I only wish I would have read the reviews before I signed up for this gym (again)... About 6 months ago, I cancelled my 8 month membership with the gym. The staff was unfriendly, they had just changed their hours and the gym was overall extremely dirty. A week ago, I called 21st Century Health (it was cheap, close and open 24 hours most days of the week and had hoped they changed their ways) and they quoted me 29 dollars/month over the phone and they said I would have to put no money down since I had already paid the 147$ initiation fee my first time around. I asked if I could come in and get a quick tour at about midnight in a couple of days and they said it wouldnt be a problem at all and that I was welcome to sign up at that time. Well, 2 days ago I went in with my boyfriend and the man working the desk (Mikey) said that he couldnt honor the 29 dollar rate that we were quoted but that he could do a 34 dollar/month rate. We agreed and signed contracts(which took almost 30 minutes) saying that we would put no money down and that we would pay 34/month and we started our workout. Well, we went in last night and Mikey tells us that actually, we would have to pay 39/month and put 78 dollars down each. Now, we were in our workout clothes and not in the mood to argue. We told him that we would need to talk to someone about that because we didnt feel it was fair since we had already signed a contract. He didnt seem mad, and I know that it was not his idea to raise our rates. So, today I went in and asked to speak with the manager (Hi, Angeline!). As I was talking to her, my jaw was literally on the floor the whole time. Even as I write this, I am in disbelief at what she had to say to a client. I can assure you that I am in no way exaggerating or misquoting her. She said that it was our fault that the contract was done wrong and that Mikey was just trying to do us a FAVOR by signing us up. She also said that she had shredded our contracts because they didnt mean anything. She said that Mikey isnt "one of the people that does the contracts" and that we should have known we couldnt sign up with him. WHAT?! I explained that when I got into a business, I expect the person there to know what they are doing, or at least tell me if they dont know what they are doing. If he had just told me he wasnt the person that did the contracts and couldnt do it, I would have happily come back at another time. I asked her if she was more interested in keeping a client or making as much money as possible and she said making money. I also told her how much I would enjoy staying a member and she said that she could care less if my boyfriend and I were members or not and that her life would be the same either way. During all of this, the personal trainers (which were all like dentists with bad teeth, if you get what I mean) were behind her laughing at me. I made her write me a dated note saying that we would not be charged (since she had "shredded" the contracts) because, to be honest, I know I am not the first person they have messed with as far as billing. I want people to know that today was my worst customer experience ever in my life. Angeline should NOT be in any guest service business. She blatantly told me that she does NOT care about my experience there, and when I told her that she was losing two clients today she said she didnt care about that, either. WARNING, all possible future customers of this dingy, unprofessional and vulgar gym- They do not honor rates or even signed contracts . All they care about is your money. I am usually a calm person, but this upset me so much that I took the time to get online and write this so that I can help get the word out that this place is a waste of time- especially when there are nicer gyms (like Callinan Sports and Fitness Center) just down the road.... P.S. The man that was cleaning the restrooms walked in on me BOTH nights here. I would have mentioned that, too but no one really cares there.

Very disappointing! I went in to sign up for their 29 a month no initiation fee sale only to find that it was a completely misleading and false advertising. After having a multitude of more expensive gimicky plans presented to me I finally said, "Look, I came in for a month to month membership as advertised and expected access to the gym 7 days a week for that price as their was no conditions put into their websight advertisement." I told them if they had a plan where I could hand them 50 or less today and pay month to month, they would have my business that second. I was then presented with another convoluted twisted list of choices at which point I told them I couldnt see myself signing any contract they decided to slip me as they seemed so dishonest I wouldnt sign any contract with them without having a lawyer look at it first.

Ive been a member for 2 years. Ive had great luck with the staff, theyre always at least polite and usually quite nice. I think the infrastructure of the building itself is way old, kind of poorly designed, literally crumbling in places (particularly ladies locker room), and entirely too small for the amount of people using it. The equipment is good, but the sauna and hot tub are just not well kept at all (read: extremely horrific and gross!) and the indoor pool is absolutely freezing in wintertime even though it is supposed to be heated, which is just a shame. I overlooked all of this because the club is convenient to me. However, I find at this point the majority of members have no problem being nasty and rude, which is ultimately why I am quitting. I am tired of the stress and attitude when I go to work out.

Many of you know my by my stage name, "Tyler Reks". Im a professional wrestler with WWE and Im on the Monday Night RAW roster. I wanted to let everyone in the area know that 21st Century Health Club is a phenomenal gym! Not just because they have everything I need to get a workout in, but they have all sorts of aerobics classes for my wife and daycare as well for our little one. On top of all that, the staff is beyond cool. Paul and his crew always go out of their way to say hi and make sure Im happy. Hats off to you guys! Great job, great gym! -T.Reks

Over the last year, my wife and I have been coming to 21st Century Health Club 4 days a week. The results have put us in the best shape of our lives. The classes instructed by Alicia, Nancy, Tracy for Zumba, Sculpting and Spinning are my wifes favorite classes. She even tries to leave work early to make all of them. All the personal trainers Rich, Molly, Kelly, and Nancy, show real interest in their clients and that is huge! I recommend them to all my friends. The Clubs vibe can be expressed in one word...LOCAL. You have to come to enjoy the excitement.
