As a Doctor of Chiropractic I know all about the importance of functional movement training and exercise, and CrossFit is just that; functional, and by that I mean that these exercises, lifts and movements will improve your function in your daily routine be it as an office worker, business person law enforcement officer, firefighter, housewife, athlete, armed service man or woman, student, etc... Improved function decreases pain. CrossFit gets a bad wrap from people who dont know any better because they think that doing CrossFit will cause injuries. Well, so will walking down the stairs if done improperly. Granted, these workout are intense and you will be moving weight and your body around, but when done with proper form and scaled to your ability, they can actually do wonders for injury prevention, core stability and strength, as well as cardiovascular, immune and nervous system health. This is because CrossFit workouts are designed to create a Metabolic Effect that burns calories for up to 36 hours after your workout; something not caused by hours on a treadmill... Use proper form, scale the weight to your ability and check your ego at the door and you shouldnt have to worry about injuries. Regarding this specific CrossFit Box/Gym, I love it! The owners, Rick and Chelsea are great and a pleasure to work with and have no problem adapting their business and purchasing new equipment to accommodate the growing number of members here. This is a very beginner friendly gym that will also humble to best CrossFitters around depending on how you scale your workouts. The coaches are also very skilled and they help coach you on your form and motivate you the entire WODs (Workout Of the Day), unlike other CrossFit gyms around here... My fiance and I joined up in early May and made friends quickly. We love the sense of community at this gym and during the events planned outside of the box like beach days, pool parties, nutritional seminars and Tough Mudder events. The dynamic of our 6am class is filled with friendly competition and everyone cheers till the final person is done. I would recommend this gym to anyone, regardless of fitness level.

I have been a member of ACF for 2 years now and I can honestly say joining was THE best health decision I have ever made. Looking back at pictures of when I first joined, I am reminded of how out of shape I looked and I recall feeling very unhappy with my self as a result. Prior to joining I had heard of the CrossFit brand and had friends who had achieved great results....yet I was still skeptical, because of all of the negative rumors surrounding CrossFit and its safety. I decided to attend a free class and after the first workout (as challenging as it was), I knew that I was going to stay around and give this CrossFit thing a shot. I left that day with a feeling of accomplishment and felt comfort that the staff at ACF was very knowledgeable and placed a high focus on safety. I am very proud that I have stayed injury free and been able to consistently work and make gains in my fitness and overall health. I am 35 with 2 children and in the best physical shape of my life. Not only has this experience been life changing for my health, I have also made great connections with members and the CrossFit community in general. I attend competitions, events, fundraisers, etc. I have made a bunch of great friends, and the experience has overall made me a better person. I am better at time management, I feel like my my mind functions better, I am happier, and I have gained a wealth of knowledge that I will use for the rest of my life on diet and exercise. I really owe the staff and owners of Aliso CrossFit a great deal of gratitude for what they have given me. I highly encourage anyone at any fitness level or age to give it a shot. You WILL be challenged; but I guarantee if you stick with it and pay attention to the advice of the staff, stay dedicated, this will be a life changer for you!

3..2...1...GO! I have become very familiar with this phrase over the past year. After a month of emails back and forth with one of the owners, I finally walked in the door early January, 2012, to finally try this thing called CrossFit. I had known about it for a while, back when it was only done in your garage. But having a place nearby I could go to was fantastic! I met Rick, the owner and name on the emails, and we talked about my background and my goals. I did the On Ramp intro class and got hooked! This was the combination of exercise and personnel I was looking for! The owners (Rick and his wife Chelsea) have done an outstanding job of creating a place that both welcomes you, and challenges you. The coaches, Clayton, Jackson, and Rob, are at once inspiring and motivating, pushing you through the WOD (Workout Of the Day). It doesnt matter if you can lift 5 pounds or 500, if you can run or not, or do a pull up or not, you are still met with the same coaching, motivation and support. Whether youre an athlete or a couch potato, you are welcome! Youll be challenged, pushed and motivated! The other members are fantastic as well, hanging out before and after the WOD. The owners and coaches, IMO, have certainly embraced and embodied the spirit of CrossFit,, and have made a great place to come experience the sport of fitness!

Two Words -TRY IT! I have been Crossfitting for two years and have tried several different boxes and I can finally say I have found my second home! The schedule is great; several options for AM classes with afternoon classes given 3x week, PM classes and Saturday classes. The coaches are knowledgeable, awesome and push you during the WODS (Work Out of the Day) If you dont have experience, thats ok, they will SCALE. Keep in mind you can YouTube Crossfit videos and yes they look scarey but at Aliso Viejo Crossfit, they train smart. They sell protein and recovery and Coconut water. The restrooms are clean and plenty of parking. They have an apparel line from beanies, hoodies, tank-tops and tshirts featuring their logos which are great. The area is nice, safe and across the street from the OC Sheriffs department (Aliso Viejo) I live in Irvine and there are several Crossfits in the area within 6 miles from my house but Aliso Viejo is well worth the extra drive! Come by and check it out!

When I started here I thought that the people were intimidating and the workouts would be too hard. I could only do a few pull-ups before needing to use a band for help. The community that I found was AMAZING! The staff and other members pushed me to to become better. I dont think that I have ever found the results that I have had here. I have used personal trainers, fad workouts, boot camps, etc. Nothing compares to this place. You dont just join a gym, you join a community that is welcoming to EVERYONE. It doesnt matter your size, weight, sex, experience level. They will help you up, cheer you on, and make you better. Joining Aliso CrossFit was the best thing that I have ever done!

I have had personal trainers and have been an athlete prior to Aliso Crossfit and they are much much more then just another Crossfit gym because the trainers are well educated. Run by a husband and wife, so you really get a sense of community. Having that community has helped me reach goals that I never thought I would achieve with getting my diet on the healthy track and losing those extra pounds. I recommend Also Crossfit for anyone that wants to get in shape or take it to the next level and have fun and never get bored with your workouts.
