I mostly go here to use the pool. When I first signed up for my membership, I was disappointed with the condition the pool would be in on a day to day basis. Some days, the water would be cloudy, others it was acceptable. After bringing it to the attention of the staff, I received a call from corporate asking about my complaint. Not a week after this call, I go back to In Shape to find a very well maintained pool with a proper chemical to solids balance. It has bow been over a month and the pool has been generally great the entire time. I am very pleased with the customer service this facility provides and the speed at which they react to inquiries. Other than the pool, the free weight room is laid out well to allow for many people to lift without getting in eachothers way. On occasion, a member will take up a large cable machine for an exercise that could be done elsewhere, but in general, the flow is nice. The cardio machines all have audio hookups that allow one to listen to one of about 15 tvs mounted on the walls. I dont use this feature, but its a good touch for people who need that extra push to get to the gym. The changing rooms are kept very clean and have very nice showers, but it does not connect to the pool, making it so that the members have to leave the locker room, walk down one of the main halls, and into the pool area. The can cause some water to pool right in front of the locker room entrance as the members move from the pool area back to the lockers. Small design flaw, but nothing big. Overall, this facility is very nice with friendly staff and trainers. Try out their free 7 day trial and find out for yourself!

Just canceled my membership here. I have been bringing in my own equipment to this gym for months, since I train in parkour and the gym doesnt have all the equipment I need for my workouts. Today in mid work out I was told by a sales associate that I "could not bring in my own equipment to this gym." ok...why? He didnt know why, just that his GM said so. alright.... I talked to a manager who had seen me multiple times with my own equipment. Asked the manager why I could not use my own equipment. He also said he didnt know. Then said it was due to insurance. This was when I asked to cancel my membership. The GM did not attempt to talk to me. I had to go to her. Her staff asked and stated they would like to keep me. GM did nothing of the sort. But what does she care? They just signed up 200 new people. Poor job by upper management handling this. Dont come here if you have any alternative training styles or methods.

Great gym. The best thing about them is the flexibility in their plans. Not only its affordable, you can also adjust your plans however you prefer, no commitment. Its also spacious, well facilitated, includes a variety of machines, in addition to a hot tub, and sauna. However, I noticed that theres an ant problem, especially where stretching mats are, hence I could only give this particular gym a 4 out of 5 rating. Otherwise, this could well be the best gym in Monterey

Very good and friendly staff. Clean, spacious facility (compared to Golds gym), nice swimming pool. Nice weight rooms. Reasonable prices. They tell you the real price for the mmemebership they dtheytell you half of the price and then they surprise you with the final price. I found it to be a very clean, neat and down to earth place to workout and swim for the entire family.

There arent enough squat racks or room for free weights, but there is a ton of cardio equipment. I wish they offered more classes and had a better selection. The pricing is also way higher than anywhere else I have ever lived. Gym memberships shouldnt take such a big chunk out of your paycheck, especially when they have outdated equipment laying around.

Only gym I know that has a child care area. Cheaper than the sports center. Indoor pool, racket ball courts, lots of equipment, great staff. This place is hard to beat. Rates are really good. Never had to wait for a cardio machine and seldom wait for any other machines and didnt wait long when I did have to.

Gym is well maintained. Weight room equipment looks pretty new. Treadmills are in good working order. Swimming pool is clean. My only gripe is that I wish management made a better effort to enforce the "no shoes" policy in the steam room and sauna.

Lots of equipment, though a bit jumbled and not grouped alike. Low lighting is probably to cloak the fact that the place needs a real good cleaning. Pool seemed cloudy - must be a problem with the filter, but in either case did not look appealing.

My car got broken in to. My sisters car was broken in to too. Two weeks ago another guys car got broken into. They do not do anything to help keep our cars safe. What know some one needs to get hurt out side.

Very decent gym. If you are in the area golds gym is a bit nicer, but in-shape has a wider range of things to do: pool, racquetball, steam room
