The fitness aspect of this gym is decent if youre wanting to just get in shape. The value is good at $10/mo. However, they lost 3 of the 4 stars I would have given them when I tried to cancel my membership. First of all, you cant just call and cancel, not the store and not corporate, you have to send a certified letter asking to cancel your membership. Who the heck wants/has time to send a certified letter. This is 2015. We have phones and networks. This is an absolute ploy to make more money. By making it difficult to cancel they do one of two things. 1) They will retain your membership and the fees that go along with it, by making it so difficult to cancel that you will forget and just keep paying for months or even years without using their services. 2) At the very least they hope that by the time your letter is received and "processed" they will have billed you for one more cycle to get that extra $10. Its a racket and if you ask me, its dishonest and bad business. Now, my bank account was hacked and there was fraudulent activity so Wells Fargo changed my account number. In doing so, Ive spent the past month trying to update all of my automatic payment information. One that I overlooked was Planet Fitness. Now, mind you, Im completely willing and able to pay, but I called to update the payment info and they want to charge me a late fee since the payment was supposed to automatically come out 3 days prior. 3 days people. I exlained myself and they said that if I come in to the store and put a check on file, theyll waive the late fee. Mind you, I havent been to this gym in over 5 months. So, I said, Id like to just come in and pay the $10 that is past-due then cancel the account. They said if I cancel my membership they wont be able to waive the late fee. DOES THIS MAKE ANY SENSE? THEYLL DO IT FOR ME, BUT NOT IF IM GOING TO CANCEL? I really wish there was some sort of "Better Business Bereau" that actually made a difference, but there isnt. Theyll just keep on milking people $10 at a time and continue to climb the way up the Forbes list. The Road to Planet Fitness success is paved with dishonest business practices. Shame on you Planet Fitness.

Let me state that my main gym is the Alhambra location but I am switching it to La Puente because of my current living situation. When I arrived at the La Puente PF, I was a little saddened. The reason for this was that the place was just over-crowded. Yes, there was a lot of people and I went at a peak time but that isnt what bothered me. The equipment, particularly the cardio machines, were too close to one another. It seemed claustrophobic in comparison to other PF locations. Anyways, the other thing that really annoyed me was that at all PF locations, they have paper towels and sanitizer for the equipment. At this particular location, La Puente, every single spray bottle that I picked up was literally broken or falling apart. So, Id attempt to squirt the sanitizer and it was just dribbling everywhere, all over my hands and just made a mess. I dont see why they cant have those bottles/nozzles replaced, especially when they are located right next to a 99 cent store that sells them. The water was also pretty warm coming out of the water fountain that is provided, so that was disappointing because some cooler water really refreshens you while working out. The staff was nice and everything seemed clean, but just those little nuances really bugged me, especially because that was my initial visit at La Puente PF. Other than that, I would recommend Planet Fitness to anyone who is looking for an economical choice for a gym and also one that has many locations for convenience while traveling or if you have recently moved. The staff is always friendly and informative, giving the customers the support that they need!

For the most part I like PF, I have been a gym rat, Iron head, muscle head, knuckle dragger for over 45 years and seen and done all the Corporate gyms, social clubs and alot of dungeon gyms in my time. I like the LP location because I can walk the 2.75 miles to/from home. The facility is always clean and I schedual around peak time. I like the 12&30 min. centers and Hammer machines (only heavy lifts)for controle. I dont use the Iron as I have a free weight gym at home. I agree the majority of the counter staff do not great you ( mostly young and inexperienced in customer service) the older staff always do. It would be a great idea if self scan of barcode was available when staff is busy or inattentive. I dont mind not being greeted. Now for the negative stuff: I DO NOT EVER WANT TO WAIT TO CHECK IN especially when young people are indulging themselves ( cell phones, idle chit chat) on the clock . Having to get someones attention at the front desk for any reason is unacceptable. As a retired equipent/ machine tech I have pet Pievs: poor preventive maintenance. Machine plates and increment dials without increment lables, adjusters not functioning, water fountains unfiltered or filter not changed. All I have experienced at this location. For those reasons PFLP lost 1 ☆ for customer service and preventive maintenance. I do plan on upgrading to Black Card in October mostly for PF availability when vacationing. I may transfer if the issues get worse. As they are indicative to underlying management issues.

I use to like this place until one day I went in to workout and they said I cant because old acct wasnt cancel I told them it was I went in myself and stoppedal it they were like theres no document showing it I told well the guy who helped us said that was it that is cancelled now they say I owe them 288 dollars if that was they case why dont they call you and let you know that you need to pay it instead of just keep charging you without you knowing thats so wrong I see why there cheap pay cause they cheat people out of money using there acct they dont really cancel it sad thing is that was the only place I could afford because Im disable cant work and my only income is 300 a month also if I didnt cancel it Im not stupid to go back again under same info and same gym.

This place was not too crowded the one time I visited with lots of machines available to work out. The reason Im giving it a three star rating is because of the state of their equipment, specifically the treadmills, the belts are extremely worn out. The first one I used slipped on me while I was running, the attendants did not seem to care about the safety concern as the person I informed of the issue dismissed. They had not tagged the piece of equipment at the time I left the place, about 45 minutes later. Please be careful choosing the machine you are going to use!

I would like to start off saying that this place has very poor customer service. Ive been coming here to train for a few months and the times Ive come in I had the wait to check in because some girl at the front desk was chatting with a coworker and didnt even notice me come in, I stood there standing for a minute and I had to speak up in order for her to see me. They also dont greet you they just ignore you. So unprofessional! Just bunch of teenage boys and girls that work there.The equipment could be better. This place is a joke!
