I get my oil changed at this place. I go in the morning before it gets busy. I get there at 7:55AM and am usually first in line. They will do an inspection as a courtesy. Takes about 45 minutes if no one else is there. Overall oil change experience- 5/5 Here is what I dont like: they will tell you several things are wrong with the car when the car is fine. For instance, last year I went there and got an oil change, they said my axles needed to be changed, needed new tire rods, new brakes, new battery. Overall cost 1500 dollars. I went to a mechanic I knew (my uncle), he said I only needed to change the tire rods, which costs 100 dollars (not from here though since they will mark up the price of the parts by about 400% and wont let you use your own parts). This past week I went there to get my oil changed, they said my cam seal is leaking, axles are leaking, tires are rotting, need a new air filter, which will cost about 1800 dollars all together. Went back to my mechanic, he said nothing is needed and that my car is fine. Moral of the story: they are very nice, professional, and do well at oil changes, however they will over exaggerate the problems in your car. Ill keep going there, but most likely only for oil changes. Edit: Quick edit, I forgot to add, they have a super cute puppy which helps with the waiting.

I am so upset right now...lesson learn - ask to look at the roters when they tell you they need to be replaced & cant be resurfaced. I went in to have my brakes and roters inspected. I called ahead so I didnt have to wait yet I still waited almost an hr for my car to even get into the garage. They said u need brakes & roters. I said can they be resurfaced they said "no they are too badly grooved" I should have asked to look but instead I trusted them. Scheduled to come back Monday and on I went. My husband told me, I felt ur roters, they dont need to b replaced, let get a second opinion. Went to Monro Brakes n Waterbury. I asked how much for brakes and roters he said "What makes u think u need roters?" I said well thats the thing... I need a second opinion. He said come by in the morning. Not only did he take me out to the garage to show me what great condition my brakes are in but they inspected my back shoes as well. They were almost missing!!! Why didnt Shelton auto care check my back ones too? They said they check everything. Why did they tell me my roters couldnt be resurfaced? Im not happy... I feel like that tried to take advantage of me. Unfortunate too, cause their customer service is great! They have you feeling so welcomed and builds your trust... then this. Dont be afraid to question them!!

These guys clearly dont know what theyre doing. Two days before Christmas I paid them $1600 to fix my car. When I go to pick it up my car it wouldnt start this has never happened to me with this car before. Turns out they messed up a wire on my starter quick fix no problem. After about a week my original problem came back again only worse. I took it back a second time to them. This time I was told they repaired a leak in my vacuum hose and it was fixed. When I asked if that could of been the problem the whole time they responded no. So either my car isnt fixed or I spent $1600 to repair w vacuum hose. To top it off when I stopped for coffee 10 minutes after picking my car off it wouldnt start again. So I now have a new problem to deal with thanks to these guys. Update: original problem of stalling got worse along with the new problem of not starting getting more frequent

I really like these guys. They are up front on all the pricing for their services and while admittedly I can do some of the work cheaper they are quick and they have a nice facility with a clean waiting room. You can observe the workers from the waiting area while they are doing their jobs. The other thing I like about this place is that even though its a franchise there doesnt seem to be a lot of turnover so I recognize the staff when I go in. They will also do custom work on request and get you whatever you want in terms of products. They use Pennzoil oil by default, but if you want a specific brand of oil they will get that for you (obviously for a slight price premium). Ive had them do some exhaust welding for me that turned out well. Theyve also got new equipment so they have a Hunter Roadforce 9700 machine for wheel balancing.

I bought a Groupon for an oil change and arrived on a Wednesday at 3:30. The man behind the counter was friendly and there was also a friendly dog walking around sitting on the chairs. There was free WiFi and tv as we waited, but the wait for me was over 2 hours. I feel that this is too long for an oil change and tire rotation. Other than that, the mechanics dropped off my car with no comments to me. I wanted to ask how the oil looked but no one came to see if I had any questions. I recently had service done at audi and there was an issue with my front right tire that the mechanics at Shelton Car Care did not catch. To end, I pulled out of the parking lot and my tire pressure light was on. I will not be going back.

These guys treated me like family. My 16 year old car with 250k miles on it broke down in Connecticut and I had it towed to Shelton Car Care. I was about 250 miles from home and in a tight spot. Dj at the front desk listened to my situation and got me in first thing in the morning even though the arrival was unscheduled and unannounced. It took ten seconds to see that the engine was cracked and they even let me keep it there until Monday for the scrap yard to come get it even though they made money on this. Based on this experience I can say that these folks are realy here to help people and not just make money.

Great experience. One of the very best places I ever been to. This doesnt usually happen to me but these guys are life savers and very experienced. My car died on me as Im driving to Connecticut and I was towed to these guy and their service was one of the best. Their prices are fair and I am one of the people that do NOT trust any mechanic but these guys really put the effort to give their customers the only best. The waiting room is clean and coffee is available. Also, they called everytime there was an update on my car and it was finished earlier than the time estimated. Which is a big plus.

Always so wonderful and willing to help with any request! Really great service and straight forward. Explains whats happening with the car and what are some potential risks in the future to watch out for such as brake pad changes or tire changes. Their oil changes are a bargain and they really know how to treat customers! If you want to trust your car with someone that will handle it carefully and know how to fix it, trust these guys. They know what they are doing.
