Best Repair Shop in San Diego Point Loma area. After I took my 1999 Lexus to the dealer for a quote I was about to get rid of the thing. I called Speedy Auto Repair because they often did small jobs for me in the past. After telling them that I was discouraged after getting a dealer quote, they insisted that I bring it in. I did not tell them Lexuss price or diagnosis, however, it took them about 10 minutes to check it out and they confirmed the same repairs suggested by Lexus and made the dealers price sound like a joke!! There is no way I would go to a dealer after this experience. Another thing I enjoyed about this experience was they were really honest. Although they are really nice people they will not do anything you think is necessary for your car. If there is not a legitimate problem with your vehicle they will tell you. If the repair is not necessary, they will tell you. Once they thoroughly inform you on the repairs needed, the decision is yours. No pressure. What makes this repair shop unique is they are not about money. You can tell that helping people is their passion. They remind me of our country back in the day when businesses were not just out to take your money and do as less work as possible. This is a family ran business and they treat their customers like family!!! As a military member I recommend this shop to all my Marines and anyone who feels as though car repairs are no win situations that leave you at the mercy of the mechanic and your bank account empty. Only complaint I have is that they dont take tips!! Lol! Seriously... Good people.

I have an older car that needed Star Certification. Thats pretty scary because you are at the mercy of the Smog Station. Its very easy for them to fail the smog test without an issue, you can fail alone for not passing a visual test. This is how many disreputable smog businesses make easy money - because you just want to get it over with, youll pay whatever they ask to fix whatever is causing the car to fail smog testing. Not Speedy Auto & Smog. No tricks, theyre completely honest and straightforward. If you have any worries in advance, call them and theyll help you know what you need to do to have the car pass. They dont play games. Its family owned, the lowest price I found anywhere and the staff couldnt be more pleasant. For a process that usually is a headache, they take all the worry away. On top of all that, they work fast. I brought a newspaper with me to pass the time, before I finished the first story, they were done. Im sending all my friends and will return whenever I need a smog certification.

The guys at Speedy Auto Repair & Smog have now worked on my VW Jetta a total of 3 times. Every time I bring it in, they are done the same day, and they save me a lot of money. Danny always gets me great deals on parts, and as Ive said before, they are quick about it. The customer service is great, the mechanics always take me in to take a look at what they are talking about doing, they are prompt and all of them are friendly. I was VERY WARY of this shop at first. It is difficult to find an honest shop that is quick and painless. Even for my most recent work (a catalytic converter), I shopped around before coming back to them to get it done. Car maintenance is expensive no matter how you look at it, but Ive come to trust these guys to not oversell me, and get the work done properly and efficiently. Id recommend this shop to friends and family, for sure.

This is the best shop I have ever been into. I took my car in for some alignment problem and they were able to tell me why the alignment was off and other shops couldn’t get it right. Highly recommended plus they are open 7 days/week. After several months I went back to them, My vehicle failed smog. They repaired it for me and smogged at the same time. ((How do you value an honest mechanic in San Diego?? Priceless)). Since then Ive recommended Speedy to all of my friends without reservation. There have been plenty of times when weve sought advice from them, and they will always look for the safest, and the most cost effective way to fix a problem. Also they just recently started a DMV service in which they gave me the stickers on the spot. All that at the same shop. Its a one stop shop.

The $30 lure is for small,newer cars only. I took my 2000 Astro and they estimated $60 to smog it "because its more difficult." They finally gave me an apparent break charging only $49.00, but once the car was all hooked up for testing the old man showed me the worn gas cap and warned me that it might not pass unless replacing it with a new one. It felt miserable on my part to keep haggling for 10 more or less bucks so I authorized the service. Ended paying $66.00, the most expensive smog check ever paid for this car. And they didnt even send the info electronically. I learned the registration was incomplete 3 weeks later and had to rush and submit the certificate in person to avoid penalties. Avoid this place; they are really hungry for business and will weasel their way to get it.

07/22/2015 Saad/Sam/Danny are absolutely wonderful!!! They handled my SUV problem quickly / honestly / and went an extra mile to make sure and diagnose the problem properly and check for the cause of my air conditioning failing x2 after paying for it each time at another repair shop, for it to only break down again causing my SUV to become immobile at all. Their prices are excellent, they explained everything they did and showed my brother and myself the parts needed and installed them, so I can drive safely on the road. Due too health issues my Air Conditioning is a necessity, also I did not realize under the hood of my GMC Envoy SUV, that one belt effects the entire function of my SUV. As a women I recommend Speedy Auto Repair & Smog check to anyone 100%!!!!!

I had been going previously to a smog place back home for years and never had problums. They do the check and say I failed due to a visual inspection but not the test. So, instead of telling me before they run the entire test they failed and charge me $50. I ask if I get the repair done at home do I get a free smog, they said no full price. They did say if I get the repair through them than I can have the free smog. The repair was a vacuum hose and they priced me at $160!!! I knew how much the part was so I left. The part was $15. We replaced it at home and passdd. These guys were rude, unfriendly and RIPING PEOPLE OFF, if they want to stay in buissness I suggest all with great your customers a free smog if they dont pass like most places do. DONT GO HERE!!

So the DMV required a STAR certified smog station and after a scam experience at Clairemont Auto Care I ended up at Speedy on a Saturday afternoon. Boy they ARE fast! Not only that they understood that a lit up check-vehicle-light is not a check-engine-light and has nothing to do with smog. When I asked them to top off some freon in my A/C they did that for free! I was out of there in 15 minutes. This is a family business, father and son were extremely nice and fun to talk to. The father let me know that I should go and have my transmission flushed "by my house mechanic" and presented the evidence as well. Also, he showed me the spot where my freon sneaks out of the A/C. Thats how business should be conducted. See you next time!
