Before joining this gym, I read all the reviews on Yelp, Google, Yahoo etc.. and almost didnt even bother to come in and take a tour. Since it was so close to work, I decided to go in during my lunch break and look around. They had me sign a waiver, and walked me around showing me all of the machines and answering whatever questions I had(class schedules etc..) The guy was nice, wasnt pushy or anything(he did ask me to leave the name and number of anyone I know whod be interested in joining as well - lol I declined and that was that) overall the gym didnt seem so bad so I signed up for the 2 week trial, then went ahead and got the Costco deal(2 years for $300 after that). Ive been going now for two months, 4 times a week and have yet to experience any of the problems people complain about. Yes, one of the elliptical machines broke but someone was out there fixing it the next day(which broke again, haha - still broken a week later, maybe theyre ordering parts??). I go anytime between 11-5 and have never needed to wait for any machines. I havent noticed any odd smells(for a gym anyways) and the bathrooms are clean. The lockers are big enough to hold my medium sized gym bag and work clothes, and the showers have always had shampoo/soap in them.. always had hot water. Its mostly professionals working out on their lunch or day off.. people get in, do their thing and leave.. NICE. The Hermosa Beach facility was fully of chatty people, and even worse at the Torrance location which is full of high school kids. Your experience may vary, Im sure it gets busy after 5-6pm (never been there past 6 so cant comment on that). I havent taken any of the classes yet, but from what Ive seen they fill up FAST. I hope my experience helps someone out there looking to join. I will update this review if anything major happens!

This is the first time Ive reviewed a place online but this club definitely warrants it. Ive been attending this club for several years. It was a Family Fitness Center prior to becoming 24Hour Fitness. Since 24hour acquired this location, there has not been any effort made to remodel the site. Today, it is in desperate need of modernization. Other reviews here are accurate. The cardio machines are on par with other clubs. The Mens locker room however is dirty. It is obvious that there is no care taken by the custodial staff. The same bandaid has been sitting in the corner of the same shower stall for over a week and there is no toilet paper available in the bathroom stall early Monday morning. If youre coming in for a workout and do not expect to use the locker rooms then this club is more than adequate. However, since this club is situated in a commercial area and ideally suited to people who are near/at work, then the locker rooms should definitely be updated. There are many options available in this area and if they expect to attract any new customers and not lose any to their competitors, 24hour should definitely put some effort into modernizing this place.

Ive been coming to this gym for about 3-4 years now (not by choice) due to its close proximity to work. The big open room where spin class takes place and where I do my warm-up/stretch routine is usually very dusty, dirty, and either spiders, ants and/or dust balls in every corner. The work-out mats dont seem to be clean and are very worn down so I place my towel down on top and try and try to avoid skin contact with the mat. I understand that although it is a club rule to wipe down the machines after use not everyone does it or does it well, its definitely recommended you wipe it down before you start as well. It doesnt look like the cleaning staff is assigned to sterilize the equipment on a daily bases. Its nice that they have placed spray bottles with I hope is a sterilizing agent and paper towel dispensers in key locations. I highly recommend you do not make any skin contact with anything in here. Bottom line, this place needs a scrub down badly!

I read several reviews on Yelp for 24 Hour Fitness in Manhattan Beach stating that they had front desk people who were snobs. Usually I ignore these reviews because sometimes you catch people on a bad day or theres some other temporary reason for a persons poor behavior. But boy were they right. The front desk people are indeed huge snobs. RUDE!! I went to sign up and the guy started bombarding me with a ton of questions, literally spending 5 minutes asking me questions. I dont mind being asked questions in a "get to know you" manner but with this guy I felt like I was being interrogated by a cop. This guy drove me away - actually telling me to go to another gym. A real attitude problem. I also read several reviews on Yelp that the place was gross and that the bathrooms were disgusting. I will take their word for it.

Its fine... nothing special. Younger crowd, professional and non-professional. I havent taken classes at this location. Its on the bottom floor of a commercial building so parking is gated and is a pain. There is no street entrance from Rosecrans. They have a good variety of machines. But theres always 2-3 elipticals that are broken and most of the machines have significant wear and tear. I go there out of convenience, but theres definitely nicer 24 hour gyms in the South Bay. You get what you pay for here.

I only come here because ita close to work. Even after they remodeled this place especially the ladies locker/bathroom is still gross! They did nothing to the locker room and it smells and has major sewer problems. The good thing is the cardio machines all work fine and theres never a wait when I go. Tip: bring your parking ticket with you. They validate for 2 hours.

Its really packed right now with the early part of the year, but going right at 5 probably doesnt help either. All the workers are really nice, equipment is 95% good, and theres definitely enough water fountains and paper dispensars. If it happened to be a little bigger, it would be better, but theres no more room in the floor it takes up. Still my go to 24 tho

Besides being one of the smallest 24s Ive been to it smells horrible due to poor ventilation. The machines, weights and equipment are old and out of date. Maintenance was nonexistent. The gym also lacks a basketball court, steam room and pool. Theres also no bike rack so youll have to use a handicap sign pole. Its not worth coming here.

I came here to see if it would be a good gym for me and my family to get a little exercise. I wouldn’t recommend this gym for families. The facility wasn’t very clean and the sales staff was too pushy for me. The price is not bad, but you get what you pay for. I’ll pass.

Of all of the 24 Fitness gyms that I have been to this one is probably the most run down. The disappointing thing is that its in Manhattan Beach so youre expecting it to be a little nicer. Its got a lot of old run down equipment but a decent amount of space.
