After living in L.A. for the last 10 years, I have sadly gotten use to the corporate automotive repair centers that dont have time for you, dont fix your car properly, and dont care. That is why my experience at Berkeley Auto Care was such a refreshing and positive experience. Ricky and his wife are extremely personable, professional, and efficient. They value your business and leave you with the comforting feeling that your car and wallet are in good hands. Even though their lot was filled with cars, I felt like I was a top priority. I left my car on a Thurs. evening and Ricky was already calling me the next morning with my car fixed and ready for pick-up. No small feat for needing a new part ordered, shipped, and installed...( I have had experiences at Pep Boys where this takes two days and I hear different excuses of wrong parts being ordered or their specialist not making it in to work). Their prices are fair and explained to you thoroughly. Plus, if you are a Cal Berkeley student, you get 10% off labor. The next time my car needs work done, I can assure you I will be taking it to Berkeley Auto Care.

I have had nothing but completely POSITIVE experiences at Berkeley Auto Care. Not only are they fantastic repairmen, but everyone who works there is incredibly nice, and more importantly - HONEST! Im always wary of auto care places, because its so easy to screw over the average citizen who knows very little about cars beyond oil changes and tire rotations. The first time I took my car there, I got an oil change for $24 with tax, which is a great price. And theyll check everything else out for you too. My car needed the transmission flushed, but the guy told me how much longer I could go without having it done. At my next oil change, he told me I needed my idler replaced, but told me if I didnt want to pay for that, I could have it cleaned for cheaper and it would last for another year or two. What a guy! I brought my friends here for oil changes and inspections too, and the guy then gave me discounts on my services. I REALLY love this place, and think everyone should go here!!!

not only is this the cheapest oil change around (about $25 with tax) but the mechanics thoroughly check your car for other things that could use some work. the first time they found my serpentine belt cracked and one of my valves leaking. their mechanical suggestions are not for their own business purposes but truly because they care that your car is working optimally. they do not make mechanical suggestions unless necessary and they are extremely honest in their work. this auto shop has an honorable amount of integrity and the only auto shop i will go to in berkeley!!!

I highly recommend Berkeley Auto Care. The service on my car was terrific, the people who work there super nice, and the prices very reasonable. I used to go to another auto shop down on San Pablo but a week after I took my car in for service there, it broke down on the San Rafael Bridge. Then I had some repairs done at a shop in Richmond, but my car still wasnt working right. The guys at Berkeley Auto Care were the only ones to correctly identify and fix the problem--at a very reasonable price. Definitely try Berkeley Auto Care!

Ricky is a brilliant auto mechanic, effective manager, and honest, amiable individual. I will never take my care to another auto mechanic. Over the course of all of my interactions with Berkeley Auto Care, I cant see a single way they could have improved my experience in any way. The service is quick, they are flexible about scheduling, they are helpful over the phone, they do a fantastic job, and the pricing is competitive. Ricky is a very, very hardworking individual and he does everything he can to ensure your satisfaction. Kudos!

After a terrible experience at the local firestone store, I tried this place. They are honest, friendly and get the work done right the first time. No complaints. They always offer options and understand when the repairs they recommend dont make sense. They located a small oil leak on my 1996 Pontiac Grand Am. After some checking they said it would be at least $750 to fix. Given the car is probably not worth much more than that they advised not doing the repair and just checking the oil regularly. I love that type of honesty.

When I brought my car in for a general checkup they called up and told me that I had a cooling water leak which they had to fix for $400. I found that surprising since the control lamp usually alerts you if this is the case. In addition they told me I needed my suspensions fixed for $1200 and some more small stuff for $200. Since those werent immediate things I said Im going to wait for a little and brought my car to another garage. They couldnt find anything even a year later. this is definitely a rip off!!!

Ricky, the head mechanic, is honest, friendly, and considerate. If you are low on cash he will definitely compromise with you and help you out in your situation; just let him no before hand and hell help you figure out a plan. He does his research and gives you options without a hint of deception. I got 4 18in wheels replaced for my mustang. It was at a very reasonable price and he made clear why and how the car was repaired. Labor and service is top-notch. Go there and find out for yourself!

We found Rickys Berkeley Auto Care literally "by accident" when our car broke down on the Bay Bridge and we had to have it towed back to Berkeley in the middle of the night. We just dropped it off and they fixed it the next day. They never recommend anything unnecessary and their prices are okay, as well. Very friendly service, too. Plus the student discount really helps. We can definitely recommend this company!!!

Came there 3 month ago to fix the brake pedal. They did the inspection for more than $200 and said there was nothing wrong with the brake. I had an accident partly due to the weak brake a month ago. I came to another auto shop, and they said someone did something incomplete to my brake around 3 month ago, made it even worse, and now they need to change it completely for $500 to make it work. Well.

This company truly cares about the customer. I had tires that were about the blow, and I stumbled upon this shop. The service manager, Ricky, quickly changed my tires below the shop closed and charged me an affordable price for the services. Because of that encounter, I have decided to make Berkeley Auto Care my preferred choice for auto repair.
