Mediocre car wash - terrible business ethics. Why I went ========= This car wash was located on my way to work, so when they opened up, I was happy to have a convenient place to stop by for my washes. The first time I went in, the lady at the register sold me on a monthly plan for unlimited washes a month (two washes and it pays for itself). She mentioned if at any point I want to cancel, simply call in or stop by the car wash and theyll cancel the membership -- so I figured, why not? Mediocre Wash ============= Anyhow, the car came out of the wash, and it looked okay, nothing spectacular at all. The wheels still had brake dust on them, car wasnt particularly shiny, and the interior still had dust on the dashboard panels. This was the experience every time I went for a wash. One of the times the owner of the place saw how crappy the car came out, and sent it through for a second wash. Terrible Business Ethics ==================== A few months into the membership, my office was relocated to Trumbull. Now that this car was was no longer in the way, and given the poor quality of the wash, I decided to cancel the membership. So I called in, spoke to a woman who confirmed that my membership will be cancelled effective that day, and that was supposed to be the end of that. Three months pass, Im reviewing my credit card statements and notice that I had been billed for each of those three months after the cancellation. I called in again, and the girl told me to stop by and speak to the manager and that I would be refunded. I went into the car wash, and met with a shifty man who said hed look into the situation. He looked up my record and said it was never cancelled, and the best he can do for me was cancel the membership going forward. Additionally, he saw in his records that I hadnt used the car wash for months. I mentioned to him that I got billed that day for next month, and he tried to give me a few excuses as to why he couldnt refund it, but after staring at him blankly, he realized how stupid his excuses sounded and said hed refund me for the upcoming month. As for the other two months, he said he couldnt do anything about them, even though he clearly saw that I hadnt used the wash in either of those months. He then mentioned that he needed his managers approval to do anything on this, but its unlikely anything could be done. I asked him what is role at the car wash was. He was the owner of the place. Does it get more pathetic than that? I think not. I walked away realizing that this place has questionable business practices, and that my best bet would be to dispute the charges. All I can say is that Im very disappointed by the this business, from the quality of the wash to horrible customer experience. I hope the owner learns to run his business with more honesty and transparency.

I don’t make a habit of forming an opinion about a business based on a one-time unfortunate experience. It’s the business owner’s answer (or lack thereof) to that experience that matters. When I saw my Subaru waiting between a Maserati and a Lexus for full-service cleaning on a sunny day, I assumed that it wouldn’t be getting most of the attention. I was right. While the Maserati got 2 or 3 guys polishing its every inch and the Lexus received pretty the same treatment, my car (which was between the two) had only one man working hard (but very fast) on it to get it out of the way. In the process, the inside of the windshield wasn’t sprayed/cleaned, which I realized as I was exiting the car wash. Incidentally, the windshield was one of the main reasons I had my car cleaned that day, so I emailed the owner to ask him whether the package I had purchased excluded inside windshield cleaning. A simple “I’m sorry; come back tonight and we’ll do it” would have made one happy, repeat customer, but I never got an answer. Now, it’s possible that NO package includes inside window cleaning (according to the information they have online, only the $39.95 Manager Special includes “interior detailing of hard surfaces”). If so, that would make of Greenwich Avenue Solar Car Wash the only car wash in Fairfield County that doesn’t clean inside windows for $20+, and probably the most expensive car wash in the country. Either way, a simple "Im sorry; only our Manager Special includes inside window cleaning" would have prevented a one-star review. My advice: Unless you have a luxury car, find another place.

Based on my personal experience since the solar car wash opened (I must have been one of the first customers in opening day) I must say that the technology used by this car wash is second to none and the most high tech facility in Stamford, if not Fairfield county. The water filtration systems, the warm water, the minimal creation of waste water is very impressive, plus the soft foam bristles that actually touch the surface of the car (which do not scratch as the hard brushes of other car wash facilities do...). Now, lets move on to what people care about, which is the quality of the wash... In a slow day, with no line or few cars your car will get LOTS of attention, while this is the opposite during busy days. Since I am a regular customer and Ive had a monthly plan since this business started, I have gotten to know all employees and many of the original team, still work there, with their friendly and dedicated manner. But, something that employees here (and specially the management) need to understand is that the way you dry the cars with the back and forth motion, will ultimately scratch the paint of the car. Overall, I will give a 5 star rating to the solar car wash because of the environmental impact to our community and having the high tech equipment they use.

The people that work here are good guys. However, each time I ask why they dont wipe the interior of the car they attempt to upsell on a $ 10 high pressure air cleaning. SPLASH does this for free! Bottom line? They do a decent job on the exterior, at a price considerably higher than the competition, but there are much better options throughout Stamford to have your car cleaned Bottom line, Ive been on the monthly plan for 3 months. You were down around the fourth of July for 4-5 days and monthly patrons should be given a refund. Great employees, but obviously you, as the management dont really care about the reviews or your customers perceptions. Ill be going to the cheapest plan that you offer just for those days when I dont go elsewhere !

I was going to rate this place with 1 star but after 2 min, Jered, one of the managers came out and fixed everything. It is a nice place and they do things quickly and effective if you are lucky to be attended by someone who likes to do their work and make clients be satisfied with their work. I was attended by a Latino (worst part is that Im Hispanic too) and before I got my car and all he gave me was attitude and telling me he didnt care what customers think or how bad a review was. Like I said... this guy definitely shows he doesnt care at all about the job he has but as soon as Jared stepped in and his team took over, things turned out fine.
