Accolade is large, has a good amount of aerobic and weightlifting equipment thats generally in good shape, and is clean. We had been members for several years. They have a small exercise room; however, shortly after it opened (a few years ago), we used it for a bit of dance practice, and were chastised a couple times for that. Shortly after that, signs appeared indicating that the room was only to be used by approved folks (i.e. people doing group classes), even when empty. Never heard of a room like that being off-limits at a gym. I recently received a new credit card, same # but new expiration date. The subsequent charge to my credit card by Accolade was declined; unfortunately I happened to not go to the gym that week. On my next visit, I was asked for my credit card. I gave it to the teenager staffing the desk; she said, "Oh, and there will be a $5 late fee." I asked for details; she explained that there was a four day grace period. It was, unfortunately for me, day 5. I said "no one notified me," to which she said, "we dont do that." I said, "thats BS;" and at that point, some taller guy towered over me and started berating me in an intimidating fashion. "Shes just doing her job! We have 2500+ members... how are we supposed to notify everyone?" At that point I didnt feel like arguing. Uh... a quick form email that gets automatically sent out? (It is 2015, after all.) Not to mention that perhaps a few couple dozen people might have expired cards in any given month--not 2500. Not to mention that most of the time I see a couple teenagers sitting at the desk doing pretty much nothing. My wife went the next evening; she thought I was overreacting (and no, its not the $5, its the principle of how you treat customers). However, she talked to the manager on duty, who went on and on about how theyre a small gym (they are not--2500+ members is a lot over the national average) and how they have a lot of deadbeats who dont come for months and dont pay. Aha: So, basically their philosophy is that because a number of customers are deadbeats, thats how theyre going to treat anybody whose credit card expires and doesnt show up in time. My wife cancelled her membership on the spot. Ive also moved on.

I was excited to try out this class after speaking with her (that is, when she responded to the 1 of 3 phone calls I made to her cell phone number). Was supposed to take part in the SCHEDULED Monday morning class at 11:30 based on what she said and what Travis mentioned to me on the phone. i called before I came down to make sure the class was still on--Travis checked while I was on the phone, told me she was with a client, but yes, the class was from 11:30-12:30 so I headed down. I entered the building, and was shown by Travis where the room was-this was at around 11:20 and I could see Karyn in the corner with her client. I rambled around the room, waiting for 11:30--wellll, with a room surrounded by windows, it was NOT hard to see that I was in the room waiting for the instructor. When it got to be 11:40 with no appearance from any other customers, or even the INSTRUCTOR, I headed out the front door, and as I was leaving, I saw Karyn standing in the middle of the room, talking with someone, and basically see me leaving the room where class was supposed to be--and she did NOT bother to come and talk with me--I walked out the front door, past Travis, who looked up and I threw my hands in the air as if to say, WTF????? As of the writing of this letter, there STILL has been NO response to my cell phone calls--Tim and Travis were great with their customer relation skills--Karyn on the other hand left a little to be desired.............Just FYi

In all fairness, at every gym there is an in-crowd, and rarely do I fit the bill. But I dont go there to make friends, I go there to get fit. Accolade had everything you need to get that done. It is always, always, always clean. Never smells like old B-O like most gyms. If I want to add some new type of workout to my routine, I know that I can always find the exact machine there to do it. Its a busy place, but thats expected, as it is the best gym in town. Ive been there for a year, my body has changed. Yeah, I work at it... but if I did not have a place to go with everything that I need I would not have gotten this far. And super huge props for the trainers (who are there, but technically not affiliated with Accolade). Having a specialist around just in case you need some one on one training is key when youve hit a slump. Doug, the trainer that I worked with, is a knowledgeable, encouraging guy. As busy as he is Im sure others feel the same. Overall, people who need a babysitter during the workout will not find that service available, and that may send some away to lesser gyms. But my experience has been nothing but awesome at Accolade. Go there!

After 24 years with the YMCA, an office relocation meant shopping for a new gym. A Google search revealed that Accolade Fitness was close by. But before making the trip, like you, I decided to read the reviews. After finishing them, I was a little leery due to some of the negative reports. But, knowing there is no shortage of whiners and cry-babies with an axe to grind, I decided to form my own opinions and pay them a visit. And boy, Im glad I did. Walking in the door I met Duane, the owner, who was one of the friendliest guys youll ever meet. And Ashley behind the counter was also very nice. And frankly, I dont know what the negative reviewers were talking about. The facilities were very spacious, well-equipped and clean – lots of machines, lots of TV’s and everything I needed in a gym. I signed up immediately, had my first work-out today and had a very pleasant experience. Oh, and the big bonus was that their memberships are very reasonable and they don’t rope you into a long-term contract.

Ive been to several gyms but this one wins by far. Amazing customer service. The staff does frequent walk throughs to ensure there isnt any trash or to organize weights. They welcome you and say bye. Always on time to open. Listen to concerns and take action. I can go on. The layout is perfect. You have 3 yes 3 areas for weights. 2 areas for cardio. Cant do treadmills? Me neither. A trail to Garden of The Gods is right around the corner (you can walk there). Its PERFECT. Dont want lunk alarms? Me neither. Squat racks, smith machines, incline benches, flat benches, 130 lb dumbells, <5lb dumb bells, cables, Free Motions, batteling ropes, TRX, kettle bells, a punching bag... again I can go on. You can go lift as light or heavy as you want with the younger and older and everyone is friendly about it. Studios, classes, tanning, personal training, clean showers with soap, clean restrooms, lots of lockers, plenty of parking, BEAUTIFUL VIEW! Best part is its priced incredibly right.

Duane, the owner is great. All of the staff, including new employees, are very friendly. After being a member at several different gyms over the years, this one is by far the best. There are NO issues with canceling memberships if need be. My girlfriend signed up with the intention of doing yoga classes. Unfortunately, the classes werent quite her speed and she doesnt lift weights. One day we walked in, she signed a paper to cancel, and she was able to come to the gym for the remaining month that she had paid for even though she had cancelled. The staff always greets me and it has great climate control which is well overlooked. You dont know how poor a gym really is until you go to one when youre sweating hard in between your workouts. The locker room is nice and clean and there are plenty of lockers with showers, clean toilets, and a sauna. You cant ask any better for a privately owned gym with a reasonable membership fee where you can bring a guest for free unlimited times.
