In October, I bought all the necessary equipment for a snorkeling trip to Turks and Caicos this January. Since it was my first trip, I asked for all the advice I could get. Among other things, I was sold a set of fins. While on the trip, I left the fins on the patio of the place we were staying for a couple of days, along with all the other equipment held by my wife and mother-in-law. The fins I had melted and fused together. None of the other equipment sitting next to my fins was damaged by the sun or heat. When I brought the fins back and asked for a refund, the guy behind the counter said he did not have the authority to make adjustments. A manager named Bob was brought out and my request was denied. Bob told me that the fins had been exposed to "extreme" heat and there was nothing wrong with the manufacture of the fins so he would not do anything. After more conversation where I said that, if the fins are vulnerable to melting in the sun, I should have been informed; just like I was informed on how to wash and care for the mask and skins, he relented and allowed a store credit. Although I have no need to buy another thing from this store, it was the only thing he was willing to do. My issues are twofold. One, if a particular set of fins are vulnerable to this phenomenon, tell the customer in advance, especially if they are a novice. Two, dont take a dismissive tone with a customer who may either become a loyal return customer or recommend others. The shop itself seems to have good equipment available and some of the staff are good to work with. But, I will not give them my business nor will I refer others. This will probably cost them more business than they saved by not refunding a measly $62.

I found this shop to be World Class! I have been all over the southwest as well as the northwest USA and I can tell you right off.....Dont be put off by the cost of gear and training, in the scuba world you most often get what you pay for. However be that as it may what makes a trully great dive shop are the Divers that work there! This dive shop "walks the walk and talks the talk" From tec to wreck, 80/80 dives, warm water to deep dark and cold these folk know there biz. Dont take my word for this go see all the other dive shops then come to the best last so you stop looking....... you dont see tec gear on the shelfs in most dive shops nor do you see so many different brands to chose from in most of them and they stand behind there gear. by the way Im not from Co. nor do I work for any dive shop,,,,,But I am Like you, every dime I have, I work for and when I spend them I need to get the most out of them.

I recently finished my certification at A1 and let me say this: it was nothing shy of spectacular. Their customer service is outstanding, the instructors know what they are talking about and are willing to help you learn. Never once did I feel that I was being rushed or ignored. The retail side is also outstanding very helpful and friendly sales staff. The prices are competetive with the other shops in the area, of course you can find it online cheaper. But if no one supports local dive shops then how will future divers get certified? So I dont mind paying a little more to support a great shop like this. I am already planning my next course with A1 for my next level of certification.

Diving with the sharks was fantastic. Saw the reviews about bad staff and costs, but from our dive with them the entire staff was very friendly and helpful and all costs were very clear from the beginning. Absolutely amazing dive and they gave us free pictures but I would recommend bringing your own camera as well. The dive was just my finacee and I with two instructors and one camera lady, which was very nice (they only take groups of 3 per dive). Sadly the aquarium itself doesnt have this policy and was extremely busy for our dive (new years day, kind of our fault), so our relatives had a hard time viewing us.

The staff at A1 is extremely knowledgeable on gear and equipment, they answered all questions I had when selecting my gear. The instructors, Jim and Julie, made me feel very comfortable and safe in the water. They gave excellent instruction and demonstration before we executed each lesson. They provided solid information when any of us had a question. Ryan, one of the techs, helped me pick a mask that would work for me, and stopped by the pool to make sure everything was working right. I would recommend A1 scuba to anyone that is pursuing recreational diving. Thanks again for the great experience!

Even though I am very happily married I have absolutely fallen in love with the guys at A-1! Scuba Steve (and Dan) was the best instructor, Mike can customize, build, or repair anything, Sean was very knowledgeable in the products/equipment and helped me pick exactly what I needed and wanted, and Eric has a way about him that makes you feel like you belong there; they are all just fantastic. If you have any fear, concern, or difficulty they will stop at nothing to help you through it at your pace and teach you to be very comfortable with every step of training. I highly recommend; youll be hooked for life!

Great place to prep for my first scuba diving experience. Staff was very helpful and friendly throughout the process. One comment would be to figure out a way to streamline the online vs. classroom options for the initial part of the certification class. I had done the online class and taken the quizzes already so when the rest of the class had to do them, I just kinda hung out. It would have been cool to have more time in the pool but I also understand since it was just me maybe that wasnt an option and sometimes it is different.

There are other shops much closer to me that I have tried but I go to A1 because the staff is awesome.I have worked mostly with Ryan and Ken but the others are great as well, they are always friendly and willing to help. The staff has a ton of knowledge and genuinely enjoys what they do and treat their customers in a manner that will keep them coming back unlike another place I went to that really needs some customer service training. I wont name names but you will probably know if you have been there.

This place is all about getting your money. My experience the owner travels so much he or she just does not care. I found the store to fine, you can get way better deals a diver-supply. com. That being said, I signed up for a Rescue diver class and found the instructor to be the worst kind of instructor. Found the instructor to be so egotistical they he was unapproachable when I had an issue with my equipment. You would do well find a small operation, where the owner cares and staff are helpful.

An awesome place with people that will take the time to make sure that you are comfortable with each step. It was a little scary for me especially being disabled, they took the extra time to get me acquainted with the process and what to expect, then it was on!! absolutely a blast!! To be disabled and in the water free to do what any able body person can do...AWESOME!!!! Some of the best people that you could ever hope to know, no question! Henry Jameson
