This gym has the WORST customer service that I have ever experienced! I went into the North Seattle LA Fitness hoping to sign-up for their $9.95 per week plan (I am a college student and only need someplace to work out for 3 weeks in winter). The guy who I talked to told me that the weekly plan is only available online, even though it says so nowhere on the website. I asked him if I could just have a guest pass for the day so that I could still work out and then sign up when i got home but he refused to give me one, stating that "we are running a business so I cant just give out guest passes". He also told me I couldnt borrow one of their computers because they dont have internet (really?). He told me that I would have to drive home, sign up, and come back. When I told him I lived 15-20 minutes away, he told me "oh, thats not too far" as if it was no big deal. Obviously he wasnt smart enough to realize that four 15 minute trips equals and hour of driving! When I got home I called to complain and after about a minute on the phone with the assistant manager who was taking my complaint, I realized it was the same guy I had just talked to! I dont know about LA Fitness, but I dont think employees are supposed to take complaints about themselves. He was very rude and defensive on the phone and even told me that I was "only going to sign up to 3 weeks" so he wasnt going to give me a guest pass. In other words, he wasnt going to get any commission so he had no incentive to provide good service. I finally talked to one of the managers and he did apologize and said that he would have handled the situation differently. While I appreciate that he was apologetic, the experience was still enough to keep me away from LA Fitness for a long time. If you are thinking of going to LA Fitness, be aware that the employees care nothing about the customers and are only concerned with earning their commission. This gym has the WORST customer service that I have ever experienced!. They have a crew of sales people that will try to get you to give up all your friends phone numbers so they can call and hassle them to join, and they will try to get you to buy a bunch of training sessions after they give you your initial free training session. If you miss a training session they dont pay the trainer even if you ask them to because, I assume, since they have already collected the money for the session because they are pre-paid, they dont want to give up any more of the money than they have to to the trainers. I was treated very rudely by the manager because I missed a session, despite the fact that I called in before to let them know I was going to miss and told them I wanted the trainer to be paid for the time and to just take the credit off my account. He was rude when he said he would let me slide but not to do it again. I thought the customer was always right?? The facility is pretty nice and the people who work there are for the most part pretty decent folk. They have a crime problem with people breaking into cars outside and also into lockers inside. Its too bad the business design of the place puts so much pressure on the sales people to get new members and get them to sign up for training sessions. It makes a lot of the sales staff into creeps. LA Fitness sucks for this reason.

I’ve been at this gym for 6 months now and can’t stand the headaches that they have given me. LA Fitness has a practice of double billing clients hoping that they wont catch mistakes. They ignore cancellation and continue billing despite numerous attempts at cancellation. This is even with their so-called "cancel at any-time" policy. Their gym looks nice, but the lockers are always broken, the machines, treadmills are always full and their staff is mostly distant and focused on themselves instead of maintaining the gym. Class instructors are 50-50. Some are professional, but there are many that have just started and risk injury with their lack of knowledge. Also, the b-ball court is extremely small with no room to move. No wonder much of the local news grimaced at LA Fitness’ huge corporate building taking away Ballard community space in exchange for big business dollars. Give it a try if you like, but watch your bank account, have back up documents and a third party overseeing communications along with other legal steps to ensure they dont take full advantage of you like they have most of their clients. I like to work out close by, so m currently shopping for other options close in the area.: - Bally Total Fitness - YMCA - Olympic Athletic Club - 24-hour fitness - Prorobics - Crossfit
