Let me start off by saying that I have worked for a mom and pop auto shop in the past, and I have learned to tell when a mechanic is ripping me off or not. The guys at this Firestone are just as honest as the guys at the mom and pop shop around the corner. This is literally the best experience I have had at a large chain auto repair shop. My car has been making a faint humming noise for a while, so I finally took it in for service. I walked in, described the symptoms, and then the SERVICE MANAGER of the store literally came out to my car, started feeling my tires (almost like someone would hold their own child) and hopped in for a test drive. We drove around for about 5 or 6 miles, and he reached around in my car, feeling all of the different body support structures, and listening intently. When we got back to the shop, the car went right up on the lift and I saw the manager himself rolling the wheels with his hands and feeling for bad bearings. The only thing throughout the entire ordeal that he tried to sell me was Firestones lifetime alignment deal (which to be fair is a fantastic deal, unlimited alignments for the life of the car for double the cost of a single alignment). I dont know how much longer I will have the car, so I declined, but for those of you who are planning on keeping yours for a while, I would recommend it. He did not push it any more after that. After all was said and done, he gave me a synopsis of the problem with estimated costs for repairs (all of which were in line with what I would expect) and his business card, and said that when I was ready for new tires to give him a call and he would help me out with the price. I did an alignment (which it needed after a year or two in the northeast), and didnt pay a cent extra for the hour or so worth of time he spent diagnosing my car. Overall, a great experience, and I would strongly recommend to anyone in the Hartford area.

I had a vehicle that had sat for 9+ months because of bad brakes. I knew it had a dead battery and even with a jump start it would not turn over. I had it towed to Firestone and they diagnosed it in a timely manner and provided me with a quote of $2,000 for the brakes, battery, belts, alternator, tune up (plugs and wires), fuel system treatment and timing belt (112,000 miles). They did good work and were fast. But some minor issues. 1) I had to suggest the waterpump be done while the timing was done. I was surprised they didnt suggest it. 2) It did take longer to complete because while doing the timing, the tech broke the cam gear. But they were forthcoming about it and replaced it at no cost. They could have just told me "its taking longer than we thought" but instead were honest. 3) They didnt inspect my tires after noticing I needed an alignment after test driving (Firestone??). They didnt check them until after I suggested it. All in all an OK experience. They dealt with me in a very professional manner and were polite and prompt in answering my questions and proving me with information. They just seemed maybe a bit understaffed and rushed. Perhaps due to the holiday (it was New Years weekend).

I had gone to them to get my car inspected to find if it had any mechanical problems. The guys behind the counter was very rude, he spoke very arrongantly. I had asked him a time estimate so that I could go around somewhere nearby with my wife and my 4 yr old son. however he kept saying - gimme some time. I asked him how much time he needed. he was not ready to give me a time estimate and instead very rudely said - go wherever you want, I dont know how much time it will take. It took them around 3 hours to inspect my vehicle, if I had known before-hand that it would take so long I would have planned something worthwhile. However I am not sure if all the other employees are like that, maybe this was just a one-off experience. I would not recomment anyone with dignity to go there and get rude replies to their questions.

Went in to get a tire rotation and afterwards Sales rep / manager said i needed replacement of front and back brake pads. Also, said i needed new rotors,he even went as far as giving an estimate of about 1000 to get all that done. I was hesitant because i had just done my brakes and rotors at this same location about a year ago, and usually brakes last longer. I took car to another location because there is no way in hell I was going to pay a G TO GET THAT DONE. Turns out that pads were still pretty much new with plenty of life left on them. Mechanic even measured rotors and they were fine. Ive taken my car here before and had stuff done that i doubt i needed. Do not bring your car here unless its just an emissions test or alignment, because you will end up getting ripped off.SMH.

Over quoted price and tires and they looked at my car and recommended I replace the intake manifold gasket because it was leaking oil they said. Thing is, the gasket was not bad and was recently replaced... The oil leaking was because the rubber seal on the oil cap was bad and oil was coming out from there. A $15 or so dollar fix with new oil cap. Big difference from the hundreds they wanted to replace a perfectly good gasket. They tried to say I needed something I never did need. Either they are uneducated idiots and couldnt see the oil coming from the bad oil cap, or they were trying to con me. This is why I dont trust anyone working on my car. Avoid these scammers.

I got a alignment done they did not tighten my adjustable upper control arms for my Honda that was the main reason for the alignment drove it home to find out the bolts were loose I could literally hand turn them very unprofessional the work was horrible and a serious risk factor do not bring ur car here you are taking a big chance on your safety. If u need and alignment bring it to Vernon Firestone they fixed my problem first time the way it should have been. Horrible experience will not be going there ever or recommend

Lots of bad reviews here so I thought Id give my honest appraisal. I needed to get one tire replaced, and it was less than a half hour for the work. They tried to sell me more tires and five hundred dollars worth of repairs but I politely declined. Whatever, thats their business model. They were all very respectful (sometimes an issue with a young woman on her own). $105 (service and tire) to change a tire on a 98 Honda Civic. Cant complain.

Took my car here for an oil change a few weeks ago. Pretty standard right? Nope. They over filled it by an ENTIRE quart.. Could have wrecked my engine had I not realized. Had to take it to a different mechanic and have the extra quart sucked out. Save yourself both the aggravation and extra money and go somewhere reputable.
