Applewood Plumbing is the best plumbing and heating contractor Ive ever used. Yesterday, I had my furnace inspected as part of my gold service club membership. During the inspection your technician Mike Townsend noticed that my water heater was installed incorrectly and that I also had a small gas leak. Mike gave me a choice to repair the existing heater installation or simply put in a new water heater as the prices were very similar. Rather than repair the old installation, I chose to replace the water heater and the new installation was scheduled for this morning. I asked Mike about a broken drain line that I thought I had (I had been informed by another company 9 years ago that I had a broken sewer line and also broken drain line which would require jack hammering out my basement slab and digging up my yard to complete the repair), Mike scheduled Jaime Rodriguez to look at the situation and give me an estimate while the water heater was being installed. Jaime used his camera and found out that the other company had misinformed me, and that there was no break in my line. Additionally, two floor drain lines were blocked and Jaime stated that he thought it was just a clog and that he would try to clear it. He told me that if he couldnt clear it because it was broken, he wouldnt charge me for the attempt. To make a long story short, the sewer and both drain lines are now working fine. I was saved from spending somewhere on the order of $15,000 (not to mention the huge mess tearing out a basement slab would cause) and my sewer line and drain lines are in good shape. Thanks to Mike Townsend, his apprentice Mason Tibbets, Jaime Rodriguez and his apprentice Michael Pemberton for not only doing a superb job on my furnace, water heater and drain lines but for being thorough and conscientious resulting in a great job. This is the third time in less than a year that Applewood Plumbing has saved me a ton of money by doing superior work on short notice. Last summer Applewood replaced my air conditioner and installed an outdoor gas fireplace. During my gas fireplace intallation, your techinican Searl asked me if I would like to check my water pressure. When we checked it was good pressure in the front and bad in the back. Searl told me I must have a leak. When we looked in the crawl space the pipe had just broken and Searl repaired it on the spot. If he hadnt suggested that we check the water pressure that leak would have continued and my home foundation and basement would have been at great risk. The simple attention to detail by your techinicians both that day, yesterday and today combined to save me money and worry. Because of Applewood Plumbings professionalism and thorough attention to detail I will never use another plumbing and heating contractor for any of my plumbing and heating work. I just want to say thanks - and the cake balls were wonderful.

In this day and age of generally poor customer service, Applewood has managed to re-define the negative customer experience… Last Friday, 6/10/16, I called and set up an appointment for tomorrow, Saturday 6/18/16…Upon leaving my job at 5pm today, Friday, 6/17/16 I received a voice mail from an Applewood representative requesting a call back to discuss my appointment…Upon returning the call and speaking to one of their call center representatives, I was informed that my appointment was being canceled…When I asked why, and explained that I had waited a week and arranged my entire Saturday to accommodate the 9a-11a appointment I was told that Applewood has long time customers that take precedence… When I set up the appointment, I was not made aware that I had to become a charter member of the Applewood Plumbing and Heating “good old boys club” in order to ensure my appointment was kept…The phone representative I spoke to made no effort to fix the problem, and expressed even less concern when I stated I was considering taking my business elsewhere…The representative then began arguing with me and eventually had me so frustrated with her “I could care less” attitude that I will admit that I used profanity and had to hang up… I then called back and spoke to another phone representative, this time a young man, and when I explained my frustration to him surrounding the previous call and the fact that I arranged my Saturday around this appointment and the promise that was made by Applewood to arrive at the agreed upon time, I was told that “there are no promises” and was again treated as if I were not important enough to accommodate despite the length of time I had waited and the last minute notice…And again, it was made clear that if I decided to take my business elsewhere, it was not a concern…Again I was appalled at the complete disregard for the inconvenience that I was caused, the failure to honor their commitment to a customer, and the sarcasm surrounding the phone representatives responses…Having said all of that, I chose not reschedule and take my business anywhere else but Applewood and managed to find someone to come to my home tonight(Friday 6/17/16) and fix the problem…I only wish I had called them sooner… I can only imagine that if Applewood initiates a business relationship in this fashion, that the actual services that would be rendered are just as, if not even more unacceptable, and I would not want to let the employees of Applewood anywhere near, much less inside of my family’s home…

I called Applewood because the pipe that drains my kitchen sink/dishwasher was leaking. Technician came out and determined that the leak was from a crack in the pipe approximately 3-5 inches from where the pipe enters my basement (basement is not finished all plumbing is easily accessible). No leakage in the sink cabinet, just from the portion of pipe in the basement. The Applewood technician proceeded to explain to me that since the leak was so close to the basement ceiling, he would have to cut a hole in the back of the kitchen sink cabinet and replace the pipe that is in the wall that goes down into the basement. I asked the technician for a quote. After approximately 15 minutes he came back with a quote for $1300, including their lame service plan. Paid the technician the $29 service call fee and told him I would need to get another quote. Called a local plumber recommended by my wifes cousin. He came out, took a look at the pipe and said he could just replace the broken portion in my basement for $200. When I mentioned I had another plumber out who wanted to replace the entire pipe in the wall to the tune of $1300 and leave a nice huge gaping hole in the back of my cabinet for me to repair or pay to repair, he asked who it was. When I said Applewood his reply was " I am surprised they didnt want to remodel your entire house". Here it is approximately 45 days after the repair and everything is working like a champ, also the local plumber ended up only charging me $170 for the repair since it didnt take as long as he originally thought! My takeaways from the experience: 1) Do not do business with Applewood, they are a hopelessly unethical, pathetic excuse for a company 2) Shop around, get multiple quotes, talk to friends and family 3) There are still some good, honest, ethical contractors out there 4) Since Applewood is A+ rated by the Better Business Bureau and on Team Dave Logan it shows me those credentials arent worth a booger 5) The only conclusion I can draw concerning those that have given Applewood a positive rating is that they are either clueless or were gifted something. Not sure how the Applewood ownership/management can look in the mirror and feel good about themselves. You can provide a needed service, make a comfortable living and not resort to shafting people. Hopefully this review will help others from getting duped by this shameless company.
