Our company had a horrible experience with Sanyuan Construction Supply, and we actively discourage people from doing business with them. We purchased granite for a customer for the amount of $915.69. The granite was paid for in advance, since it was a custom piece. When our experienced workers (with the manager of Sanyuan helping) picked up the granite from the showroom floor, it cracked in half. Since the granite was about a foot and a half off of the ground, it was clear that the custom work had damaged the piece. Initially the manager, Mengna, did not want to refund any of the charges. After a dispute, Mengna agreed to a partial refund of $620.04- which was the cost of the materials. They refused to refund the fee for the custom work. When calling to speak to the owner, I was told that the owner was out of the country for 6 months, and would be unable to return my phone calls. The person on the on the phone proceeded to antagonize me, with asking me such things as: do you think the air broke the granite? After approximately 15 minutes on the phone with no progress, I asked if he was even interested in working with me. He said no, and giggled, and proceeded to tell me that he was just “funning me.” He could not give me anything, he was just a worker, and I would need to speak with the manager, Mengna. Of course, I asked to speak with the manager (and let him know that I was not amused), and was told she was unavailable. Upon reaching Mengna I told her that we are both small businesses, and hoped that we could compromise and potentially split the loss. I thought a decent compromise would be for us to order the new granite countertop from Sanyuan (we still had a customer that needed it), and she could give me half of the difference of the custom work (approximately $150) off the new order. Sanyuan no longer had the exact product, so we had to work with the customer to pick out new granite, which ended up being much cheaper. I gave her the dimensions and asked for an estimate. Mengna only agreed to this potential compromise after I pointed out that we would be taking our business elsewhere. Initially she did not agree with the compromise since she thought we were a one-time customer and it wouldn’t be a loss to have our business taken away. I had to point out the other purchases that we had made, and the customers we had recommended. Although unsettled by the company’s obvious lack of ethics, I asked for a new estimate from Sanyuan. We also obtained another estimate from another granite supplier that we use. It was for the exact same product (since we were not sure if Sanyuan would be willing to compromise with us at this point). We obtained an estimate from Evergreen Granite & Cabinet. We have obtained estimates from both places in the past, and they have always been within $50 of each other. We usually choose the place based on which one is closer to the job (for the last job, Sanyuan was closer). The estimate from Evergreen Granite & Cabinet was for $602.25, and the estimate from Sanyuan was $731.57 with a $135.00 “discount” applied. We ordered the granite from Evergreen Granite & Cabinet, and it was a superior product. Our customer is happy, and we are happy with their level of service. We will no longer do business with Sanyuan, and I hope that others, especially small businesses will re-think doing business with them. As a company, we stand behind our product, and I expect those we do business with to do the same. Our hope is this review helps prevent someone from a similar experience.

I ordered a granite countertop for our downstairs kitchen. When the workers came to install it, they did not seem to understand any of my personal requests or to have much interest in what I was trying to say to them. I think they probably understood, to be honest, but just didnt care. The counter went in a bit uneven but not bad. However, there was a chip in the corner of the backsplash, which they just glued back into place, but which was still clearly visible. It sits behind an appliance so not that big a deal, but my impression overall was that they were in a hurry and didnt think I was a very important customer. Its still a pretty nice counter for a downstairs kitchen but I would have preferred a bit more of a customer service attitude.
