Frankly... Disappointing. First the claim of coordinator included with wedding events is overrated. They dont really step in as a coordinator. We didnt hire one with the expectation that when they said they would had someone to help coordinate. (Possibly our misunderstanding of the help to be expected) If there was any coordination it wasnt as involved with us as we had hoped for. The bride and groom had to do a lot of directing that we didnt want to have to do on the day of the wedding. We had to call numerous times to obtain information, which took forever to get, and they did not call us. They didnt seem too interested in following up with us on details of the wedding during planning which we would have expected. And it was like pulling teeth to actually get the details how we requested. It was almost as if they were trying to convince us to do things differently then we wanted and even changed a few details with out our permission. Though we knew what the venue looked like, its highly recommended to have an additional place to be a waiting room, as there was no place to put things such as the box of bouquets we had delivered by our florist, which of course we didnt think about until it was happening the day of the wedding. I would have expected it to be set somewhere we could access it but out of sight. The venue has some nice aspects with the historic feel but we ended up having unattractive scenery for some of the photos as it is not ideal for wedding photos and there is no where to have any posed pictures in or around the building at all. I wish we would have asked to have a corner sectioned off with some nice props for photos, and/or nice chairs for sitting. The dinner we ordered was the only thing not completely disappointing as it did taste good. However the fondue was another story. The sauce was held in large bowls not fountains or traditional melting pots, and wasnt very good. Overall we would not go back or recommend the company for a wedding especially if the bride wants people who will listen and give her what she wants. (which most brides do)

5/5 Stars: Good Food, Superior Service "Occasions Catering was more than I could have hoped for, and much more than I expected. They catered our wedding, a first for us, and I didnt know what to expect. Because I didnt have a wedding coordinator, and after all the details Karla and I discussed, I thought for sure I was going to have to coordinate and watch the kitchen out of the corner of my eye the entire wedding. It was absolutely not so! Karlas event manager, Denise, was wonderful; she had every detail covered. The Food: We went to an Occasions tasting and the food preparation and taste was great. And although we ordered a traditional Italian spread buffet style,we didnt get to try it at the tasting, and for the low price they offered, the quality was still what I wanted! Im Italian and even I was impressed. The Service: Without a doubt, perfect: all of her staff we polite, helpful and even kind: everyone I met was genuinely happy to help. For the short amount of staff I ordered (1 manager, 2 servers for 120 people), I assumed they would not be particularly congenial, but they were! What really sealed the experience and my opinion was when Denise politely waited for me and caught me long enough to tell me she had saved the top of the cake for Jim and I, as well as our cake topper in the fridge. And then handed me a sweet little gift box from the company. It was a mini pick nick for two! Even after I asked for a super - lean, budget deal on the food and service. I was worry free that day (at least concerning the catering), and Karla and her wonderful staff have my sincerest thanks and gratitude." ~ Bonnie E. Farley

Occasions Catering and Special Events really made our wedding special. Words cannot express how grateful we are for everything the team did at our wedding! We were impressed by the service, food and set-up. The team was extremely professional. Karla was always quick to respond to our e-mails when we had questions. We really appreciated the prompt responses from the team. The day of the wedding I felt comfortable knowing Occasions was working on it. We had to change our set-up plans the day before the wedding due to rain and everything went perfect thanks to Occasions! The food was phenomenal. Guests enjoyed the appetizers and dinner selections. Appetizers were beautifully displayed using wine boxes and other décor we provided. They went the extra mile and provided little milk carafes for kids, which was a huge hit among them… well all the guests! We purchased a big popcorn maker for a popcorn bar later in the evening. We didn’t plan on it looking like much, but Karla went above and beyond and we were floored by how pretty the popcorn bar was set-up. We really appreciated the thought and creativity that went into making the popcorn bar. Popcorn is one of our favorite snacks, so we absolutely loved it! If we have a need for catering in the future, we will definitely go back to Occasions!

At last I am writing to share the absolutely wonderful experience we had with this caterer. In July we hosted as retirement party. Every detail was attended to with care and precision. Our event was held on the day of a major outdoor event nearby, blocking streets leading to the Heritage Room at Capitol Lake. The event planner put our traffic directional signs and personally acted as traffic monitor. The food was terrific; guests repeatedly commented on both its presentation and taste. Servers and bartender were excellent. Truly knew their jobs, and were gracious with guests. We wanted music and all we had to do was bring ipod and they handled the rest. Microphones provided so everyone could hear speeches. Picture frames provided when I couldnt get mine to stand up! In all honesty, I couldnt offer a single suggestion to this company to have made the event any better. I would hire them again in a heartbeat. You wont be sorry if you select them.

We just had Occasions cater our wedding at our home and they did a lovely job. I am very particular about food quality, so we went to their tasting ahead of time, selected what we wanted and then had a conversation with the chef to get even more specific about what we were looking for in flavor and qualitiy. They were very responsive and kept in touch by email regularly before the event. The food was delicious - very moist well seasoned salmon, tender moist potatoes and yummy stuffed mushrooms! The amounts were just right, and the servers got great reviews from our guests for being so personable and professional. We did not ask Occasions to do "event planning" for us, but they did come out ahead twice to look at the site and give us feedback on where we were planning to put the food, where we were planning to have the ceremony etc. All of it was in our yard and we had 170 guests to manage, so this was very useful!

The Best! Occasions catered our wedding on September 6, 2014, at Red Barn Studios. From planning to execution, I could not have asked for a better experience! The staff were all extremely professional and fun, and the guests raved about the service and the food! Erica was excellent to work with, reassuring me at every turn that the décor, the food, and the cleanup would be completely taken care of, and I shouldnt worry about a thing. She was absolutely correct! It was a perfect day and I was virtually stress-free knowing that Occasions was handling every detail. I expected just a caterer, but what I received was so much more-including an event coordinator! A special thank you to Erica for all of her hard work! To top it off, at the end of the night, the catering staff personally said goodbye to us and told us how much they enjoyed the event. Wow! Keep up the great work!
