UPDATE: October 28, 2011.....Look who took the time to write a PERSONAL note to me AND send a $100 dollar gift card...the owner of Silvanas Day Spa, Sylvia! Well, THAT is a good business-woman. My original Facebook post/Google review is below...and since I posted how poor the front desk service was, I feel its important to also post how the owner has made things right. The first time I went to Sylvanas Day Spa, I LOVED IT. I had the Thalasso Body Wrap, they have a fabulous uber-european style, upscale flair, THEY shower you off...you dont have to go to another room...its luxurious. They used Yon-Ka products....it was amazing. THAT is why I decided to go back. My second experience was a complete 180. You can read the whole story and see what a happy ending it has....Im so happy to say that I WILL go back to Sylvanas! ****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** ***(HERE IS THE LETTER I RECEIVED today, Its what Sylvia hand wrote me on October 26, 2011)******** ******************************************************************************************************************************** "Dear Christine, I would like to apologize for the discourteous treatment you received on your arrival at Silvanas Day Spa. Truly, Sylvia" ******************************************************************************************************************************** *****************(AND HERE IS THE ORIGINAL Facebook post/Google review from Sept 23rd, 2011)************ ******************************************************************************************************************************** "Showed up for my appointment 1/2 hour early today at Silvanas Day Spa. My technician was not there and had left the day before early because her child was sick. Why wasnt I called the night before? They could have at least alerted me that I should call first to see if my treatment was on....EVERYONE understands when kids are sick. A courtesy call last night would have been wonderful....I wouldnt have wasted my time driving all the way out for nothing. A simple, "Im so sorry, I know this is an inconvenience....but would you mind rebooking for next week and well include a complimentary manicure" .....would have been all I needed to rebook. I know I sound like Im being a drama queen....and hey, I work and I have kids...so I know how hard it is. I also expect some professionalism when Im paying $125 for a body wrap. ? To make matters worse the young lady at the front desk didnt discourage me from simply using my gift card to buy products and NOT rebook. I was very surprised. There was no apology whatsoever. Just a blank stare. I make my rounds at local spas through-out the CT area, This Spa in particular was very quaint, i loved my service, and my technician. so 5 stars for that!! I had an amazing Massage, followed by a pedicure! Unfortunately by the time i got up to the front desk, i was more stressed out than when i came in! At first i thought a client had wandered behind the front desk, due to her baggy clothes and un kept appearance (all the other employees were dressed very appropriately in fashionable black and white clothing, while she was wearing a baggy white shirt and looked extremely unhealthy). I realized she worked there when she proceeded to ring me out however she had absolutely NO idea what she was doing. she had to go get the other front desk girl, who was extremely sweet and finally someone who knew how to do their job!!! unfortunately the girl in the baggy clothes wouldnt stop talking long enough to let the other front desk girl ask me how i would be paying or if i would like to schedule another appointment. that was such a NO NO in my book, (after 2 and a half hours of pampering and relaxation, the last thing i want to do is listen to a motor mouth when i want to just get home and relax some more!) EVEN WORSE!! - after i had paid, i couldnt even get to the door because the baggy clothed woman WAS STILL TALKING as i was trying to walk away!! AMAZING spa, WONDERFUL service providers, Mary & Michelle were AMAZING, but god forbid you have to be somewhere or indend on leaving relaxed, because the chatter will stress you out, and wake you up! Customer Service: 3 stars Spa Services: 5 stars Prices: Average Selection: Decent ***will i go back?? - maybe once theyve hired someone new for the front desk. (i want to be able to relax, not listen to a parrot)

I decided to try this place since it was so close to home. The staff was super friendly, with a very attentive owner. I had my hair cut and got some highlights on, but while I explained the dresser that I needed layers, she proceeded to do something else on my hair that now causes it to tangle non stop. No layers to be found whatsoever. I went for a mani then, but the lady doing it was in a rush and didnt do it right the first time, she even cut my finger that she kept dipping in a solution even when I told her several times it stung. Nail color was atrociously applied, but when telling this to the owner she offered to re-apply it later. I had to come back later that day (when I had already spent about 4 hours in that day) to get the mani redone. While I do think the personnel was very friendly and nice, the cost of the services is very high for not having done exactly what you request. I explained the lady that cut my hair how another dresser had done the same with the same consequences (super tangly hair) and she seemed to disregard my opinion completely. I am not entirely worried since hair and nails grow. I will eventually be able to brush my hair normally, but I can say I dont think I will come back.

I heard so much positive about this place so I decided to try it. My experience was not what I expected. The location is not the greatest and quite claustrophobic inside. Anyway I came here asking if she could give me a different look for my hair. She said oh certainly. My hair was exactly the same when I left Silvanias and when I tell you EXACTLY I mean it. If she cut any hair off at all that would be an understatement. Very dissatisfied. The stylist whom said she was a model in Miami for years did nothing but talk about herself and how beautiful and young looking she is. She then proceeded to talk disrespectful about the owner of Silvanias which I thought was rather unprofessional especially this being my first visit here and the owner 2 stations away. This hair stylist did not belong here. I was quite dissappointed on my first visit not to mention for $125.00 I could have gone to Family Hair Cut in Bristol and gotten a better hair cut from their staff or Cost Cutters. Seriously.... I will not return to such unprofessional ism and if this is how you run your business I dont foresee you staying in business much longer.

I have been going to Silvanas Day Spa for over 20 years and have never had a bad experience with the customer service or services provided. I feel terrible that some individuals have had a less than stellar customer service experience. As you can see from other reviews, once the problem is brought to the owners attention she takes care of it immediately. Silvias prompt and personal response to the one reviewers negative experience proves that she cares and takes responsibility for the behavior of her staff. I have never heard her speak disrespectfully towards employees. I always feel welcomed and thoroughly pampered, regardless of what service Im getting, from the moment I walk into the Spa until the moment I leave. Michelle and Mary are fantastic! Michelle recently recommended the Clarisonic Opal to me (helps to lessen / remove those pesky wrinkles around the eyes and the laugh lines). After 1 week, I saw the calcium deposits around my eyes almost vanish! I highly recommend this product.
