It all started about 2 years ago when my piece of crap car broke down on me... I took it to a AAA Auto Care Center since I didnt know where else to go... After charging me $102 for a diagnostics check (and that was WITH the AAA discount) they told me that a billion things were wrong with my car and that a needed a new engine!!! Total Price: over $5,000. As a broke college student, I dont usually tend to crap out money. I knew I was being ripped off because no one would give me a direct answer to my question: What caused my car to break down??? Simple, no??? A friend recommended his mechanic to me, San Jose Auto Repair. After charging me only $49 for a diagnostics check, they told me that the head gasket blew and need it replaced. I waited for them to bring out a list of things like the other place... "Thats it???" I asked after they said nothing else. "Well, your car is also a little low on oil, but well be more than happy to put more in".

My most recent experience came with a Honda Civic. I had had some overheating problems and had given it over to pep boys (they ended up having the car for over three weeks on and off, never really fixed the problem and charged me $1500 for the privilidge) Robert took a look at the car, understood what my symptoms meant in terms of repair and were able to fix everything in a day. Ive literally taken the car in the day before thanksgiving and had same day turnaround. They are also good about telling you if you need something fixed but whether its a priority. They wont change something or fix something unless it needs replacing and will give you a realistic estimate on when you should come back.

I was charged full price for a faulty diagnosis and "repair" at this place. Immediately after paying, discovered that the problem was not fixed. Returned to the shop right away, and they determined they could not diagnose or fix the problem. The owner refused a partial refund and sent me off with the broken car. They did not stand behind their work and are not interested in making it right.They had no problem taking my money, but when it came to fixing the car, they were either clueless and guessing, or did not have time or knowledge to properly diagnose.I will chalk this up to a learning experience, and next time do research the mechanic!

San Jose Auto Repair is the best! The guys there fixed, and most recently rebuilt, our Suburu, 4 times over this past year. At the end of March, I was in an accident that totaled the front of the car. It was a "tear down". They rebuilt it in three weeks. The car is beautiful and the brakes feel better than before. Anthony and the other guys at San Jose Auto Repair are friendly, responsive, helpful. and direct. They tell you like it is about your car, which as a former East Coaster, I really value. Take your car to San Jose Auto Repair -your experience will be gold lining to your car woes.

Hi all. I suggest you read over the yelp reviews also before you take your car to these guys. Btw ask and look for A.S.E. certification. I doubt any of them have it. But they have just a patch saying certified lol. Aside from that beware of this place. Shady dealings and good luck getting a hold of them on phone. Also be prepared for them to lie about when you get your car back to extreme.

Brought my car here on a Tuesday and they checked it out for me. They were SUPER helpful. Tam texted me and my mom pictures of what was wrong with my car and described in detail what would need to be done and what the cost would be which was super helpful and nice. They were able to order the new parts and have my car done by the next day. Would definitely recommend brining your car here.

Went to a whole bunch of shops before coming here they all gave me different answers,Robert at San Jose Auto Repair helped me right away and fixed the issue asap, i will be a returning customer

I have given them five stars as did for me a great job. Actually, when they helped me, I was then in such a situation if I could not get my car repaired I would miss my favorite projects contract. They have repaired my car in a moment to run it though long time.

I just went to get my oil changed here and free of charged they did a vehicle inspection for me and told me my belts on my 98 camry was cracked and I should replace them before they snap. They saved me a bunch of money from future repairs.

Came here on a Saturday at 1pm. The asian guy said he couldnt help me i would have to go back on Monday and make an appointment. Online it says that they are open weekends... off to another shop...at least they were nice
