Finding the "right" daycare for your child is stressful. There are so many important questions. Will my child be safe? Will they be loved? Will they learn? Will they be happy? Is this a place where I can feel good about leaving my child when I go to work. Thankfully, Common Ground is amazing! We found Common Ground two years ago. Our oldest daughter was attending a different daycare in Reston, and we werent thrilled with the environment -- lots of teacher turnover, limited curriculum, and a lot of bad attitudes. It started to wear on our daughter, and we started the hunt for a new facility. We were so lucky to find Common Ground. Common Ground has GREAT teachers (the infant room teachers have been there since the late 80s... You never find that kind of tenure at a daycare!), a loving and supportive environment, a great curriculum, and most importantly, our daughters love it! We are constantly surprised at what our daughters are learning, saying, and singing. We are so lucky to have found Common Ground and so lucky to have found the right daycare for our family! Bottom line, we highly recommend Common Ground to any parents looking for quality daycare in the Reston area.

Common Ground is a loving, family-oriented day care, preschool, and school-age center with an enriching environment that we are SO happy to be part of. My daughter (almost 7) started there as an infant and attended full-time through pre-school and Pre-K; she now attends before FCPS school and during school breaks. She and her classmates were all thoroughly prepared for elementary school…and she is consistently happy about going to CG. My son (now 3) also started as an infant and is having the same great experience. CG has wonderful, experienced teachers that have been there for 10, 15, 20 years plus! Furthermore, as working parents, my husband and I appreciate that Common Ground follows the federal government for holidays and closures/delayed openings (unlike most other preschools/day cares in the area, which follow Fairfax County Public School). This policy has saved us both SO many hours of vacation time over the past few years. I highly recommend the center for anyone looking for a loving, kids-first school that exceeds children AND parents needs and expectations.

We came to Common Ground when my older daughter (now 6) was 16 months old after a horrible experience at KinderCare in Reston. Common Ground restored my faith in daycare and I cannot thank them enough for the incredible care they have provided us. The center is truly a family and when I had my 2nd daughter (now 3), there was no question that she would also attend Common Ground. As a non-profit, the bottom line is not the most important thing. Instead, the focus is all on the children. There is incredibly low staff turnover which is rare in the daycare industry and some of the teachers have been there for over 20 years. The day to day operations are run by the director but the center is ultimately run by a board of trustees and parents are encouraged to serve on the board, so they have a lot of say in what goes on in the daycare. Through the many parent volunteer opportunities, I have made some really good friends during our time here. I am so glad we found Common Ground!

After visiting other centers in Reston when our son was born, we settled on Common Ground Child Care because the sincere care the teachers had for the children was palpable. Several of the staff have been there for more than a decade and there was nothing corporate about it. They love working there. Their philosophy has been for more than 35 years to "provide high-quality child care to all segments of the community." This means there is no discrimination in their enrollment and our children are exposed to different cultures and beliefs. We love that! The center is the perfect size. They dont try to pack children in like some other centers. Theyre non-profit. They stick to the NAEYC student/teacher ratios. If youre looking, contact their director to get on their waiting list.

My son started at this center when he was 3 months old. He is now approaching 6 months old, and I am forced to withdrawl him because my husband is being transferred to Hawaii. The only thing that disappoints me about that move is the knowledge that I will never find a child care center as great as this one. It does not have the bells and whistles of a brand new center with thousands of dollars in new playground equipment, but it does have what I believe are the best staff available and an environment that feels like home. I feel as comfortable leaving my son there as I do having him at home. The infant caregivers have been there forever, and they have done wonderful things to aid in my sons fantastic development. I would recommend the center to anyone.

Both of our children attend Common Ground and have been there since they were 3 months old. The teachers and staff at Common Ground create a wonderful loving environment where they thrive and learn. Our oldest is in the pre-school class and is learning so much, as well as enjoys making special projects, attending field trips and playing with his friends. The love that the teachers have for the children allows working parents to feel comfortable that they’re in a nurturing environment. I would highly recommend this daycare for any families in the Reston/Herndon area.

I visited several day care centers in the Reston area before choosing Common Ground. I choose CG primarily because of their amazing staff. Most of the staff members have been there for more than 10 years. I was especially impressed with the baby room, both ladies have been there 25+ years. My office is close by and my hours are such that I can pop in at various times of the day, unannounced, and I am always pleased with what I see. Happy kids playing, structured activities, staff involved and engaged with the kids. I highly recommend Common Ground Child Care Center.

Guilt-free loving daycare.... Our son has been at Common Ground since he was 5 months old and he is now 3 years old. We love it for the following reasons - the staff are very warm and nurturing (youll always see the staff hugging the kids there), the staff are diverse (our son has had teachers from Japan, China, Somalia, the Caribbean, and Latin America), the kids learn Spanish, and its very accommodating to varying parental schedules. It feels a bit like family.

I choose Common Ground because it was a center with a staff that have been there for many years who care and love the children. The center has a strong desire to make the kids feel at home and do the best they can for the kids.

The caregivers are so sweet and so experienced. The fact that most of the caregivers have been there for 10+ years really speaks to how well this center is run.
