I want to be clear that I contacted the branch of this company in Woodland Hills, CA. It was hard to find them on Angies List once I moved, since Angies list will only let you search in the area where you currently live unless you pay extra. This company was good on the packing end in the San Fernando Valley. They were prompt and efficient and took good care of our stuff. They were flexible on pick up dates since our close of escrow kept being postponed. Then came the problems. We bought a new house in another state, a four days drive away, and needed a "walk through" with the builders before they would close escrow. The builders were on a tight schedule, and it was hard for us to coordinate with them and the movers and establish when the movers would arrive with our stuff. These movers were very rigid about their "window," threatening to get to the new location before us, put our stuff in storage, charge us for that, and then charge us again to move it into our new home. In fact, our stuff sat in storage in Los Angeles and they did not get it to our new home until the very last day at the very last possible minute of their "window,” late in the evening. The crew that unloaded our boxes and furniture were chaotic and seemingly inefficient. There was little organization or plan for unloading stuff and putting it where they belonged. They were supposed to put all the furniture that was taken apart back together, but only put furniture back together at my specific request, and left some articles ]in pieces in the garage, still wrapped in plastic. They gouged and smudged the walls in the stairwell, left things willy-nilly all over the garage, including a horrendous mountain of huge cardboard boxes, tape, and packing materials, which I had to clean up and pay to have hauled away on top of the $5000 I paid them. Unloading took them from around seven thirty at night until after midnight, so they were outside their “window” by then! The whole experience was on-beyond nightmarish. I do not know about local moves, or within-state moves, but I would NOT recommend this company for interstate moves. They did offer to come back and repair the damage to my walls and stairwell when my son called and told them what happened, but I was really done with this outfit.

Can I just say NorthStar is amazing! If I could give them more stars I would. First of all Moving is such a pain anyway and this one was just pure stress. We had a date set and everything in motion except movers. We had called, emailed a bunch of places, and honestly I had had enough I wasnt comfortable with anyone and they all seemed shady. My boyfriend then took over and within minutes sent me this link. I called and Spoke to Beatrice and immediately was at ease. She was so nice and informed me of everything you would hope a company would tell you even the "hidden" fees as you would say. Which they didnt have any. They were Very honest. We had an apartment set to move and the date then we lost the first place due to someone not wanting to leave and had to "settle" for another one. This pushed our move up 2 weeks, I called Beatrice freaking out nearly crying worried we would have to pay an extra fee because we had moved up our move, She told me not to worry they would work it out. She put me on hold for a few moments got on the line and assured me they could have 3 guys for me on the day and it WOULD NOT COST EXTRA!!!!! What!? The moving day came and we had 3 guys Christian, Christo, and Jaime. Let me tell you these poor guys had stairs everywhere. Not one complaint out of there mouth! They smiled and were even joking with me throughout the process. They were all very nice and moved fast! We had them for 4 hours and I knew it would be longer we had a ton of stuff and Heavy stuff at that. All in all it took about 7 hours and it costs us under $700. Honestly It was well beyond worth it! I cant imagine moving ourselves and NorthStar made the "MOVING" Part so easy and painless. Thank you so much. I am beyond grateful. Thank God m Boyfriend found you guys I will so use you agan when we move next time and 1000% Recommend you! Thank you for Working with us and making the move easy... Youre the best!

Weve had nothing but a harrowing and horrible experience with North Star Movers. Everyone from Alan Trudel, to Ronald Hernandez have been not only unreachable when you need answers or clarification, theyre rude to you when you finally do get them on the phone. When Alan came to the house to do our cross-country move estimate, we mentioned my wife was pregnant and would need a full-service move - full packing an unpacking services, which we were quoted a little over 10K for, then when we call back to confirm, their team says no we didnt ask for unpacking services. They need to charge us more money, which we still agreed to even though we already got hit with your bait and switch tactics. Now the driver who is delivering our belongings says unpacking isnt included, this wasnt communicated to him by North Star, let alone he says his delivery team is not touching anything that wasnt packed by North Star? We paid you to pack up all our goods, WTF are you talking about? Another bunch of red flags to that. Then when we call Ronald who has never once in our month long ordeal returned calls when we ask, we have to chase him down, then has the audacity to laugh and think this is a joke? This ordeal has been the worst I have experienced in all of my moves, and Ive had bad ones, and yet Ive paid the most for this one. The more you pay, the worse the experience. The least North Star could provide us with is good customer service, not this BS. But well see if reaching out to the BBB is worth anything, but definitely getting lawyers involved as weve documented the entire experience. From calls, to non-response, emails sent, and recorded telephone conversations. You just dont treat customers like this, not when you pay this much money and are playing with peoples personal possessions.

Great experience with NorthStar Moving! I called around a few moving companies and NorthStar came in at the best hourly rate, then I discovered a Yelp deal which added to the value! The community association at our new apartment complex was a bit nit-picky about getting a COI and having them sign a moving rules handout but the customer service agents were professional, so helpful and handled everything for us, including a confirmation call a few days before our move. On moving day, our crew, Haitham and his other 2 team members, were very efficient! Haitham called about an hour before they arrived and when they arrived they were ready to work and got our 2 bedroom apartment cleared out in 2 hours, including wrapping furniture. We did have one piece of furniture at the end of the move that the guys couldnt get in to our new apartment so we were a little bit stuck with what to do- it ended up in our parking spot and we found a solution but wish NorthStar had been slightly more accommodating to offer storage or another option. At the end, the whole move took about 5 hours. The only surprise was that they charged us for tape and shrink wrap (an additional $117!). I do remember being told during my booking that we would be charged for any materials that couldnt be reused but I wasnt reminded and I wouldnt say the guys were going light on the tape. Overall a positive experience- thank you NorthStar!
