I got my hair cut yesterday at Ace. I usually go there because its affordable and the guy who works there has a friendly demeanor, but he wasnt there on Saturday when I went in. I was hesitant to go to one of the ladies that was working there because they tend to aggressively buzz my hair in a manner thats uncomfortable because of the pressure they apply to my scalp, but I threw caution to the wind and my poor scalp and decided to just go with it. I get a simple buzz cut. I get it done all the time without any issues, but that wasnt my experience on Saturday, August 4, 2012. After having my head aggressively buzzed, I get ready to leave and the lady shows me the back of my head with the mirror. I’m a little dumbfounded at this point because on the back of my head looks like the beginning of a racing strips which was basically created because of an uneven cut. Instead of fixing it before I could see the problem, the lady explains the skin on my head wrinkled. I replied that Ive never had this problem before. Then I asked her if she could simply blend the mistake so it didn’t look like I have these racing strips on the back of my head. Instead of fixing the problem before I saw it or even listening to what I was asking, she decided to continue to blame the skin on my head for wrinkling. I understand that I generally only get a buzz cut when I come in and that I dont generate a lot of money, but Im a repeat customer that tips well. The last time I was in, I even had my eyebrows done. Isnt that worth a little customer service? If she didnt press so hard on my head, she wouldnt have to deal with the skin on my head wrinkling and therefore the uneven cut. To have me walk out of there unsatisfied didnt sit well with me then and even now as Im writing this review. I wont quietly endure her butchering my hair, attacking my scalp, or attempts of blaming the skin on my head for her inability to provide a service that I am paying her to do. In fact, shame on her for the poor customer service and the unwanted racing strips on the back of my head. I struggled with myself as I was paying and decided Id still tip her anyway because she still provided a service, but this review will hopefully shed some light on the effects of poor customer service.

Waste of time! I called and was informed they could get me in at 7:30. I gave my name and they said they would see me then. After arriving at 7:25 I was informed my name wasnt on the list. I let them know I had called and been given a 7:30 time, and they said "okay". After waiting for 10 more minutes it was clear they had just added my name to the bottom of a long list. I asked if they were going to honor my appointment, and the guy shrugged, and said sorry. It was pretty clear they didnt care that they had missed my appointment and would make no attempt to fix the situation. I let them know I would find another barber.

I have been going regularly to Ace Barbershop for over 8 years! Helen the owner is amazing. She listens to exactly what I want, knows all the styles, and is passionate about cutting hair. I have been sending all my friends to Helen over the years and they too have consistent great results. Plus her prices are affordable and she has had the same qualified staff for years.

Ladies, barbershops arent just for men. I had a great experience here, probably one of my favorite haircuts. It only took around 20 minutes (cut, no shampoo), and came in around $25. Dont hesitate to come here!

Helen gave me an excellent clipper cut. Fast, efficient, and accurate. Not a hair out of place. She listened carefully to what I wanted, asked a few questions, and then did her stuff. Ill be back.
