Incompetent and untrustworthy. My girlfriend drove the car in then had to have it towed home. Went in for a transmission diagnosis and a fluid change. Josh, who is not even a mechanic, told me that his technician Ryans diagnosis was that the transmission was slipping. Furthermore, Josh, somehow diagnosed that the car was also dying while driving. Yet he admitted to me that the vehicle did not do this during their test drive. Also when I asked Ryan separately on the phone if he had been involved in the diagnosis he said, "he glanced at it." Based on this he recommended a complete transmission swap. When my girlfriend declined to sign on a 3500 dollar plus charge, he refused to give her the keys. He said that the vehicle was not safe to drive. He forced my girlfriend to either repair the vehicle or tow it away. It gets worse and worse. I waited to talk to Josh before I wrote a review to get his side and my girlfriends side of the story. I am unsatisfied with the service. The diagnosis that cost 118 dollars was for all I can piece together either not done or done incompetently. The car has never died on us while driving, and the transmission never has "slipped." I wanted the shops opinion on some hard shifting that occurs from reverse to drive. The shop, being run by Josh is untrustworthy. We originally went to Meineke in Napa about a half a year ago, at the time Yelp gave it 4.5 stars, it has in that time dropped to 3.5 stars. Josh began working there during this time. Josh tried to upsell a young lady a transmission for 3500 dollars plus, from 100 dollar fluid change. After diagnosing the car as undrivable, the same one we are driving today, he asked my girlfriend what she would do. She said, if this were true, she may cut her loses and sell the car. Josh then told her she would make more money if she replaced the transmission then sold it. The car is worth about 4000 dollars in good shape. Just do the math. As soon as I heard this I knew he was trying to "upsell" her, thus is untrustworthy. Incompetent, insulting work, and wasting a Saturday.

I had my breaks changed here a year ago. It cost $750. As I was driving home, I noticed the breaks werent as reactive as they were before they were changed out (like literally pressed the breaks and nothing would happen for a second or two). I took the car back to the shop and they told me that this was normal and that the breaks needed to settle in. They also said that everything would resolve itself in about a week. 3 weeks later I had to slam on the breaks in Oakland traffic and ended up steering to the shoulder to avoid hitting the cars in front of me. Since then, Ive been keeping the car mostly in town as much as possible. I recently had the car diagnosed by my father in law (who is a mechanic and owns his own auto shop). A year later, the breaks will need to be replaced because they were installed incorrectly.

Our car had some battery/starter/alternator issues and Meineke was the only open shop at the time we needed help. It was hot 105 degrees or so and Dave took care of us, he and his team conducted three tests on the systems and found nothing wrong with the car. Instead of giving us a hodgepodge answer he was straight with us stating that he didnt know what was causing the issue (given the three tests he ran) and gave us recommendations/next steps. When we asked what the total was he said nothing, I didnt do anything! Wow!! The dude and team spent a good 45 min looking at the car and he charged us nothing and didnt try to sell us anything!! I would go back to Dave just because of his professionalism, respect for his customers and integrity. Needless to say I highly recommend this place.

My experience was ok. I feel like i was over charged for brakes done. Ive never paid 800 dollars for brakes before I kind of feel like it was a scam. The original total was 4.000 and change for a whole bunch of things that i truly dont believe i needed ast the time. Left feeling irritated. Plus Had to have someone else work on My brakes because they still made noise. I mean just because Im a woman traveling alone with two children dont think Im a sucker. I wont be back. Thank u.

They could not have done a better job. The people are friendly and helpful, their work was impeccable, and the price was well below what I expected to pay walking in. Id recommend this place to anyone.
