Having just experienced the lost of our mother, we appreciated the seeming expertise and efficiency of the staff, Cindy Naras (funeral director) and Kenny Pun (family service counselor). However, in the days following our initial planning meeting the following occurred: * After expressing our concern that the grave site not be opened for everyone to see on the funeral day when there was to be prayers and blessings said at the site, it WAS exposed showing the uncovered concrete vaults and the dirt walls. This was emotionally distressing to the family and unnecessary for the children age 3-8 to see! * Within 20 ft. of the open grave site were two grounds keepers waiting, obviously to do the task of putting the urns in the ground - another most disturbing image. * The pink flower arrangement which we ordered with the on site florist was lavender purple. * The photo that was to be used to create the little prayer cards to distribute was lost. It was a very special photo that we had specially wanted showing both our mom and dad. * The blue fabric bag that covered moms urn had the name "Matthew" embroidered on it. Moms name was Irma! + The buffet lunch that was catered at the recommendation of the funeral home was pathetic, especially considering the amount of money that it cost. * Off to the right of the main entrance door of Skylawn was some type of burner incinerator type device. Obviously, it was visually disturbing and out of place. * On the lower level, just outside the luncheon room and under the staircase, were two wheel barrels that were covered with dirt and cement remnants. This was another very distasteful site. Although we were initially treated with concern and cordiality, the experiences that followed were most insensitive and heart wrenching. We realize the delicate nature of this business in dealing with people who are in emotional turmoil. For that reason, we share our experiences in hopes that no one else will endure such.

This is a cemetery but you can go there as long as youre not making too much noise and have kids just running around this is a beautiful place I have no problem being the cemetery Im not superstitious this is some of the most incredible artwork from the Chinese community that Ive ever seen and the view is just incredible I go up your every once in a while and have lunch believe it or not and enjoy the view and walk around and check out the headstones this has a great Veterans Memorial and it has an honest to God pet cemetery this is a huge place and as long as youre keeping it down no one will bother you because they think youre there visiting someone you know! well I dont know anybody up there but I go and look at the pictures on some of the headstones and I give them tribute. you can just drive through if you want but it would be silly not to enjoy the view its a million-dollar view

Tip: if local, geotag a picture of the view from your loved ones location at the funeral so you can reference the map for future visits. I forgot to do this, so when we got lost trying to visit a year later, we called the office and the family service counselor came out in his car and had us follow him. He gave us a map with the marked spot for future reference and shook our hands to tell us it is an honor to serve our family. I thought that was wonderful service. On a side note, you might be able to catch deer visit and eat the fresh flowers near closing time. I think it is a nice way to not waste flowers, but if that bothers you, go to the website for a guide on the flowers for a list of "deer resistant" flowers.

I visited today 1 Aug 2009, to see my Mother and Father which are side by side; while searching for the resting place I had a wonderful experience in reading of other people that passed and were 3, 4 5, 10 younger, and some with photos of them self. I can only wonder what took their life. Some born in 1800s, also interesting to see a few lived only a day or so. But the resting place in worming to me as I search for my two loved ones. Yours truly, Mr. A. T., Jr.

How does one review a cemetery. Skylawn has one hell of a view. Though, the people here arent very lively. Working here is considered a dead end job. There isnt much upward movement. Everyone seems to be pushing up daisies for a place to fit in.
