The vinyasa classes are all too similar. Not enough integration of poses mostly a lot of Vinyasa through to downward dog. The bathrooms are really dirty. The sauna is always at mild to medium heat never very hot. The whole studio has a vibe of holier than than you and the front desk woman treats you like youre lucky to be there instead of the other way around. Her sparkly eyeshadow and wacky personality doesnt help curb her passive aggressive attitude. Samanthas classes are the best. All too often youll hear Studio drama being talked about openly. I dont need to hear other yoga teachers criticize each other. Thats not why Im going to yoga. Gossip is rampant here. Omshala has more of a negative feel to it due to the air of pompous people who make it their business to assess your own personal growth instead of just minding their own business and practicing yoga. Peggys classes seem preachy as if shes got some lesson she wants to teach everyone because she knows more than them or something. Other than her piousness her classes are good for learning alignment. She is a really great teacher despite the way she comes across. Overall, I think this studio has a few good teachers yet they lose a lot of points because they think that theyre the best studio in town. Well it might be aesthetically pleasing its not pleasing to the heart.

Went to various flow classes 4-6 times a week for a month, then randomly for another 2 months... I meet maybe 6-8 different instructors. Everyone is nice and helpful. I only attended flow type classes, so i cant speak to the restorative classes. The level 2 flow classes were all labeled as "hot" classes, but compared to other studios... its definitely a warm class. Additionally, the flow classes were really repetitive- this was across instructors and time periods. The music during class can be so loud you cant hear the instructor. On the upside the sauna and showers are really nice. Bottom line, if youre an athlete/training and looking for a place to work on range of motion (restorative), or stability & balance (vinyasa flow), this probably inst the place for you- youll be alone here. If youre looking for a foo foo, stereotypical yoga studio with all the bells and whistles, this has everything you need. Update: 3/26/2017. Been attending Old School Hot Yoga 7 days a week for about 3 months. It speak volumes that the instructors from other local studios (including OmShala) go to Old School for their personal practice. Old school is a combination of Flow and Bikram, and focuss on Stability. So if youre looking for HOT yoga (no warm yoga), for less money, and less foo foo, check them out. Good luck!

Om Shala Yoga is my go-to yoga studio in Arcata. Just walking into their elegant environment relaxes my mind and body, let alone the magic that happens in the awesome variety of classes and workshops they offer. The energy of the staff and teachers always feels very personal and qualified....and where else can you end your yoga session with a free sauna? Absolutely the best.

I was recommended this place by a friend. I mentioned that I was looking for somewhere I could have taken a yoga class and a sauna. She told me that it had everything I wanted! She was right! Very nice place. clean sauna, clean shower. awesome all the way around

Beautiful, warm, clean and kind. Great atmosphere. Good vibes. I love Sashas class. Its challenging yet easy to tone down or pipe up depending on each yogis personal needs. -and great music.
