My son has been attending Sunshine House for 3 months now. He started 1 month after he turned 2 years old in December 2015. As a fellow educator, currently teaching 2nd grade and previously taught preschool, I was very specific in what I was looking for. I began looking into preschools in May 2015. Many people recommended Sunshine House for their academic program as well as emotional commitment to the children. I choose Sunshine House because I was drawn to their mixed age school and curriculum as well as cleanliness. I found the mixed age school very important because I want my son to have the option to work with kids his age as well as those older with more advance skills. Children learn best through watching, playing, and teaching other children. I was very pleased that Sunshine House allows children the opportunity to choose where they want to play during the free play while also providing structured educational activities. Sunshine House exposes him to various things from letters to critical thinking activities. Since enrolling I have already noticed an increase in his academics as well as language. I also appreciate that Sunshine House uses ASL and music as well as other mediums to teach subjects. I found them to be one of the most developmentally appropriate programs for the preschool age (2-5). I also found them to be the cleanliest facility. The staff is very thorough in cleaning rooms as well as toys. I anticipated that my son would get sick within the first few weeks, however after 3 months he has not been sick once. I also liked that they kept low teacher to student ratios and promoted healthy eating habits by providing healthy snacks and encouraging parents to pack healthy lunches. All of these reasons lead to my decision to enroll my son with them, but what is my number one reason now is their attention to my son. He had a great first 2 days then he started to have a difficult time transitioning. Every day the teachers took great care in comforting him when he was dropped off (either by me or my mother in law) and always gave updates during pick up. Since the children are able to play in different areas throughout the day they come into contact with various teachers and I have always been impressed with how informed each teacher has been about my sons day. When I came to pick up I always made an effort to watch my son before going to get him and I have seen how they comfort him when hes upset. Prior to enrollment I was very impressed with their program and philosophy but now I am more pleased with how they have helped my son adjust to preschool. He always says he loves preschool and now has transitioned beautifully. I highly recommend Sunshine House to any parent looking for a well-rounded, developmentally appropriate preschool. Their staff and program is exceptional!

Being a first time parent, I was feeling lost about what my daughter "should" know and when. I know we are told that every kid develops at their own pace, but lets be real- parents are always worried and compare regardless! My two and a half year old daughter doesnt talk much, so it has been hard for me to figure out where she really stands. But since starting at Sunshine House, I no longer worry. Although shes still not talking much, what she DOES say has me over the moon. She loves puzzles, and when doing them, now says the shape, color, or letter sound. She comes home singing songs, saying "thank you," and is always happy. When I leave her in the mornings, I never spend a second worrying about her. The teachers are amazing and are very open with communication, and patiently worked with us through my daughters hitting phase when I was at my wits end. The children are always entertained with themes, lunches, learning, and play. One of my concerns of sending my daughter to preschool was the potential for bringing home behavioral issues learned from other kids. In the 7 months she has been there, I have not once had her come home acting out, nor have I seen any kids at the school acting out of line. They are all respectful and taught how to resolve conflicts between them, which is a huge blessing. I could go on and on about all the great things! Go tour for yourself and see- you wont be disappointed!

Ill start out by saying Sunshine House is our home away from home. My 5yr old has been with the teachers for 2yrs. The teachers have guided him through the most important milestones. Potty training, hand to paper (he can write a full sentence now!), nursery rhymes galore, friendship and social development and even entry level sign language. Most important to me, he LOVES his teachers. He knows every one by name because they do not change. Making it most comfy for the kids (us parents, too). My 5yr olds emotional development was so delicately guided into a strength that I, without question, left my 2yr old in these teachers care the day after his 2nd birthday and he will continue into pre-k. Both of my boys run into Sunshine House. Its beyond routine (greeting the pretty plants on the porch and saying hi to the house birds), its HOME. These teachers are family to us. They respond via text or call with any concerns inside Sunshine House or even a personal concern outside to just offer a listening ear or offer advice. One more thing. My husband attended Sunshine House in 1988. -Theres years behind their trustworthy care :)

Its a very hard thing to leave one of the most precious things in our lives in the hands of someone else, you have to be able to trust the entity entirely when doing so. I have had the privilege and good fortune of finding such place with Sunshine house. I brought my child to Sunshine House in Oakley at the age of 4. I am now completely sorry I did not bring her sooner. She absolutely loves being there and adores the staff. The staff have been nothing short of amazing in caring for my four year old (now five year old) daughter. They have regular updates and evaluations in development and social interactions for my child. They provide text updates as well as written and social media updates on the goings-on of the day. Which I greatly appreciate. The staff is attentive and caring and are highly respected by the children. The facility is continuously cleaned throughout the day. I have not been disappointed at all with this facility. I highly recommend Sunshine House to anyone looking for a preschool/childcare facility.

I LOVE Sunshine House. My kids LOVE Sunshine House. I have 3 sons who have all gone to Sunshine House for years. My older 2 are too old now, but I still have a 5 yr. old there. The teachers are fabulous. They are all very friendly and treat my kids just like I treat them. I can leave there each day and not worry about the care my son receives. They serve healthy food, take naps, brush their teeth, have inside/outside play, have fun themed potlucks, tea partys and pizza nights.....and most importantly my kids have learned so much from being there! Its funny because when my 5 yr. old talks about the fun stuff he did at "school", my older 2 sons are always saying they wish they could still go there. By the way, their Christmas program is AWESOME! We look forward to it every year! I can honestly say that I have NEVER had a complaint about them- not once! Thats got to tell you something! If you are looking for a preschool, check out Sunshine House. You will not be sorry. Your kids will be safe and happy!
