I was a regular there before thecurrent owners tookover because its right down the street very convenient. After them taking over a month with no courtesy calls to keep me inform. It took so long because for 1 they werent organisedand 2,they had to find the past my car needed so it could be smoged. Theres a lot more to it than just this. But to sum it up it cost nearly 400 to have it eventually smoged. Roughly about 300 of that was just for them to do research on the computer to find the 3 dollar part. Then the rest to finally install it then smog it. This is not my only bad experience with them but it was one of the more irritating experience with them and my last one. I know some people have had great experience with them and they are the fortunate few. Basically they way over charge, and if youre not bringing in sobe fancy car they know theyll be making lots of money from you, I think they dont frankly care. Id happily drive across town to get work done on my car rather then drop it off at this place right down the street from my house. My last comment is that, it dont write comments. This place bothered me enough to do so and I hope I can save the next poor person the grief and expense I went through. I recommend wheel works down town for any car service, they are on point.

TL;DR : They charged me $110 for 5 minutes worth of diagnostic............... I stopped into Ainsworth when my check engine light came on and my car (2001 ford focus) suddenly started wobbling and crawling in front of safeway. I had them read my code which was cylinder #4 misfire. I went home and replaced spark plugs and cables but still had the issue. I went back and asked them to check the coil pack but i was fearing a much more troublesome issue. They call me back several hours later and say my coil pack is bad... this was great news because its a cheap and easy fix compared to anything else it could have been. He wanted to charge me $400 to replace the $70 part. I went in to pick up my car and he charged me $110 for diagnostic. The coil pack is located in a easily accessible location and testing it only requires unplugging a spark plug cable and touching the leads with a multimeter. I brought the car home and replaced the coil pack myself with a screwdriver set and 20 minutes of my time. I will never return to ainsworth for the amount they charge for diagnostic is absurd.

$52 for a smog check, got me in the same day, just took 20 min. Not much more to want from a smog place.
