Based on most recent experience with Riley Plumbing I feel the need to share my thoughts on this company. I had used them once a few years ago when I had a plumbing emergency and they came out extremely fast. The plumber Jay was very professional and issue was resolved. Overall, a pleasant experience. Although the bill was much higher than I expected for that experience, I chalked it up to them coming right out and solving the issue immediately. Fast forward a few years. We decided to replace our electric hot water heater and called Riley. Jay came back out and after looking at our current model he suggested upgrading to larger 80 gallon hybrid model. The quote for the hot water heater plus labor came to $3,828. My jaw almost hit the ground as anyone with an internet connection can do a quick Google search and find that the exact same model sells for around $1900. As the hot water heater wasnt broken, I decided to hold off a while. Recently, running out of hot water halfway through the 2nd shower became such a hassle that I finally decided to bite the bullet and replace it. Although I knew Riley Plumbings price was higher, I figured I would give them a call and try to discuss how they were getting to that number and do some negotiation. Im someone that doesnt mind paying a slightly higher price for good service and peace of mind so I figured I would give them another shot. Boy was I ever wrong. Not only do they not negotiate, the price the woman I spoke with explained the price had actually gone up to $4012 for an 80 gallon hybrid installed. When I asked what the labor rate was an how long it typically takes to install a water heater, I was told they go by a book that tells them what to charge. Unreal that a so called small business uses a corporate pricing book as opposed to common sense and what is a fair price. My next call was to Plimpton Hills. The gentleman I spoke with gave me a price of $1900 for the heater and also referred me to a few local licensed plumbers in the area. Heres what happened. The plumber I spoke with, Wes Cyr, Cry Plumbing said he could do the job within a day. He also shared that the water heater had a $400 rebate that he would pass on and his labor rate would be $75 per hour. End result is it was installed last night....total bill was $1895 and his warranty on the labor is exactly the same as Riley Plumbing. If Riley Plumbings price would have been 10,20 30 or even 40% higher I would not be writing this review. Im a capitalist and my feeling is something is worth what someone is willing to pay. However, as their price was over double the price, 115% higher to be exact, I felt the need to share this to prevent someone in the future from being totally ripped off by this company. I almost want to go buy something nice for myself today for the $2200 I saved by making a few calls. Be smart, do research and dont let this company separate you from your hard earned money!

I was a little taken back on the "Flat Rate" plumbing pricing which was described as menu pricing. The work completed and workmanship was not a problem. My personal mistake was not having asked for an estimate in advance of the scheduled visit (which would have disclosed the flat rate pricing allowing me to review other competitive sources). Being presented with an estimate to install two items (all prep work had been done) and being faced with a decision to proceed at an estimated $1400+ was difficult. I elected to proceed to get the work finished. After the fact - Allowing an estimated $100. for material costs (fittings and two valves) the remaining labor charge of $1300. was at least 3X the DOL prevailing wage for plumbers! Five hours of labor at roughly $260.00 per hour did not "make me smile" A very expensive and painful lesson learned!

We recently used Riley Plumbing & Heating to replace a faulty hot water heater and all I can say is WOW. The level of professionalism from Nancy who we originally spoke with to Scott who eventually came out to the house (twice) for the final install. The service Riley Plumbing & Heating provide is amazing. They were open on a Sunday and were willing to come out the same day to replace the tank. Turned out we didnt quite know what we needed. Scott, the owner, came to our house Sunday evening and walked us through the options available to us and actually reccomended we wait until the following day for a different model that would suit our familys needs better. No high pressure sales at all. Highly reccomended. Thanks Scott, Nancy and the entire team. We wont hesitate to call with our next project....or issue.

I had this company come out to give me an estimate. The person who came out was very professional. The person i spoke to on the phone was also professional. They were on time and even called me a few minutes before coming out to let me know they are coming out. So thats all good news. The bad news is that they wanted to charge me two to three times what it should cost. About $500 to change a ball valve. After they left i called a few more places to get an estimate which is how i know they over charge. I cant speak for their work which very well may be great, but I can tell you they are very expensive. Changing out a ball valve should not cost this much. The person who will be doing the work at my house is a licensed plumber. He will charge me $150 for this job.

I called Riley Plumbing & Heating at 7:25 in the morning and described my problem to Carmella E. and she scheduled me for a 2-hour window around midday which was fine. A short while later Carmella called back to ask if an earlier appointment would be OK! That was terrific because a couple of sinks in this old house finally had enough and would not drain water. Jason S. arrived and quickly diagnosed the problems, which I could not have handled myself no matter what. In about 90 minutes Jason had both sinks draining like new -- better than ever since we moved in 16 years ago. Plus he instructed me with some tips on how to keep the drains clear WITHOUT CHEMICALS! 5 Stars for Riley P&H!

The folks at Riley are knowledgeable and very responsive. The conversion project they completed for me was very smooth, with Riley really taking care of everything that needed to be done. Jason was the best, making sure he kept me up to date on everything that needed to be done, and also recommending things along the way that showed he was sincerely interested not just with the current job but also the longer term satisfaction of his customer. If you are interested in a company that will partner with you on a project and not just "get the job done," these folks are exactly what you should be looking for. They have become my go to company for heating and water service!
