I have spent nearly 3 years searching for the perfect hair stylist and salon in the Bay Area. What is "perfect" you may ask? My requirements (and likely YOUR needs) are: *** attention to detail *** ability to listen to customer needs and wants *** execute above needs and wants *** check in occasionally to make sure interpretation of above needs/wants is correct *** an eye for perfection *** ability to understand basic (and preferably advanced) color chemistry *** stay abreast of trends/know-how to execute *** dont be afraid of silence - as in, do not talk to me for 4 hours straight asking endless questions about my personal life to fill what otherwise would be a perfectly peaceful moment *** price! (I could go on and on) In my relentless hunt (and because I love to experiment with my hair), I have popped into random Chinese beauty salons (emerged looking like a zebra, much to the horror of my friends), went to fancy places where the tab always seemed to exceed $500 yet the result was never overly impressive (I know, tragic), beauty schools (looooooong sessions for basic and often imperfect cuts), barber shops (often lacking attention to detail, differential pricing for women for same short cut), African hair salons (unfortunately, there may be a very fine line between experimentation and cultural appropriation), and pretty much everything in between you could fathom... After all, life is best when lived as a fun experiment, especially when it comes to hair! I am ecstatic to report that La Petite Hair Salon is hair perfection personified! They have consistently met and exceeded all my above needs. Both stylists are incredibly amazing when it comes to skill level and personality, great reception even when I walk in on the spur of the moment, they take the time to make sure that my often tricky color is perfect (and listen when I tell them which Peroxide volume I will need - unlike other stylists who always seem to assume that hair chemistry is their sole domain). Also, they are flabbergastingly inexpensive, which of course means that I get to tip LOTS - I encourage you to do the same, after all, tips for service are most gratifying! The male to female customer ratio also seems balanced, which is always nice in a salon (as I want both my male and female friends to have great haircuts!). So, if you are looking for an inexpensive yet PERFECT cut or color (make an appointment for color though), give La Petite Hair Salon a go!

Very good haircut for an excellent price. You rarely have to wait longer than 10 minutes, the staff is super friendly and it is always nice to chat with them. And most importantly, they know how to cut hair. It is nothing face though and you cannot compare it to a Vidal Sassoon salon but you also only pay a fraction of what youd elsewhere. All in all a great salon and I go there regularly for more than 2 years now.

My stylist was fantastic! I went from having long hair to cutting it very short and she was with me every step of the way making sure it was exactly like I wanted! She took her time even though there were other people waiting and made me feel like I was her number one priority. I will be back! 10 out of 10.

Nothing but success from La Petite. I have only heard good things about their service from both men and women. Call ahead to make an appointment or you might be stuck waiting for a bit if you walk in.
