Yesenia, an employee, at Montclair, Ca LA Fitness- withheld my ID card, my personal possession, to coerce/force me to sit down. ILLEGAL! I asked for it back, she cradled it closer to her chest and turned her shoulder to me as if shes being greedy over my valuables. She said no, sit down first. Daniel, her co-worker sitting a yard behind did not interfere until I was already yelling in frustration because she wouldnt give my card back. She kept wanting me to sit down first. Thats withholding my personal possessions to coerce me to sit down. ILLEGAL! Daniel then finally handed my ID card back and I received an apology from Vlad, the corporate manager (per him, but was given no business card or employee number for any of these people). However, even after 10 min of resolving the situation, she still had a smirk, rolling her eyes at me, and acting a better-than-thou attitude. I came to test out this facility. I was invited by my mother. And staff who use withholding personal property to force me to sit down is illegal and needs to be fired. Even after knowing what she did, she had no remorse. Retraining might help, but this is a huge offense. She does not belong with LA Fitness and poorly represents this company. Personally, she should be fired on the spot. Oh- other than the poor mistreatment by Yesenia; - Vlad, Olivia and the director of personal trainers were very professional and very glad to work with them. If I had worked with them exclusively, they would have had another customer with positive reviews. The facility is clean and well kept. Many options for me. But except for the illegal action their staff did, it would have been perfect.

Do not take out a membership in Bally if you ever think you might need to cancel your membership. I utterly wasted $42 per month on a month-to-month plan and there is no convenient way to cancel, by phone or online. Everything is set up to make it as difficult as possible to cancel, even on a Platinum month-to-month membership. 20 minutes wait on the phone and a lot of "policy" quoted to me. I finally was able to cancel, but these people should be ashamed of themselves. Companies like this go out of business. Good luck. Really, I mean that, good luck. Its nasty when a company lets down its customers and its employees like this. Just for the record, they have extremely poor equipment maintenance at Bally Montclair. I have been there for months at a stretch with the same equipment broken even when I have reported it. Often times when trying to report a problem after 8pm there has been NO management on the property to complain to. Swimming pool is over chlorinated and their group jacuzzi "hot tub" is slimy feeling, opaque water (i.e. too much dead skin, poor filters). I tried it once a week over a period of weeks and it didnt change. I complained, but got no response. I just got the creeps. Never went back to the aquatics. So, do yourself a favor: buy some weights (5 lb ones for toning, not bulking) and buy a recumbent bike or put your regular bike on a stationary stand, or get a rowing machine or treadmill and invest in your health personally. It will be a lot cheaper. And you can watch whatever you want to watch on TV or sing at the top of your lungs or look out your own front window. - Chris M.

I ended my long-time membership with LA Fitness because of this location. While my experience at other locations warranted little to no complaint, this location is simply lacking to say the least. . While the cleaning staff does all they can to keep up the Gym, the Gym itself is simply grungy. The mens locker room is disgusting. No amount of cleaning would help. They desperately need a make over. Furthermore, given the grungy atmosphere (especially in the mens locker room), they should at least offer sanitizing spray bottles to clean machines down. I had to bring my own. While I understand that customer service can be taxing, the staff at this location just seemed unwelcoming. They seemed to be off in their own little world. Furthermore, when I did approach them about an issue I had on the Gym floor, it soon became apparent that they were all "cliquey" with both staff and Gym members, which didnt give me any indication that my issue would be resolved (which is why I left). Overall, theres plenty of other gyms in the area you have to choose from. Id do my homework before signing up here. LA Fitnesss high standards are not applied here. This location desperately needs work.

As a customer I must say that Ive learned not to ever trust a sale representative no matter how professional he/she might seam at first I thought sales people wore deceitful now LA Fitness gets added to the list. I added my boyfriend for an additional $10 a month which my total payment should have been $29.99. I had give a big down payment to start my membership which it dropped my payment to $19.99 and with $10 more I could add someone else. Well, not in LA Fitness, contract do not mean S&^% and theyll still charge you $29.99 per person regardless of the amount of down payment you give them. I am reaching out to the corporate office since I am now being charged twice a month and yes, customer service sucks as well. And why do I have to call corporate to cancel my subscription? They werent there taking my credit card information... Uffff not come here get a membership somewhere else.

Hello, I attend the Montclair store and they were completely unprofessional i asked the girl in the front and pointed to the sales lady and she said her name was yessenia she was mexican chic wears glasses. The lady in the front processed to tell me after i told her that yessenia ws rude that she has been hearing that lately so apparently something needs to happen to this yessenia lady! She processed to tell me because i didnt want to sign up my little sister for a gym membership that i didnt love her or care for her. When i got there they told me that i would get a 3 day pass but that rude yessenia got mad that i didnt sign up she only gave me a one day pass! I have attended the Montlclair store since it litereally opened i have never been treated so unprofessional.

Dear B**** cough* Yesenia, **Just know you forced two clients to disenroll their membership from LA Fitness. My cousin was visiting town and we wanted to go to the gym. I got her a pass through the L.A Fitness App. Yesenia gave us an ultimatum saying we can pay for the 15 dollar express pass or my cousin can sit down with her and "it may take a while." She asked my cousin what school she went to and scolded her for not knowing the zip code. She has no right to speak to customers the way she does and she called me an a**hole. Avoid her at all costs she is short, average looking, light brown hair, with glasses. Be WARNED everyone.

I regret that the staff of this location dont love its work and facilities. The Jacuzzi most of time with dirty foam, a lot of members come in to the sauna room with tennis and complete sport wear, just some people wear sandals and swimwear as requires a sign in the place, and take a shower before enter to sauna room. No manager no staff to drive the protocol of health in a public place like this where every one is at risk of getting a disease or catch a virus or bacteria. The manager and directors of this branch office will be the responsible in any case...
