The saying goes....What is a good haircut? Two weeks after you have it done. NONSENSE! I SAY! A good haircut looks good, as soon as you have it done and the next morning when you style it yourself without all the glue, sprays, gels, etc....most stylists use these days. For some, any cut will do. For me, a DO is an extension of my personality. A stylist should have this in mind. Perhaps you have had a similar experience? ... For well over a decade I have been looking for a stylist who creates not by matching a picture book or some absurd notion in some fashion magazine, the latest cut learned in school, using scissors djour, but creates a style appropriate to the person and the medium presented - my personality, my head of hair and my essence. The stumble of my search has led to a series of "Sure, no problem., blah, blah, blah" into weak and sometimes disaster cuts and always, ALWAYS needing my own adjustment as soon as I left the salon or led astray using some hair altering product and being left unhappy. And, I might say at a pretty penny to boot! I am a minimalist, hate heavy product on my hair, love my hair color "Platinum", and frankly do not have the time to fuss and, yes, I am styling tool challenged. Still searching?.... I came to Salon Alure, based on reviews, a desire to support our local economy and at a price I could afford, entering with a mess on my head being too short, too crocked and too someone else. Being a bit of an artist/science nerd, I welcome a discussion on the philosophy behind the cut with my hairstylist, a topic many are too shy or unclear to embrace. Much to my surprise and my glee, Harman consulted with me on everything from soup to nuts in a relative short period of time, sharing life experiences, what I desired in the work place, home place and play place to how my hair grew and the shape of my face and head and how I carried myself. All were considered in the approach and technique for my hair style. His philosophy supports the website comment, "qualitative dimension to personal appearance." Harmon corrected and molded a solution of which I am extraordinarily pleased and a style from which we can expand in future styling. Harman made suggestions on varied styling with minimal work for this busy professional woman, or I could simply leave it alone. I finally have a cut, where I dont have to do a thing. I mean nothing at all. Or, I can choose to do very little to get many different looks. I look forward to my hair growing out so Harman and I can do more. Harman has decades of experience, is professional and focused on his work and a personality that harmonizes with mine. His staff is pleasant and professional with many other stylist on board. The salon is a clean environment with a added therapeutic touch, such as a head massage during the shampoo, seat/back massage units in the waiting area chairs, tea/coffee/water during your visit and a specific environmentally conscious and natural product line. We are all unique and a sculptor will bring out our essence. Go to Salon Alure - your search is over... Make this day, YOUR DAY! VOILA! I FOUND MY SCULPTOR! WHAT A RELIEF! THANK YOU!

Back in February I had the pleasure of visiting this salon for an appointment with the owner, Harmon, and I can honestly say that Ive never been more pleased with the services!! I was extremely hesitant to have my hair done; it had been 8 months since my last hair cut and over two years since I colored my hair. Now, I am 32 years old with a one year old and aim for very low maintenance, usually pulling my long, thick hair back almost everyday. I told Harmon that I was ready for a change...something lighter maybe and just a few inches off the bottom but definitely a change! I had many negative experiences with hair color and highlighting in the past but he made me feel right at ease. He actually LISTENED to what I wanted, based on describing my everyday life and what I wanted to achieve. He can tell you that I was really nervous about the full highlight but he took his time and told me not to worry....and Ive never been happier!! I waited to write this review b/c I wanted to see how his hair color line held up as its been about 6 weeks and it still looks fantastic. Everyone compliments on how natural the color is...and after 32 years I can safely say that I wear my hair down now everyday! I look forward to my follow up appointment with him next month and encourage any body to use his salon services. Everything about the experience was wonderful!!!

Dye-job gone wrong? Harman is the MAN to see. I went in with dark blonde ombre to light blonde requesting a red (ala Greys Anatomy star/Debra Messing red) color. The color the stylist chose for me was brown with just a tad of red in it and was not near what I had asked for. I called back and the owners immediately made it right. He scheduled me the next day (his day OFF) and came in to fix it. Gave me highlights and covered with his new line of Eco Harmony Color in a light bronzy-red. I waited a few days to put the review on here to see how the color took to my hair. The red stayed in the top part which was heavily highlighted. The color still looks vibrant; due to my ombre (my hair-not his color) and the damage my hair has been through, the ends have went back to brown. I plan on scheduling another appointment this week to get my lower half of my hair highlighted and glossed with Eco so I dont have two different shades. Bottom line, owners and salon are wonderful and take care of their customers. New Eco Harmony line and Aveda products are just a plus. :) Thank you Harman and Family, I will see you again soon!

Today I called to make an appointment at Salon Alure based on its reviews. It had been more than 2 months since my last cut and color after moving to Virginia so my hair was in bad shape. I really needed professional input on the hair color for my fair skin and the right style for the shape of my face. Harmon asked me several questions, studied my face, and discussed his thoughts with me. After I approved the plan, we moved forward. Harmon asked periodically how I liked my hair as he progressed so I felt very comfortable. He showed me how to style it so I could achieve the same look at home. I felt like a new person when I left. The real test was my husband and kids response when I got home - they loved it and said I looked great! Not only did I get great hair but I felt like I had a mini massage while I was there - the hairdryer chair had a massage back as well as the shampoo person gave a head/neck massage. My hair feels lite and bouncy from Salon Alures own Eco Harmony Color product line.

I was invited to be a model for Darcy. I am finally happy with my look thanks to Harman and Darcy. The color is spectacular. My hair is shiny. Wherever I go, people remark how much they like my hair and how shiny it is. My style went from an overdone bob to an edgy short cut. What I like most - they listen, confirm, ask, and do what I want and what I like. And . . .I was just a model. After years of fighting color fade, drying texture, and a generally unpleasant style, I had given up and hardly cared. They have made a believer out of me. I feel pretty again. The color stays consistent, does not fade, and required no touch-up.My hair is soft and manageable and my style stays good for more than 4 weeks. The washing experience is second to none - I had the best wash Ive ever had - gentle, through, with a fabulous massage. The chair in which I waited to process the color was a massage chair. My back no longer hurts (first time in months). Highly recommend this salon.
