I am sad to say that this location has completely gone down hill. We have been members for 3 years and after taking a 3 month break from surgery, I returned to the Y to find that staff had changed and they are completely unprofessional. I had come to the new staff multiple times in the last week about small chi.dren running all around the track without wristbands or parent supervision, parents coming upstairs to the to watch there children play sports in the gym below blocking the track, same parents letting there toddlers use the track as a playground. This is something that has been going since I returned 2 weeks ago and the staff shows little concern about the issue. The first time I came to the desk there was a girl talking to another staff member and didnt acknowledge me until I had to interrupt there conversation after standing there staring at them until I became frustrated. She said she would take care of it and never saw any staff member come upstairs to even check in the 1 hour and 20 min I was up there. I ended up stopping several times during my run to tell the kids to move and tell the parents to watch there children. The second time was this morning. Same exact situation except this time there was several people at the front desk and when I expressed my concern they once again showed little concern. One staff member did come upstairs to talk to the kids but by the time they arrived, other people running the track had already asked people to move or leave. Not at anytime did any of the "staff" apologize or show any type of concern for what keeps going on upstairs on the track. They used to come every hour to walk and check the track to make sure everything is okay but it doesnt seem like they do that anymore. I get it, its busy on the weekends, its busy on Monday mornings, but why am I paying you when I have to babysit other peoples children bc they cant take care of there own kids, why do I have to tell people to move that looking down at the gym blocking the track, why is it that asking your. Staff members to do there job like pulling teeth? Your new staff is rude. Plain and simple. I plan on speaking to whomever runs this location and then cancel my membership. It is sad that the YMCA has become this way. So turned off by this place.

I belong to the Briargate Y, but I usually go out of my way to use one of the Denver locations (where I work). The staff at the Denver locations are more accommodating, the equipment is better maintained (the Briargate Y often has equipment and facilities that are out of order, sometimes for weeks at a time), the facilities are cleaner, and they are less crowded to boot. Far better management up North. If youre in the area, I highly suggest the Schlessman location on Yale and Colorado. Top notch location. Edit: After my last 2-Star review, a manager called me to "resolve" the issues I mentioned. She left me a voicemail asking for a good time to reach me, so I called back and got her voicemail. I gave her a 2-hour window the following day that she could reach me. She never called. I called her back the next day and left a similar voicemail, and she never called me back. Im guessing that she has some kind of requirement to call out on bad reviews, but not to actually resolve them. Today, I finally decided to go ahead and cancel my membership because this has been a poor experience since we started at this gym. The woman at the front counter was very unsympathetic, asking no questions, she just slid the cancellation form to me. Then, because today is the 21st, she told me that they would not prorate/reimburse me. So I have to pay for 22 days of a month that I am not going to use. Just another example of the poor customer service that you can expect to receive here. We were members for years and just kept putting up with all of the broken equipment, non-functioning hot water heaters (pools, hot tubs, showers, etc.) because the location was convenient. I have been to many other YMCAs and have really enjoyed the experience, but this one is just very poorly managed. I would highly suggest looking at other Briargate area gyms before looking at this one.

Im a racquetball player, so thats the extent of my familiarity with the facilities, but they seem nice. Until their courts were closed due to lack of use (and probably the wavy, water-damaged floor), I primarily frequented the Garden Ranch YMCA. I have to say Im more pleased with the Briargate courts quality. However, in the dozen or so times Ive called the Briargate Y to book a court, I think Ive only gotten through about 3 times? A friend of mine had a similar experience, where he called several times, finally got through, and then got put on hold for about 6 minutes before he hung up. This was certainly never a problem at the Garden Ranch YMCA, who always promptly answered their front-desk phones. Please, please, Briargate. Be better at answering your front desk phone. (or at the very least, add an online court reservation) Thanks

We recently moved to the area, and were interested in possible membership in the Y. We took two grandsons to Y football on the first day of practice and listened to a Y staff person talk to parents about the values behind the program. It sounded good. However, one of our grandsons got a bully for a coach who was unkind to the small boys, rude to parents, and to the refs at games. He was a very poor influence and not at all representative of "Y values". Multiple complaints to various Y directors made no difference at all. Parents were told he would apologize but he did not. We found ourselves going to games in case our grandson needed protection. Clearly the Y staff would not do that. We were very disappointed in this program, and will look elsewhere for events for family.

I am not a member of the YMCA but booked a birthday party here. He party isnt even until tomorrow and it has been a total disaster working with this facility. Apparently there is one birthday coordinator who only works on February 30th from 2600-2601. You didnt read that incorrectly, nor did I make a typo. Its impossible to get in contact with this person and when I actually did, I was expecting that someone else would call me with procedural information because she basically called me to say that my party was in fact booked because of the fiasco that occurred when I went to sign the birthday contract for a party Id booked over the phone. Ill update this after the party but from my experience and the other reviews Ive read, I already regret booking here.

The Briargate YMCA has been deeply disappointing. There have been numerous issues, but todays was the last straw. After a long, hard workout, I was looking forward to some time in the hot tub. I made sure to finish with time for a 20-minute soak and a 10-minute shower and dress. But my plan was derailed when a staff member tending the hot tub passed, "Weve started closing the hot tub 30 minutes before we close the facility." Just a suggestion: If membership dues at your facility are higher than your competitors and your facility has limited operating hours to boot, you should consider leaving all of your facilities open until the close of the day. As much as I would like to support the Y and its role in the community, Ive simply had enough.
