OH NO! Maharaja, what happened? Weve been going here for takeout weekly for two years. First, they take 5 times longer to take the order. They mispronounce entrees that are very common and they put me on hold while they get help with our order. No language barrier. As a matter of fact, it seems the people on the other end speak better English than ever before. Walk in..and OMG, the ENTIRE front end staff has changed -- not one Indian American-- it seems that nobody even from the Asian continent is working as front end staff. I ask a man who now works there if they have new owners and/or management. He replied, "Yes, we are trying to get things organized now." I witnessed a young waiter getting berated and humiliated by what looked like a manager. It was too hard to watch. I calmly told the "manager" that I had been a weekly customer and I was never coming back because of the way he treats his staff. He became belligerent and sarcastic with me. I wish I didnt pay for the food and take it home. The two mango lassos we ordered were not in the bag. The sag paneer we ordered was the worst I had ever tasted -- the cheese had a foul taste and the spinach was flavorless. The dal was overcooked. You couldnt visually make out any of the ingredients in the dal. Horrible. Its sad. It used to be the best place in MKE to get Indian. Now, its the absolute worst. What happened?

My husband and I always used to have a pleasant time eating here. The first time we went a few years ago, we had made a reservation, and then we were late. That didnt seem to matter to them. They were more than accommodating and very polite. Something must have changed. We went there May 21, 2014 at about 9:05 pm. We came to celebrate my husbands birthday. The hostess seemed rude from the start, but we were going to ignore that since its only the hostess, and not our server. The server took over from her to seat us when he saw that she was being rude. However, it was not good enough for her to be relieved of this "massive inconvenience" of doing her job. She turned away for a few seconds, only to turn back, and snap that since it was past 9pm, they could not take any new customers for the night. By the way, they do not close until 10pm. We would be able to order something to go, but that was it. We wanted to eat in, and since it was only 9:05, we should have had every right; but she didnt want to be bothered. Needless to say, we were both infuriated, and we will never be back. If the owner is reading this, I would strongly suggest firing anyone who causes customers to turn on you like this. It seems like we are not the only ones.

Updated: Original review below the update. I received a call from someone at the Maharaja this morning, the evening after the incident. The person I spoke to seemed genuinely interested in making the issue right. I appreciate that; its a sign of dedication to customers. The issue I experienced (poor customer service and a list of mistakes) was more the mess-up of the delivery service, UberEats, (Do NOT get me started on them). I hope the folks at Maharaja can settle this with UberEats or find a more reliable, and customer focused delivery service. I changed my review to five-stars to reflect my feelings on how the folks at Maharaja handled things once they contacted me directly. ***Original Review*** I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN! This used to be one of my absolute favorite spots. I was a loyal customer for many years, but tonights delivery order changed that. HALF my order did not come. When I called back the delivery service, they messed up the complaint over and over and it took another hour and a half to get the rest of my order AND I RECEIVED NO REFUND FOR THE INCONVENIENCE OR LOST TIME OR THE FACT THAT MY FOOD WAS COLD AND MY MANGO LASSI MELTED BY THE TIME I GOT TO IT. Unacceptable customer service. No thank you.

Went to Maharaj on 11/7, after a long time. The place has been renovated, but no major changes. I went for the lunch buffet. The greeter on the main desk couldnt smile to save her life. She told me that the weekend buffet price has gone up now (Think i paid $19 with tax). Showed me to my table and left. Food was pretty low quality (tasteless sabzis, overcooked meat, goat meat curry was mostly bones) and fewer choices than I remember. The counter lady yelled at me in front of the other customers for asking for a different fork since the one I had was spotty. She brought the bill while I was still eating my rice. The lady at the counter was very rude to me on multiple occasions. Wont be going there again. To the person denying all the negative reviews " Rather than trying to cover-up for your failing quality, please fix your staff and food if you want to be in business". So many negative reviews cannot be wrong. Learn to face criticism and try to improve. You wanted an in-depth review, here you go. Let me know if you need more details.

We used to love Maharaja. It was one of our top two or three restaurants anywhere. But since they changed ownership a few months back, it has gone right in the toilet. We went for buffet a few weeks ago and were extremely disappointed. The price had been raised, and the number of entree selections was about cut in half, with only two vegetarian dishes as opposed to the usual four or five. The dal was awful, almost inedible, and the pakoras were mushy and uncooked inside (definitely inedible). The rest of the food was bland and unappealing. We had to flag down a waiter for everything, even though the place was nearly empty, and the staff (apparently all college students now) seemed more concerned with stirring the dishes on the steam table than seating and waiting on customers. We were just appalled, this place used to be fantastic in every way; it is now a mere shadow of what it used to be. If you love this place like we did, but havent been there in a while, beware! We will not be back until the former owner returns. What a shame!

the waiters are good. food is mostly ok but not great due to inconsistency. once i ordered chicken tandoori since it was the only one i found consistent there in my previous visits. it was old and reheated before given to me. i tasted a small piece and i hated it and asked not to bill it. then this manager or owner guy came and argued that it was of good quality and that he and the chef tasted and thought it was good. am i such a stupid customer to not know how the food was? is that how they consider all customers? i never went there after that incident. got reminded to put this review here after i received a much better treatment and food quality at another Indian restaurant in Illinois today. so im asked to send emails now? and if i dont, ill be flagged? cant you read english? the review comment ive given here is detailed enough about my experience. try to improve rather than flagging customer reviews. your business is certainly going to go down if you treat your customers like this
