Taking the whole day off to have an alternator put in, which should have been a quicker process, was elongated because the first alternator was not the correct one. Then the second one was not the correct part. Finally the third alternator put in was tested while the battery charger was still attached to my battery, giving a false reading. Later that night while running errands the car lost electrical power and would not start again. Having a friend jump the car I took it to said friends house and left it there so that I could go out of town early the next day to take of my sister who was having a baby out of state. I called the garage where the work was done and was told that upon my return I could bring the car back as their work is guaranteed. When bringing the car back on Wednesday the 13th of April, I had a friend give me another jump, started the car and proceeded to drive to the garage where the work was done. However, the belt on the alternator turned and shredded while on the freeway and I had to coast off the interstate with no momentum and no electrical. Luckily I happened to come to a stop in front of another independent auto shop, where the mechanic, feeling sorry for me took a look to give me a diagnosis on why this had happened. His diagnosis was that the shims on the pulley on top of the alternator had been put in the wrong way (on the outside as opposed to the inside where they belonged). Because of this, he said the belt had turned on its side and shredded to pieces because of it being slightly misaligned. I had an extra emergency belt in my trunk that I threw on after I was told this and managed to get the car to the Midway garage 2 hours before they closed. It took an entire day just to get the car back because of faulty workmanship. Then upon a further inspection that was done after the return of my vehicle, it was found that the alternator that was installed was the incorrect one (again) and that the correct part was going to cost upwards of 200 dollars that I do not have because of having to rent a car so as to get back and forth to school and work. I feel that this should have been taken care of and made right just because of the ordeal and repetition of faulty workmanship that led to this ultimate conclusion. Here I am, unable to afford to keep the rental, unable to afford to pay for the correct part, unable to even make it to my next pay date without begging and borrowing to feed my family. All because of faulty workmanship. And on top of it all, I dont even have a functioning car (not that I would have enough money to put gas in it after this fiasco).

My experience was great with Precision Tune Auto Care. On my way to work my 06 Chevy Cobalt started making strange noises and not accelerating, I turned around to get home in order not to get stuck on the freeway. Not knowing Jack about cars and having had bad experiences with repair shops before I was extremely unsure on which repair shop to choose. I read multiple comments on multiple websites about the shops in the area but I found a comon theme that I have found true in my own professional life is the fact that you cant make everyone happy no matter what. The negative comments seem to be one person pretty much lashing out because they cant handle a bad day and trust me, I was having a bad day but I ended up at the right place. I called earlier about there policies concerning appointments and other general questions and the employee who answered was very helpful and considerate of my situation. So I had my car towed there and I was professionally greeted by the person who I actually talked to on the phone. He gave a general idea of how the whole process would go before putting up any cash. I ended up paying a lot lower charge than what I thought and having been educated by the employee "Jay" of my cars problem I did some of my own research and found out I actually got a really good deal. They were upfront, professional and did not try to upsale me using strange car lingo. I would recommend Precision Tune Auto Repair to anyone, especially those who are like me and dont know a lot about cars in the first place.

Im new to California and drove my 2003 Nissan Altima here from the east coast. I bought my car new in 2003 and never had any service done except the basics. Well after the severe rain storm here, no comparisons to the snow storms Ive endured Betsy (my car) was shaking so bad I thought I was experiencing an earthquake. I found precision on midway and they took me right in. Treated me professionally and honestly.they did a diagnostic and it wasnt $342.00 as mentioned by a dissatisfied customer, but $125.00. Turns out Betsy was ailing fast. With over 200,000 plus miles mostly from long distance driving, the old gal needed coils, throttle cleaning, spark plugs, brake pads, down to 20% and some TLC . Needless to say working a part time job, they worked with me lowering prices by calling around for lesser priced parts and almost eliminating the labor price, until i found a price that worked for me. Derek was understanding and didnt try to up sell or take advantage of me being a woman and limited auto repair knowledge. I must state that prices here are considerably higher than where Im from for parts. I compared parts from auto zone back east to California. Wow big difference and the tax here is ouch! Im great full for Dereks honesty and now Betsy and I have weathered another storm.

I went to Precision Tune on Midway for a basic warranty service job. I had an engine noise that caused a concern, so I brought it in. I gave the warranty service card, they copied it and put it with my paperwork. I told them I was flying out of San Diego that day and would be returning in four days but please call if you have a problem. They said, "no problem." I came back from my business trip to find out they did nothing with my car nor the warranty service. The front desk said, "we got real busy." I could not understand, but I said okay. They said we will expedite your car and call the warranty today. Long story short...they estimated over $3000 in repairs, which had nothing to do with the engine...the warranty authorized for 2/3rd of the work, but I paid the rest out of pocket. They even tried saying my A/C system needed replaced, which I denied and later found out it was only some leaves blocking the airflow. Totally backwards from what they said! I am usually not this critical, but it was bad!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO PRECISION TUNE FOR A SMOG TEST. THEY WILL CARGE YOU FOR THE TEST, THEN TELL YOU SOMETHING IS MISSING OR BROKEN. THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED AN AIR CLEANER HOUSING AND A CHECK VALVE. THE VEHICLES ACTUAL EMMISSIONS WERE WITHIN LIMITS, BUT THEY SAID I HAD TO HAVE THESE PARTS BEFORE THEY COULD PASS IT. SO I REPLACED THE PARTS EXACTLY AS THEY SAID, BROUGHT IT BACK, AND THEN THEY SAID THEY COULDNT PASS IT BECAUSE THE AIR PUMP WAS MISSING. AND THEY CHARGED ME FOR ANOTHER SMOG CHECK AGAIN. THEY GOT $300 FROM ME AND NO SMOG CERT. THESE GUYS ARE FRAUD RIPOFF ARTISTS. SO IF I PUT ON AN AIR PUMP, WHAT WILL BE MISSING NEXT? A WIDGET VALVE? OR SOME NEW IMAGINARY PART THEY HAVENT THOUGHT A NAME FOR YET? THESE GUYS ARE THIEVES, PLAIN AND SIMPLE. THE B.A.R. HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. IN THE MEANTIME, DO NOT GO THERE FOR ANYTHING!
