I would recommend many other gyms over this one. Aside from a few passionate (and really excellent) spin instructors, the classes are average at best. There are two good trainers that I have worked with who are extremely knowledgable. Otherwise it sounds like a majority of the trainers arent certified and are just "fit" people. The front desk staff is a joke. I hate to be so abrasive, but I am pretty sure the requirements to work the front desk are having a pulse and the ability to swipe a key fob. Aside from a majority of them having terrible personalities, they totally lack basic manners and customer service skills. I could include a long list, but my most recent experience was that I called a handful of times to cancel my training membership. Each time I was asked to leave my contact information. Following no returned calls I explained to the front desk girl my frustration and her response was "well, you will just have to keep calling. It is not like they can drop what they are doing and talk to you about your membership." Really? Because when I wanted to join a year ago I received 11 phone calls in one week. (Yep, that is 1.57 times per day they had enough time to drop everything and call me when they wanted my business.) The gym is generally clean. There are always a decent number of cardio machines that are flagged as down for maintenance. Best time of day to go is the morning. People mind their own business and get a solid workout in. Later in the day you have a crowd made up of a majority of people showing way too much skin, looking to take someone home or blowing kissing in the mirror to themselves as they do bicep curls.

Went in yesterday to trial the gym. I just moved to town and take the gym I work out at very seriously. For this reason, I planned to trial a handful of them - a very standard practice. When I asked the PRICK SALESPERSON JORDAN about the 1-day trials that are **routinely offered**, he told me that he would only let me trial the place if I would sign a membership that day. WHAT A JOKE!! When I told him the truth that I would be shopping other gyms, he told me to leave the gym and go to the other places because I was WASTING HIS TIME because "I dont care about 2 weeks or 2 days from now, sales is a today thing!." (HIS EXACT QUOTE!!) I am a serious customer, Jordan, AND I CAN AFFORD A GYM TOO (yeah, he had the gaul to ask if I could afford it). You, on the other hand, are a lousy (at best) and desperate salesperson who should honestly be stocking shelves at K-mart!! SERIOUSLY, who tells someone that they cant trial a gym if they plan on trialing other gyms.?? Who tells a serious customer that theyre WASTING YOUR TIME?!? At the end, his manager grudgingly let me trial the gym - the apology that was made was hardly a motion at best. The gym wasnt even that great. JORDAN, YOU ARE A CONDESCENDING PRICK - YOU DESERVE PEOPLE TO KNOW THIS!!! If the management at this place has ANY SENSE they should FIRE PEOPLE LIKE JORDAN!!! What a JOKE!! You dont INSULT CUSTOMERS and get away with it...you are a lousy salesperson and a major prick!

Compared to other gyms in the area, LA Fitness happens to be very good for the price. There are some really nice gyms, like The Village and Lifetime (we checked out both) but they wanted over $100 for a single person!!! After checking out Pure and 24 Hour Fitness we went over to LA. Pure and 24 HR were priced very well. Pure was like 20 a month and 24 was 25 a month but I wasnt really impressed with the gyms nor staff. I went to LA Fitness with my wife and we were impressed with what we saw. The staff was very friendly and the guy who signed us up was very helpful. The gym was really clean as well. The locker room is a big thing for me and there locker room was actually clean. We only paid about 30 a person which for what we were getting it was worth it. My wife loves the classes and they were all included and I play basketball. I guess the other LA Fitnesses have raquetball courts but this location in particular doesnt. Thats the only bummer. Overall, we have been going now for about 1 month and so far we haven;t had any issues. The other day I went at about 2 PM and there were a bunch of high school kids there (they crowded all the machines) which was annoying but overall I would give it an 8-10.

Unless you like going to the gym at 5 am then you may not like this gym. The staff is terrible, with very few exceptions, the sales team is lead by, or managed if you want to call it management, less than friendly professional staff. The one thing that is truly strong about this club is the arrogance it exudes from its training and sales managers and staff, which you can usually find them in between their shifts lurking around the gym cussing, slamming weights, glaring at other gym members, and having absolutely the worst gym etiquette of all. By far between this and the Chandler location are the two clubs have been the absolute worst experiences Ive ever had with LA Fitness. Dont waste your time or money going to this location, the other clubs will offer you the same if not better membership and have a much better staff that dont spend 3/4 of their time glued to their cellphones, or computer screens.

We used to be members of 24 Hour Fitness, recently acquired by LA. We loved our gym, it was close to us and really small but never overly crowded. They assured us if we signed new contracts, our location would stay open. Of course, they shut it down 3 weeks later. We now have to travel 15-20 min to any of the Scottsdale locations. They are all crowded, we can never get a bench, have to wait forever for machines. There are people staking out even the Stairmasters with their water bottles, then going off to do who knows what? Its ridiculous. I have never seen so many people taking up machines to sit there doing nothing but texting or chatting with other people standing around. We go to the gym to work out, not waste other peoples gym time while we socialize. We have tried all 3 locations, same thing.

I can imagine that the experience that some of the people posted occurred the way that they described... I argue that pretty much all gyms in this price range are full of people that sell really hard, it is because of the pay structure that LA Fitness(and other similar gyms) uses, if the guys/gals do not hit certain numbers they dont get paid so when they are coming on strong to make sales it is usually because they are generally worried about their pay check for that period...I agree that sometimes gym sales people come on too strong but it is the nature of the beast a little bit. I have worked out at this gym since it originally opened and almost every single employee that I have ever met that works there is a good person, maybe tuff skinned and definitely under paid, but a good person none the less.
