Ok...I dont normally do this kinda thing and Ill preface this by acknowledging that not every customer is going to have an excellent experience every time. In all fairness, a knee jerk review could potentially cause an otherwise eager to please business difficulties in establishing and maintaining a customer base. However, today I decided to use the newly remodeled and presumably newly managed car wash at Springdale and Edinger after our weekend of rainfall. As most of us similarly regard, my car is an investment that I maintain well. I was not pleased. I opted for the "Duke" wash because it offered the "rainbow wax" feature. Probably not an effective means by which to keep your car waxed but I like to believe that Im taking that extra little margin of lazy man effort and truthfully enjoy watching the snazzy colored foam envelop my car in an imagined protective shield. Worth the 3 bucks more but Ive learned, you must watch more times than not to ensure they actually push this button. As in times past, this did not happen and I brought it to the managers attention. He seemed concerned enough to offer a second time through but time was a premium for me and I informed him that if it went to the back of the line, I would prefer the difference. He said that he would have the workers put it right through and I was content with this. What I was not content with was the attitude exhibited by either his boss or the owner who was obviously not aware that I was watching their exchange. He asked the manager what my complaint was and seemed irritated by his response and genuinely disinterested in the interruption. Not a big deal but the finished product was honestly the worst car wash that Ive ever received after paying the 20 dollars. I keep my car in better than good condition so Im not one of those people expecting a miracle or a nearly free detail with annoying expectations. They might as well not have vacuumed and the floor mats were still full of sand. The wipe down was obviously rushed and the dried dirt drops from the weekends rain was still visible. The windows looked cloudy and covered in a film that revealed the workers incomplete area of concentration. There were more observations but the general theme was that I had wasted nearly $25.00...yes...I still tipped. Why? Because the guy doing what I was unwilling to do still has to go home to his family and probably works much harder than I do. Therefore, he cannot be faulted for the "hurry up" culture of turnaround that may be reinforced at this establishment. I will not be using this establishment again but my aggravation was too much to ignore. Most of us pay a good chunk of change for the necessity of vehicle ownership and although we may be experiencing drought conditions in this state, the expectation of a decent car wash from time to time should not feel like a complete rip off.

We took our Van to have the interior detailed on Monday 6/21/2010 to Marina Carwash of Hunting Beach. We generally have the car detail twice a year. This is the first time we used Marina to detail our van. We have been going our weekly wash there for the past six months. I explained that our dog had an accident on the passenger side and we wanted it cleaned. Antonio said he understood, he would take care of it. I asked if the car would be ready by 5:00. I told him the car was in good shape and I wanted him to concentrate on the front seat. Antonio assured me that they had plenty of time to do the complete inside. At 5:15 they called and at 5:30 I paid $201 before I could see the Van. The seats were so wet they handed me plastic to sit on. When I told him that I needed my car for work and that I take people around in it, he said I could take more plastic. It should be dry by tomorrow and if they had more time, it would have dried. They tossed the floor mats into the back of the van because the floor was as wet. We are NOT talking damp to the touch, we are speaking dripping wet. Push the seat down and a water pool is visible. I told him that our normal detailer returns it close to dry when they do it. Antonio said that those folks don’t clean it like it should be done because this is the proper way. I drove the van off the lot heading towards home, which is 4 miles away. I notice a rattle about two blocks from their lot and when I located the noise. I touch the steering column and realize the cover of the steering column was completely loose. I pulled over to inspect it. I used the locking lever to move the steering wheel and saw that the steering collar was no longer attached. It just laid wrapped around the column. I immediately went back and spoke to Antonio. He told me it was either like that when I brought it in to have the interior detailed or I broke it when I move the steering wheel. After several minutes of repeating himself, we agreed to leave the car and he would speak to the detailer. This morning I called and spoke with Antonio. Antonio told me that “the detailer is an honest person; he would not lie because he has been working there for 13 years and does not have a reason to lie” I realized that I was not about to get much help from him and this is the reason I decided to write my first review. To sum my experience at Marina Car Wash of Huntington Beach I was told that I either had the interior of my Van detailed knowing that I had a broken steering column cover or that I broke it when I moved the steering wheel – either way, it was my fault and NOT theirs. Beware of this place – it will happen to you.

As the other reviewer stated,... beware of this place. I sent my daughter in with my atm card with instructions to reload my carwash card with 6 more car washes and have her car washed with it. She did so and brought back my car wash card with the purchases on it. My husband then took the card in with my car for a wash and was told he couldnt use it for my car only my daughters car. He was made to pay for a car wash at the regular price of $21. For this they were suppose to clean and vacuum the interior too. When I got in the car today for the first time the windows were greasy with film, the interior was greasy as well and the rear compartment had not been vacuumed or touched. I was pissed needless to say and returned to the establishment to have the car re-cleaned. The manager was more than a little rude and said he remembered my car and that we were trying to pull a fast one by having too many cars cleaned with one card. I tried to explain that I paid for 6 washes on the card so it should not matter whose car it was. He told me I was SOL, but he would see if he could get the back vacuumed and clean the windows again. I decided to go to see the cashier for a explanation. When she told me the Surf City Car Wash was under new ownership but that I had 6 car washes left on my card, I asked for my money back. She said she could not do that and offered to explain to the new manager the rules for the use of the card. I waited for sometime for the work to be completed until I happened upon the new owner. I explained my situation and experience and was told so sorry the manager was new and didnt understand. But I could still use the 6 car washes in the future. Not a CHANCE OF THAT HAPPENING. I AM OUT NEARLY $60 BUCKS. But I will take the hit cause Im not going back. Especially after reading their one and only review. This place is a disaster and you use them at your own risk. BEWARE!!!!!!!
