I recently contracted Walsh moving and storage for both a local move (from my apartment to storage) and for a long distance move (from my storage unit across the country). Moving from a small apartment seemed to make me a low priority for many companies that I contacted. I had a couple of quotes, and Walsh Moving did not quote me the lowest price. I hired them to handle my local move because they felt like a small, local business and every time I called I spoke directly to Tom. The guys did a great job, and when they finished the bill was less than the quote! When it came time for my long distance move (coast to coast), I called Tom again. There was a weight discrepancy between Walshs estimate and the other guys, so Tom sent out another person to double check. His delivery day estimates were based on a few days as opposed to a few weeks, and when I asked about the usual 10% price increase allowed to movers based on weight Tom explained that his estimate price was for the whole job--no more, no less. So the weight estimate and the price estimate from Walsh was a little higher, but it felt fair whereas the other guys prices felt a bit too good to be true and I didnt want to get stuck with a surprise bill at the end. So I chose Walsh Moving. Of course, Tom was booking my little apartment move with another big shipment. A couple days after my stuff was picked up and a few days before it was supposed to be dropped off, Tom informed me that my delivery was going to be postponed. Apparently, the other shipment had canceled at the last minute. I was so upset because I had pinned so many other hopes and plans to this delivery date! But Tom got to work piecing another shipment together. He took a bit off the price and got my stuff to me within 2 weeks. I did feel that this change was out of his control and he did the best he could to make it up to me. Overall, I felt this company was very fair and that Tom was true to his word. There are so many moving horror stories, but every person from Walsh that helped me or put their hands on my stuff was professional and courteous. All my stuff was delivered with no problem; nothing was missing. I am only about 85% unpacked, but so far everything made the two moves in good condition. I would definitely recommend Walsh Moving and Storage. In fact, I would use them again myself. Call them!

Two stars is generous but it is mainly for Chris and how he handled the initial call and the crews on both ends that worked very hard- So many scheduling snafus and changes in pricing original change was $1000 after I had the truck weighed it was only $250 or so higher. They may be a solid local mover but I dont think they are a cross country firm. The owner was very condescending and felt compelled to tell me how moving is an inexact science with a lot of moving parts and how I had unreasonable expectations on timing. After 4 different price changes and taking a month to complete the move we had damaged items and when I called attention to them the response was "sorry your move did not go perfectly" two destroyed glass tables and several items that were never delivered is was beneath perfect.. amazing and I have the emails in case anyone want to actually read them. I filed a claim for the damaged and lost items for significantly less than replacement value on July 23rd. A month later no action on the claim. When I sent inquiries I got an email back explaining how busy they were and how the claim would be reviewed over the weekend. A week later nothing... I filed a claim via American Express and surprisingly they damage claim was eventually paid. This was our 4th major move of over 1000 miles and by far the worst. Everything that happens badly in a move happened during ours. Bad scheduling, poor communication during the move, price increases, damaged and lost items and finally a lack of accountability for the damage. They have work to do if this is there best. The experience caused us a ton of undue duress .. completely disappointed with all but the actual work crews,

We were extremely frustrated with the lack of communication that has been demonstrated by Walsh Moving and Storage. We felt that at our move was not handled with the priority it deserves, nor it was handled in a professional manner. For example: 1. Pick up date was arranged for the last day before flying out of AL 2. Walsh Truck arrived to the pickup location with 2 assistance only. 3. Walsh Truck had no availability of storage space for our items. 4. It took 15 hours for loading 12,000 lb of items. 5. Failing to do inventory list of items and not given us the chance to do a final walkthrough after the move. 6. Moving our 2nd shipment items more than once in which it has increased the chance for breakage, loss, and damages: 1) Moved to the garage area 2) Moved to a rental truck 3) Moved to a Storage Facility in Gadsden AL 4) To be moved to a truck again 7. Promising a final delivery date by July 29 and failing to deliver on that day, Items were delivered on August 28, 2010. 8. Failing to update or communicate with us in regards to any changes in the contract.

Our driver, Richard, was the consummate professional. He arrived when he said he would. He coordinated with two loading experts and with us during the pick-up. Two additional loading experts arrived separately and we were fully packed before 4 pm. It was a very hot Phoenix day but everyone remained upbeat due to Richards leadership skills. He staged boxes by sizes and was involved in on board packing himself. Richard kept me informed of his schedule and route across country and arrived in Wilmington on the morning we agreed upon. He kept in contact with us during his travels and, when it looked like there may be a problem with assistants to unload, he obviously got a hold of you and local folks to arrange three unloading experts from Jacksonville. Again the unloading process went very smoothly. Furniture that had been disassembled to make loading easier, was reassembled. Everything arrive from the trip unscathed, and I am finally finding my new garage I would happily recommend Walsh Moving Storage and the Oasis broker who arranged to use Walsh. A pleasant bunch of folks and a pleasant experience for what we hope is our last move. Thanks

My husband and I have moved many times, domestically and internationally and no company has touched yours in terms of service, punctuality or cost. Our sincerest thanks to you and your staff for the most amazing service ever possible in our move from California to Connecticut. Our furniture etc. was picked up on 3/11/2010 and delivered 3/18/2010 - yes, during the worst storms the East Coast had endured in 50 years, the driver Richard still made it!! Thankfully the day the truck arrived it was a beautiful day and, may I add, the men arrived bright and early (as they did for pick-up) and worked right through...they didnt stop until finished. On top of which, NOTHING was damaged - my plants even arrived safely!!! WALSH IS THE BEST - lovely, lovely people with the most wonderful attitude - giving their clients the best service. I would never use anyone else for a move. Thank you again Tom, you are so patient and kind.
