Since my stylist of 20 years retired in 2005, Ive been hopping around in search for the best stylists for my straight hair. After seeing many different stylists as long as two years straight and not really loving it that much, my search continued. More than a year and half ago I decided to do research on great hair cutters. I came across Gabriels reviews. They were all excellent. I told many ladies at work about his talents but yet I was afraid to go to him thinking I may be the only one who doesnt like the cut. because Im very particular. Since I need a haircut every 8 weeks to maintain my style, I decided to try two new salons first & saw two different stylists over the past 1 1/2 years. I still wasnt satisfied. I actually made two appointments with Gabriel and cancelled. Finally, I called him again and said Im ready for haircut with you. He is talented, an artist who transformed my boring bob into an attractive layer cut. My husband said, "did you get a haircut? Its nice". My husband over the years says has only said, "did you get a haircut?" Never adding, "its nice". I always had to ask him if he liked it. He never smiled like he did with this cut. People at work complimented the cut. They were like, "wow". I feel young and hip with this cut. I have thick, medium density straight hair and Gabriel new how to give my hair volume. Gabriel gives individualized attention. Worth the money. The salon is clean, bright, playing soothing music and theres a TV screen showing a fashion show while you wait. I will be back!

The vibe of the salon is amazing! Decor is fabulous, music is fabulous, the salon assistant is fabulous and Gabriel is PHENOMENAL! I rarely get haircuts for two reasons; first, I am very low-maintenance and like bed-head, and second, I always end up paying exorbitant prices for incredibly mediocre haircuts, which is frustrating. Salon Gabriel makes me want to get a haircut every single day. The atmosphere is totally great- no ultra modern interior, very laid back. I have very long wavy/curly hair, and most stylists cut it as though it were straight- even stylists who claim to have special training for cutting curly hair. Gaberiel used a specific technique (the name escapes me) that is appropriate for wavy hair as well as straight, so I can let it air-dry or flat iron it. He used Kerastase products, which is what I use at home (a definite plus), and took his time. I wanted layers cut in while keeping the length. When he finished, my hair was soooo straight and incredibly shiny. The layers looked fabulous, and moved when I walked. After washing and styling curly, it looks equally incredible. As I left the salon and walked back to the Whole Foods numerous vagrants made comments and whistled at me, and Im pretty sure it was the hair. If thats not a good recommendation, I dont know what is.

I had extremely damaged hair due to a previous keratin treatment that did not take, and two horrible haircuts. I was waiting for the previous keratin treatment to run its course before I scheduled a new treatment. I bought a keratin treatment from Groupon. After my brazilian blowout treatment, it was obvious that I needed a haircut asap as my newly straightened hair was an uneven mess. I scheduled an appointment with Gabriel to cut my hair for the next day. I wanted a bob similiar to a Jessica Simpson/Keira Knightley, and trust me the before was no where near a "cute bob". After he was done, he had somehow blended the uneven broken bangs and created the bob that I wanted as much as he could with the hair that I have. I absolutely love my haircut, and I am not one to love my hair. I have to give the keratin treatment 5 stars, the haircut 5 stars, and the experience of being treated in a small service-oriented salon 5 stars. Thank you Gabriel, and you have a new long-term customer.

I had been going to this place for Brazilian blowouts for the last three years but hadnt been in a while. I went today on a Saturday afternoon, was told they were running 20 minutes behind. An hour later they still werent ready and the guy insisted that theyd be charging me full price. I just left, my hair sopping wet because they washed that, and the guy dropped an attitude on me like I was in the wrong. He tells me the whole thing will take 20 minutes. Ive been doing this for 5 years...it doesnt. I will never come back here, ever again. Killing a summer Saturday afternoon is ridiculous. Update to the one star review, now two: Gabriel called me, he wasnt there at this time, and offered a free service at the time of my choosing. He was very apologetic and while I appreciate the post-situation sentiment, Im not planning on going back. My time is valuable too and Id rather give the money to another salon.

I originally went to Gabriel because of a very poor haircut from another salon. It was so poorly done, I didnt think anyone could fix the cut without cutting my hair very short. He proved my fear unfounded. I was pleasantly surprised to find he books each client privately! You are not interrupted by others and have his total attention for the entire hour. He has a warm and patient personality and actually listens to your requests. My haircut was fantastic and is growing out beautifully. Gabriel is a true artist in every sense of the word. He "sculpts" your hair to fit your features. I feel his prices are very reasonable for the excellent service one receives. I highly recommend Gabriel Shimunov Hair Salon to anyone looking for technical expertise, and a calm and relaxing experience.

I had an amazing experience getting my hair done here. I would definitely recommend this salon to anyone with all types of hair. All the staff members make you feel comfortable as soon as you walk in the door. They are energetic and make you feel so good. I have very curly, frizzy and long hair. I had a brazilian blowout and bayalage; it turned out better than I had imagined. I am usually scared when I go to a hair salon that I do not know nothing about, but I definitely found my new hair salon. I love the fact that everyone works together willingly. Thank you everyone at Gabriel Shimunov, you will definitely be seeing me again when it is time for me to touch up!!!!

I was pleasantly surprised by the service I received. I called for a Keratin appointment and was able to get in the same day. The Greenwich salon was easy to find and had available parking. I have had Keratin treatments done many times before and usually cry through them because of the chemical smell, but this salon had a ventilation system that I have never seen used before. There was no smell or crying this time! Will definitely go back again for another Keratin. The salon was clean, small and quiet. Everyone there was fantastic!

After a disastrous haircut at Bumble & Bumble, I was looking for someone who could not only fix it but also give me a great haircut. I am extremely particular about my haircuts and generally appreciate hair stylists who understand their client’s needs and also have creative insights. Gabriel is totally fabulous! He understood what I wanted and gave me something even better. I was very impressed with his work and will definitely be going back to him! He is not only talented but also very affordable!
