I have never done a online review before but feel compelled to after the experience my wife and myself had at Ishtar this last weekend. First to put this in perspective my wife and myself were on one of our weekend road trips and were looking for lunch. I had my wife pipe in Greek Food in her phone to locate a place for lunch. The closest was Ishtar less than a mile away, We had never been there before but we love trying new restaurants and I love Greek food, it fit the bill, upon arrival I must say nothing on the outside prepared me for the experience we were about to face on the inside. Now keep in mind I am not Greek, have never been to Greece and have no idea what authentic Greek food taste like, but I can tell you that I have tried every Greek restaurant I can find from southern Oregon to western Washington and this was "BY FAR" the best we have had the pleasure of enjoying to date!! The service was excellent but most of all the food was 1st class. As my belly will tell you I am a food concierge and I can not wait to go back to Ishtar this comming weekend!!! So to make a long story short for great service and outstanding food, give Ishtar a try, you wont be disappointed...

We had 16 people in our party and the staff at Ishtar knocked it out of the park for us. They even went so far as to plate my brothers gluten free chocolate cake with a drizzle of chocolate sauce. The food, as usual, was a delight. Our table ordered dolma, a gyro plate and a vegetarian plate. All quite delicious. The pita, although probably store bought as noted in a previous review, was nice and thin for ripping apart and dipping into their very mild hummus and baba ganoush (both perfect for first time taste testers of Mediterranean cuisine). The falafel was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside as it should be and when dipped in tzatziki, scrumptious. Well surely be back for another lunch or dinner, and maybe even try the outdoor Hookah bar.

Came in really excited to try this place, took 15 minutes to find a table to sit. There was not a greeter to let us in or welcome us. We thought no big deal. We sit at an empty dirty table. Took another 15+ minutes to notice us getting their attention so they can clean it. Thats when we beg for the menus. We decided on what we want. We wait another 30 minutes, and we are completely ignored. Our waves to get their attention are completely ignored. After wasting over an hour, we left without trying this place. It was sad, but we wont be coming back. Try Alexandria, the Iraqi restaurant in Kent.

Excellent Middle Eastern & Mediterranean cuisine in an unassuming old A&W stand. The Chicken Schwarma ($10) is some of the juiciest weve ever had. Everything is delicious! I got the Kubba-Samboussa plate ($6) and the Vegetarian Platter ($9) so I could try a little of a lot of things...Ive been converted to Kubbas, and now crave them. Moist patties stuffed with seasoned beef - they can be rice, bulgar or potato...so good! The Baba Ghannouj ($4) here is excellent. Kind service, Great prices - Ill be back often!!

Great place for Mediterranean food. The food is delicious!!! You cant go wrong with any dish. If youre coming here with a group, I recommend the family platter. It comes with all the different meats with rice, plus pita bread, hummus, baba ghannoush and salad. They also include fried pita bits on top of the salad that I love! The last time I came here they brought out the food so quick! And it was a pretty busy night too. They also have baklava as well. A gem worth driving out to Kent for!!

Food was fatty and didnt come at the same time, the waitress was rude and we had to ask twice before getting our drinks, the fish and chips were oily and the batter tasted watery and had no flavor, the "Pita" bread was dry and tasted store bought and lastly the sambousa were "beef egg rolls" that would have been fine if the only seasonings werent parsley and salt .The overall experience was horrible not going back. And on a side note what kind of Mediterranean restaurant serves Bobba tea.

My family loves Greek & Mediterranean food so I was thrilled to discover Ishtar. We always enjoy everything we order. They make excellent chicken and lamb shwarma (sp?), a fish plate with perfectly seasoned white fish and so much more! I have had them cater 4-5 family events and the food was still great when prepared for 30-40 people. I would recommend giving them at least a couple of days notice for catering so that you can be sure that they have enough ingredients on hand.

Awesome! Service is beyond reproach and food is to die for. Anytime Im back in Seattle I ensure I come here for at least one meal. Mixed tikka Kanab is legit! The server, host, manager Ahmed is super friendly, extremely helpful and very responsive. Waited less than 5 min for drinks and received side salad and pita less than 2 min after that. Chicken curry is phenomenal! This restaurant is remarkable. Would strongly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

HALAL BURGERS!!!! They have garlic fries and greek fries to go with.... Ive been here about 3 times in the past week and a half since Ive discovered the place and the whole family loves the food. If youve ever traveled abroad their Schwarmas are the closest Ive had since I went overseas 25 years ago. Great food, friendly staff, normal pricing, a true mix of patrons. Try the Lamb Schawarma its really good.

I ordered 3 salads (a greek, a fattoush, and a gyro salad) for takeout, waited about 40 minutes for the food. When I got home and opened the salads up, NONE of them had LETTUCE. It was literally cut up vegetables in a box and that is all! What little food was in the box was nothing worth even eating. What a waste of money and time! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY HERE.

This place is the best Mediterranean/middle eastern restaurant in the south end. Prices are super reasonable and the food is pretty impressive. Their hummus is legit. As is their baba ganoush. I love their chicken Tikka, and their gyro is delicious, especially for five bucks. You are only hurting yourself by not giving this place a chance.
