Closer to poor than fair, ladies and gentlemen. Reviewers are not exaggerating when they say this gym offers literally the worst customer service of all time. Please, never step foot in this gym. I may be trapped in a year-long hell hole of a contract, but please, dear reader, save yourselves. My first experience with this gym involved haggling like a fishwife at the market over the price of my membership. The manager I spoke with kept trying to push expensive plans on me for services I would not use, but I was persistent and was able--after almost an hour--to get him to show me the full list of plans LA Fitness offers. The first plan I pointed to had all the features I had been looking for but which he had adamantly argued the gym did not offer moments before. Sir, you are not talking to a sucker. A few months later when I decided to add personal training to my membership, I had a similarly negative experience. I was charged not one, not twice, but three times for my first months payment--over $1,000 on my card for what should have been a $300 bill. When I called the gym asking for help in canceling these excess charges, no one seemed able to help me and the staff I talked with were extremely dismissive and rude. When I finally got a call back from a manger, he told me that they would be unable to reverse the charges on my account until over the weekend. So, lets get this straight: they had overcharged me by an outrageous amount, everyone who I talked with was a big jerk, and no one even offered to give me anything free? I dont mean to sound needy, but some free stuff was definitely in order after all that hassle. Starbucks will give me a completely new drink if the first one isnt hot enough: LA Fitness definitely should have offered me a free month of training or something. Finally, a few days ago I threw out my back while lifting weights with my trainer. (Sidenote: my trainer, is awesome. Rosey is the sole redeeming feature of my experience at LA Fitness. If you are unfortunate enough to get wrangled into this place, stick with her. For a 30 minute training session, she will make you forget about the horrible decision you made with her expertise and friendliness.) The next day, I was unable to walk and had to be immediately seen by a doctor for x-rays and treatment. Since the initial injury, Ive been on pain medication, seen by multiple doctors, and missed a week of work. When I called LA Fitness to speak with a training manager about canceling my training plan until I recovered from my injury--something he personally assured me I could do if necessary when I signed up--he seemed defensive, even though I made it clear I wasnt holding anyone at the gym responsible, unwilling to listen to me, and unconcerned for my health. In a manner that suggested he was trying to get off the phone as quickly as possible, he told me that unless I had written proof of a disability, there was nothing he could do for me. This is the confusing part about LA Fitness: the gym itself is really, really nice. I have a good work out there, and I have a great relationship with my fabulous personal trainer. However, any time Ive ever had to to interact with anyone else that works there--especially the people in management positions--it has been completely and utterly awful. Incompetence, rudeness, and apathy are first and last impressions left by most of the staff.

IF I COULD RATE 0 STARS I WOULD.. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE WITHOUT AN ADULT!! Last night my younger sister who is a Senior in highschool was BULLIED and PHYSICALLY ASSAULTED by 2 grown MEN! I called and asked to speak to a manager, the manager Tyler just so happen to answer the phone. I explain to him my sister was in the gym shooting basketball with 2 other people, a group of guys walked in, one telling the 3 of them to leave the court so they can play a game full court. My sister replies "Thats not right, i pay for a membership here just like you guys, i have a right to play on the court too." The guy then pushes her which made the group of men laugh, so she pushes him back. She continues to dribble and shoot and the guy knocks the ball away from her yelling telling her to get off the court. As she walks towards the ball the biggest man in the group charges at her like a football player knocking her to the ground so hard her laced up tennis shoe flies off of her foot! All the men start laughing! Immediately she goes to the front counter to report what happened. The young man behind the counter came across as being intimidated by the situation but did go to the court to ask what happened. The men jokely act like they dont know what he is talking about. Nothing was done. Tyler the proceeds to tell me they do not tolerate any assaults at the gym and asked if my sister could recognize the men if she seen them again. I say yes! He then tells us to come up there so that she can point them out. I take her up there today and immediately she sees the bigger man that knocked her down, she points him out. Both managers Tyler and Jeremiah were there. We show both of him the man that was there, and then ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WAS SAID TO THE MAN, BOTH MANAGERS LEAVE THE GYM WITHOUT EVEN ADDRESSING THE ISSUE! She had been going to this gym almost everyday the past few months and now no longer feels safe! I will be filing a police report first thing in the morning and canceling her membership along with our other sisters membership! Its not right to be assaulted period but the fact they allowed two grown men to get away with assault on a teenage girl makes matters even worse!

I have been a member of LA Fitness for a few years now. I made a New Years resolution to get back into shape that I havent seen in years in my own life. Having read a few reviews recently I felt it time to give a fantastic one. It is due to the great staff at the Highland Hill branch. I have always been treated with the utmost respect, beginning with the front desk employees to the trainers. I hadnt had an assessment before so this is where my journey began in mid January. I was assessed by Tony Benson, who, from beginning to the point of connecting me with a personal trainer was gracious, respectful, kind, helpful, and "most encouraging". I needed this in particular because when youve been out of shape as long as i was, its difficult to patiently wait while the painful beginning seems to drag on before the changes "I" needed to see begin to happen. When I first came in, I was dealing with an injury which I will say is improving amazingly - not to mention my health. I have lost weight, gotten into shape, and become so much stronger, which has aided in the continued healing of my injury. My way of eating has dramatically changed through some nutritional guidance by Mr Benson when I first began. The training staff pay attention to any issues and adjust where needed with the workouts to prevent additional injury during the healing and strengthening process. I cannot express my gratitude to each person Ive had contact with. I have never experienced disrespect in any way (so dont understand when some individuals have complained regarding this issue). In my observation the staff treats everyone with the utmost respect no matter the age, whether male or female. Every penny of my hard-earned money was well worth my investment in membership dues and training. I appreciate the enthusiasm and positive energy that I have experienced while at the gym each time I come, even if Im not having the best day its always consistent there. I cant say "thank you" enough for this new beginning... With great respect and sincere gratitude -- THANK YOU (again)...
