My husband and I woke up Xmas Eve to a wonderful gift from our house: a broken water heater with NO hot water. Since we were hosting our family Xmas dinner, this was quite the curve ball in our plans. After basic troubleshooting, we realized the 28-year old water heater had finally croaked. We called several plumbers only to find voicemails. Just when we were getting disheartened and brainstorming back-up plans, Andy called back. Yes! He came for the house call and evaluated our situation. He agreed with our assessment, and that we needed a new water heater. He wasnt planning on working today, but seeing our dead water heater, he decided to come and help us. Seriously, how many plumbers would do that on Xmas Eve?!? Thank you, Andy!!! We decided, to respect his time since he was suddenly working on Xmas Eve, he would take a couple other house calls while my husband and I went to buy the water heater. When he returned, he spent 4 hours removing our dead water heater and installing our new heater. Andy is incredibly detail oriented. He pointed out several ways in which our old water heater (installed several owners ago!) was not up to code, from non-functional earthquake straps to unsoldered copper pipes! (Yikes!) The new copper pipes he soldered was routed like a pro (Im an engineer, and it was exactly how I would have wanted it! Keep in mind, I did NOT direct/ask for the routing, he just did it like a boss!). There was a minor mishap, which is why its a 4-star rating instead of 5-star, but I wont go into it because his overall work quality is spot on. Plus, were all human, so we all make mistakes. I tried to offer him food/drink along the way to express my gratitude for his work, but all he would take was one Coke Zero and a hot coffee. Overall, my husband and I very much enjoyed working with Andy. He was professional, kind, considerate, and did an amazing job ALL ON XMAS EVE! Thank you, Andy!!!

I hire Andrew on a Saturday to fix a totally blocked sewer pipe. He arrived right on time at 3:00 and started for 1 hour to find and few the blockage on his video camera. Line was too ... full of ... *$#% to see anything. He used an electronic device (feeding off the cameras signal) to find the blockage... which was about the location I expected. He said that old pipes in Sunnyvale use this Tar/Paper material (my house was build in 1954) or clay pipes. After 60 years, they are cracked and my very thirsty fruit tree had found a nice source of water!!! (the Drought has made my garden quite parched). The then focused on the clock and after 45 minutes total.. the pipes were clear and he was gone. I found him honest, very friendly and spoke with an English (UK) accent. I Give him 5 stars for once he got the toilet off, the pipes were clear in 10 minutes. I might use him to lay new pipes and install a dual Sewer Clean Out next weekend once I check his references. I will post another update if I select him to install the house to City pipes... has to be done because..... I had the same issue 4 months earlier and I called another Sunnyvale Plumber. He showed up 90 minutes late, spoke very little English. He had a very hard time trying to fix my blockage and nearly gave up. Cost was a bit higher than Andrews final price. The other plumber told me "Tree... Roots.... BAD PIPES".... and I knew Judgment Day would arrive sooner than later. I would give this guy 4 stars and did not call him for I do like to talk and understand a person that will cost me a few thousand dollars to fix. Andrew seams very honest and easy to work with. 5 stars for he appears to know his stuff and was not trying to push anything too expensive.

We were planning a complete rehaul of the landscaping in our front yard, and realized we should get our sewer main (which runs through the yard) replaced at the same time - wed had backup issues due to the root systems from a couple of large trees in the yard. Called around and had a number of plumbing/sewer contractors come out to give estimates. These ran the gamut from over-the-phone blind quotes to guys who came and ran a camera through the cleanouts to see what the situation was. Andrew from Comet was one who did the latter, and was very thorough in showing us where the problems were, and what he proposed to do to fix everything. Other companies suggested "trenchless" repair. Andrew felt that in light of the work we planned to do anyway on the landscaping (ie we werent worried about preserving the landscaping around the line), it would be better to trench out the line. Throughout the job, Andrew was responsive (always answered the phone), prompt, courteous, hardworking, and honest. He also demonstrated great professionalism in working with our landscaping contractor, and was accomodating with respect to timing as well as work division (who was responsible for what). He made the whole process as painless as possible, and took care of permits through the city for us. Cost-wise he was very competitive - one of the best out of the group that gave us quotes. Highly recommend for jobs both large and small. We will certainly be calling again for any future plumbing needs!

My husband called Andrew (Comet) to see where the leak coming from under our 40 gallon water heater. Andrew came on time the next day as he said, and found that the tank is the cause for the leak. When he told us how much it will cost I thought it was above what I expected, but he explained why and we gave him the go ahead. He promised to be there at 9:00 am the next day. At 9:00 am he was there, got us a beautiful heater, installed a water shut off (our old heater didnt have one). When he was done I went and checked and I was amazed! What a perfect job he did!!! Andrew cleaned up even the dust in the heaters closet, washed the dirty tray beneath the heater, and him and his assistant gathered all the debris in a huge bag. My drive way was as sparkling clean after all the work he did. I appreciated the efficiency, the competence and professionalism in handling the work and above all his diligence and coutesy. He came back after an hour to check on the hot water. Thank you Andrew for a job well done! No doubt that you are a keeper whenever I need a plumber; youre my #1 choice.

Weve hired Andy at Comet for two jobs. The first one was an emergency job on a Saturday afternoon. The first thing I liked is he didnt charge more for weekends. He came at 4pm and worked through dinner up until 10pm so that we could get our water back! This is the kind of guy he is. He really cares about the customer and has dedication to his job. The next job was a major repipe. I knew I liked Andy, but I did get a couple of other quotes to make sure the price was fair (for that big of a job you have to make sure, right?). His price was good so we went ahead. Again he did quality work. He even fixed and did some things extra: installed two new faucets, a new utility sink, and rebuilt some of the p-traps. It is always great when you can find someone you can trust to work on your house like Andy.
