My family wanted to go have a relaxing boat ride on the lake, so we chose LeatherLips Watersports. My kids wanted to go tubing, so I also rented a tube with our 18’ foot boat. Twenty-Five minutes into the boat ride we stopped to set up the tube for the kids. We noticed that the people working there gave us a rope that was too short for tubing, my kids were practically on the motor of the boat (The rope was cut, so to save money LeatherLips tied both the ends crudely back together). As a concerned father I gave them a call from my cellphone only to find they wanted me to come ALL the way back (Twenty-Five minutes) for me only to get fifteen minutes back in boat time for a MISTAKE that could of been easily prevented (They just threw it out right after we returned it anyway). The owner gave us snarly, rude remarks on how it was not their fault that we were given a terrible, unacceptable rope. Now, with everything put behind us we enjoyed the lake. On my families return back to the lake, we proceeded out of the boat. I turned my back and started walking with my 2 year old in hand, when I overheard of one the teen boy say to my family, “CYA dough bags”. I turned around and asked the boy kindly what he said. He just laughed and waved my family off. I have never in my life been treated with such disrespect from a ignorant teenage boy before. Today is July 26th 2012. and I will never go back to that run down place of a boat rental again. EVER. You want better business; you hirer more mature and experienced workers. I will pass this on to my friends and my family.

Awful experience thanks to their buffoon water patrol service. I rented two wave runners for my family (me, my wife and two young kids). Barely 30 minutes into my wifes ride, we were chased down by their buffoon patrol and instructed to immediately return our rentals. Why you may ask? Because a few minutes earlier I had pulled up to my wife to talk and in the process had broken their golden 300ft rule. I was told that I had acted recklessly while departing from my stationary wife. Some water splashed her and I had done some weaving turns when well over 100ft away (yikes!). Never mind that I had approached and left in slow, no-wake operation. No pleasantries were exchanged. No warning issued. No regard for the true rules of the lake were given (which are no-wake within 100ft). We were not allowed to discuss further at the dock. My wife later told me that the buffoon patrol had been trailing her since the start of her ride. As middle aged parents with young kids, were definitely your reckless stereotype! It was a slow day on the lake and apparently buffoon patrol needs to justify his wages. I am a Lake Geneva property owner, powerboat owner, sailboat owner and well versed in the laws of the water. Leather Lips has no regard for common sense or actual rules. Their customer experience is dictated by a muscle bound doofus that thinks hes fighting a war on tranquil bay of Lake Geneva. Avoid this place at all costs!

I am shocked to hear that anyone has had a less than stellar experience from this company. My family has made multiple trips to Lake Geneva every summer for the past 15 years. We only rent from Leather Lips Watersports. We have rented from other rentals in the area only to have had unacceptable and frustrating experiences. Leather Lips has the best equipment, amazing staff, and I know they would never send out a sub-standard apparatus. Their staff is always helpful and eager to meet our needs. Actually, we met the owner last year--very nice man. He gave our kids high-fives when they got off of the boat (they LOVED it! They kept referring to him as "Mr. Leather Lips"...hilarious!). We usually call ahead and make a reservation. Immediately when we get to the entrance someone is always there to greet us, then they lead us to the friendly girls at the check-in desk. We promptly pay, sign their waiver (which seems to be standard everywhere these days), and we are then guided to someone who gives us instruction on the boat and answers any of our further questions. They line our boat up, put the boat into gear for us, and send us on our way! This year we rented their larger speed-boat for 4 hours, I believe it was a Monterey...fantastic boat! The kids had a ball tubing and the adults got some relaxation and sun! I would DEFINITELY recommend this watercraft rental to anyone coming to Lake Geneva! I promise you will have an amazing experience.

Had an absolutely horrible experience here mainly due to Leather Lips employee "Bill", a middle-aged muscle-bound blowhard who they have patrolling the lake, hassling renters. It happened to us twice, wasting time from our rental period. The first time we had just started and while going less than 2 mph fell off our wave runner, due to poor weight balance on my part. Mind you this in no way would damage a wave runner. My son & I got back on and Bill pulled up and took 5 minutes to intimidate us by reading us the rules in a condescending, sarcastic tone like I was an irresponsible teenager. After making us feel like crap, we continued on anyway. Just as we were about to return after our hour, Bill again stopped us on our way back to throw in a few barbs, ending with "WE DONT WANT YOUR BUSINESS". Bear in mind, that whatever Bill saw or thought he saw, we were practically in view of an "official" Geneva Lake Water Patrol Safety boat the entire hour, and they apparently had no problem with our driving. Bear in mind that once the customer signs a waiver and gives a credit card imprint, the customer assumes responsibility. You dont need a patrolman treating customers like little kids. As a business owner, this is not good for establishing a loyal customer base. So, Leather Lips mgmt, in my 8 years of renting from you, I now will go to Elmers and Milligans all due to the actions of your rogue employee Bill.

One star because Im forced to in order to right this review. Sharon is absolutely the rudest and unprofessional person I have ever dealt with. Rented a 7 passenger boat and paid $45 for a worn down tube. We arrived at 1:45 for our 2pm appointment. We were not give our boat until 2:15. I asked what time we had to have the boat back and was told two hours from when we were in the biat. 45 minutes into our ride the tube that we didnt use tore. I called "Sharon" who basically advised we can return it for another or "deal with it." We didnt want to go back so we dealt with it. Around 4pm we begin to head back but ended up at the wrong dock. I get a call from Sharon and explain the situation she began to yell at me and tell me we were 30 minutes away. I explained this was an accident and we were heading back. We get back at 4:36 and a male advised I owed $120 for the tube we never used and $50 for the extra 1/2 hour. I explained we did not use the tube and explained we were given the boat 15 minutes past our appointment time... He didnt care. I paid so we can leave this run down place. Im still in disbelief of what we were forced to pay and the tone of voice Sharon used when speaking to me. If you are looking for a boat/water runner rental facility I highly recommend you DO NOT go here!! HORRIBLE experience and even worse costumer service!!
