyond for her clients as well. I just feel like this location lacks in customer service but the few people that I work with, are exceptions because they have phenomenal customer service skills. I truly recommend zone 4 to anyone looking for personal training style workouts but not the price.
