My girlfriend once quoted to me "planning a wedding is like a loco-motive train, it starts out slow and gradually moves faster and then theres no turning back. Then it comes to a screeching STOP at the ceremony". I respected her words more and more in the planning of my daughters wedding. After all the hard work on every ones end, Bride, Groom, all of the parents, the very BEST part of the planning goes to STEVE MUNDAY from Creative Cuisines!! He is the perfect balance of Professionalism with a Personal touch. He is sincerely interested in the bride and grooms wishes and mirroring those wishes with his creative capabilities. On my end (mother of the bride), he comforted me during my "Stressful Bliss". He offered ideas and suggestions along the way, not even pertaining to the food and I used every recommendation! Thanking God for him. Getting to the main event as far as the reception and the catering. We were ULTIMATELY pleased with everything! Our guest summed up our experience. To name a few "THE BEST FOOD I EVER HAD AT A WEDDING", THE FOOD WAS UNBELIEVABLE AND PLENTY OF IT", THE VARIETY OF FOOD WAS AMAZING", WOW, YOU CAN THROW A PARTY" !! I was more than delighted to hear the excitement from my guest. My daughter and new son-in-law said "Thanks Mom". MY Thanks goes to Creative Cuisine, Steve Munday and all of his staff. My daughters wedding was a sensational hit! And for that I am very Grateful!!

Initially, I felt very confident in this company. The key word being "initially." The food was, at best….okay. Well, most of the food. I was completely disappointed in the desserts especially. Theyre chocolate cake is TERRIBLE. I would have been better off making it myself, and I am no baker. Also, the courses before that were about lukewarm when served. On top of that, I found a curly brown hair on my pork. After that, I gave up completely. When I finally left, I happened to walk by the kitchen. I could easily identify the chef due to his authoritative and pompous attitude, I also noted his full head of curly brown hair. I was so put out by my experience that I took the time to call the company and voice my opinion. I guess we could say that was a mistake. I had to call several times before I could even get in touch with the owner. From the moment he answered he was rude, condescending, and completely unprofessional. I couldnt believe he had the nerve to speak to me in that manner. Unless youre willing to risk complete and utter disappoint I suggest you look elsewhere for any catering needs.

Like others have stated Chef Steve isnt the most professional person. Im sure he is a great chef and knows food well. I emailed him to inquire about catering my wedding. Told him my fiancee is Asian and if he could do Asian style meals. He replies back saying " No disrespect intended, when you said your fiance is Asian Im sure you are aware there are many cultures that fall under the heading of Asian" Yes, thank you Chef Steve, I had no idea. I thought asking the broader question was fine as some places cant prepare any Asian dishes. A simple yes I can make the following or I can and are there certain dishes you want would be a better reply. My fiancee tried to contact him by email to ask more questions. He just sent an attachment the same one he sent me and said read the attachment then we will talk. In my opinion he is pretty rude and doesnt have the right skills to be in a customer service atmosphere. He does get excellent scores on Wedding Wire where I found him and Im pretty disappointed in his attitude. Seems others have had similar experiences on here.

I am giving Creative Cuisines five stars based on the quality, quantity, and creativity of the food. Chef Steve worked very hard to accommodate the special requests my daughter and her fiance had. They wanted a reception that reflected her Virginia roots, his Louisiana roots, and multiple countries they had visited (e.g., England, France, Turkey, Mongolia and South Africa). He developed a menu that incorporated specific dishes they wanted plus others that he recommended. The result was a fantastic experience that met their hopes. I found Chef Steve to be very professional with respect to his craft. The area where he could use an assistant - as evidenced in some other reviews - is communication with clients. He puts in many hours to produce an excellent meal; however, that does not leave him enough time to email or call as often as you might like. That being said, he was focused on our event when the time came, and did communicate more frequently the last two weeks. The final details were ironed out, and our guests were profuse in their praise.

As other reviewers have indicated, Steve is an extremely unpleasant personality. Do not work with him under any circumstances. My fiancee and I live in California, and we are getting married in Virginia. We changed our flight plans in order to accomodate Steves schedule for a tasting several months before the wedding, and Steve, my fiancee and I had all exchanged emails to confirm the date. A week and a half before the tasting, we emailed Steve to finalize the details for the tasting. It turns out that Steve, without informing us, had accepted another gig for that evening and could not make the event. So, we changed our travel plans from California to Virginia for Steve, and he didnt have the common courtesy to let us know that his plans had changed. He then emailed us to let us know that his comfort level with us was low (ha!). Do not work with Steve or Creative Cuisines under any circumstances. He will inevitably disappoint.

I have worked with Creative Cuisines and Chef Steve Munday for over 20 years hosting dinners and special events in our home - everything from formal dinner parties for 10 to a casual WM college reunion party for 350 and everything in between. I love his varied and innovative menu. Vegetarian? No problem. Gluten-free options? No problem. He and his staff are wonderful - always professional and courteous. Hes a pleasure to work with on menus and budgets. I just held a post-wedding bridal brunch for 60+ people and set the details a month ahead - then knew I didnt need to follow-up because I trusted Steve and his staff to show up and do what they do best. There are other very good catering companies in Williamsburg and Ive had at the pleasure of working them as well, but Creative Cuisines is always my first call when Im thinking of hosting and know I cant (or shouldnt!) do everything myself.

I tried to use Personal Chef Steve and his company for catering, but rather than being helpful or kind, he put my family and I down for not being able to afford to bump up our budget. A simple "no" would have sufficed, but instead he ridiculed us in front of everyone at a Wedding Show. Upon an email letting him know how unprofessional this was (rather than posting a review, which I did not want to do), he emailed me back to let me know that my "vegetarian diet isnt working, look in the mirror." Totally out of context and unforgivable. I would caution any future bride against utilizing the service of this clearly insecure and unprofessional man. If his food was any good, it is certainly overshadowed by his clear inadequacy in the personal context.
