We had concerns with the roof of the house we were buying, Century 21 offered a 3-year guarantee underwritten by a roofer. Two years later our roof gives and we have water pouring into our dining room. We contact our Century 21 agents who have the original underwriter come out. He yells at my wife on the phone, comes and sees the damage, then refuses to pay for it or conduct repair. We contacted our selling agent Lindsey Jackman who offered the guarantee, but she has refused to honor it (first making us jump through hoops having her people come out and look at the damage, which we did twice) but nobody ever fixed it or comped us for having it fixed. Long story short, Century 21 agents offered us a roof warranty to close the deal, then didnt honor the warranty when the roof failed. But we did let them involve two other contractors, who both flaked out on us (the second one left us hanging, never showed up). We have reached out to all channels - including to the owners of Century 21 - and no party has taken responsibility to honor the guarantee. Lesson learned: Dont do business with Century 21, they dont stand behind their agents or what their agents promise.
