Joined Lifetime Fitness in hopes of find a gym that would be focused on training. Lifetime is stacked full of good things like a cafe, salon, tennis courts, basketball, rock climbing, weights, etc. The downside to this gym is that it is simply an upscale YMCA. You will quickly find that their are kids running just about everywhere and you will be forced to wait, even in the weight room, for a twelve year old or younger person to finish using the system you really need. Weight Room: Has a lot of great systems and a quick gander will show you that Lifetime is really focused on cardio junkies and system training. The free weights make up less than a 1/3 of the entire floor and remarkably only consist of 1 set dumbbell weights over 50 lbs. This, of course, means you will have to wait in line to simply use the dumbbells unless you are sporting an exercise routine of less than 50 lbs. The weights are in increments of 5 lbs so if you are planning on building strength and size, you are forced to make 5 lbs jumps. This is unlike most gyms who offer 2.5 lbs increments thus allowing for the reduction of injury and the increase in strength. I have yet to ever not wait on a dumbbell or open bench. Rock Climbing: A good area but the routes are not labelled properly and again, you will be forced to wait on kids ranging from 5 years old on up to simply get a good climb in. Due to the hours the wall is made available, there is no such thing as a "good time to climb" as the wall is always over packed with children. Pool: Is a great asset when staff monitor it properly and ensure kids are not in the lap lanes simply playing or having teen "date night". The outdoor pool is great and my son and I have spent numerous days in the summer enjoying it. Child Care: The child care center is great. No real complaints here. My son loves it and this is the only reason I justify paying triple what I did at 24 Hour Fitness. Showers: Excellent Tennis/Basketball Courts: I dont use either. Cafe: Good food at a reasonable price. Most of the items are healthy-depending on your personal goal. All in all, the club is focused on families and feels like a YMCA as kids are everywhere. If the club could focus on rounding up the preteens and teens-this would truly help those wanting to focus on fitness. As a parent, I go to the gym to work out and decompress-not babysit. The parking at the gym is horrible as it is usually overflowing with people. Cell phone service is non existent inside but the club does have free wifi-but not throughout the club. The fees are not set. Since starting my membership-they have raised the rate every year by a couple bucks. For those wanting a family circus-I would recommend this club. For those athletes and body builders-get ready for some unorganized chaos and frustration. The club has only been open a little over a year and they have already had to replace the club manager.

We left the Briargate YMCA to come here. First, the pros: the club is gorgeous and is very clean and has ample equipment and classes. I know it has only been open for about a week and the the crowding issues will hopefully die down a bit. That being said, the childcare is AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL. First of all, the area is massive and holds kids from newborns up until something like 12 years old. This is ridiculous!! That is the lamest system ever to combine 3 year olds with 12 year olds...they need to have more segregation according to age. There have been MANY complaints filed in regards to the childcare already in addition to mine. They informed me that their maximum capacity is 150 kids and that the computer keeps a count to ensure this is not being exceeded. OK, fine. They also said they always meet the legal ratio of 1:12. But get this...the 2 staff working the computers up front checking in and checking out COUNT AS THAT RATIO!! This is BS. So you have 2 people who are part of the ratio and yet they do not watch the kids at all since their entire time is spent MIS-MANAGING the check-in/out process. Be aware that you need to add at least 15 minutes onto either side of your workout in order to account for the time you will spend in the black hole of the childcare center. My son was known on a first-name basis at the Y and they always had more than enough staff on hand. At Lifetime, your child will be treated as a nobody with a sticker on their back and will get ZERO attention. My son never complained of problems at the Y and every time I pick him up here he says that he was being hit/punched, bit, etc. I asked about this and they assured me this could never happen on their watch. Yeah right. They also dont monitor the bathrooms and the kids are allowed to go in and out of the inappropriate one (girls in the boys and vice versa) and play around in there. I dont have the option to go to a gym without childcare as I am a military spouse whose husband is home only a few weeks a year. It is very likely that I will end up leaving Lifetime if the childcare situation doesnt improve. I feel safe that my child will not escape the area b/c its like Fort Knox getting in and out of there. At the same time, I am concerned for his personal safety there...there simply is not enough *caring* staff on hand to manage the kids and give them any sort of attention.

I rarely write reviews, yet I scoured them to help me decide if I wanted to join here, so I felt compelled to share my own experience. I have a 1 yr old, so daycare was a must. At first I thought it was great, there were around 8 kids and 2 staff and granted they did have the kids in front of a huge TV, so I asked the staff to not let my son watch TV and they said no problem. When I picked him up he was playing away from the TV. However, I took him in the morning and was horrified to find a mob of kids, like a 100, and only 1 person in the toddler area. Kids were screaming and fighting, throwing stuff. If this was any other daycare I think it would have been shut down. There was no way I was going to leave him. The only times The only times its not packed and understaffed is between 2-4. I was very motivated to work out here in the beginning, but battling the crazy parking lot got old fast. So now if I cant make it between 2--4 I dont go. Thats pretty un-motivating. My experience with the Spa services was poor in Colorado Springs, but excellent in Centennial. The goal setting session that they charge $80 for is a joke. Its a sales session akin to timeshare, they should be paying you to attend. It was supposed to be an hour, it was 20 minutes mostly because the girl was a lousy salesperson to boot, and totally unsure of what she was doing. The fitness assessment and nutritionist counseling was also a joke. I am supposed to take advice from a trainer who is overweight? I dont think so. The facilities are very nice and clean, love the towel service, steam room, group classes and yoga. The cafe is nice too. It is true however, you are just a number, there is no warmth here. My sales guy Brent Johnson was really cool and conversational when he was trying to get me to come in to sign up, but he has not once said hi since. I make the effort for eye contact and smiles when people walk by but they purposely look right past you. I think the vibe of the place eventually infects the members. I had a very different experience at the Centennial location. Its in a more affluent area, yet the people there were just so much friendlier. I live in OCC and the sad truth is that its still the best facility in the Springs. Decided to cancel and stick to outdoor workouts.
