Needed to replace air suspension compressor. Dealer quoted over $600 for part and over $500 labor. I bought the part kit online for $300 and these guys successfully installed for $200. These guys will diagnose a problem for free (confirmed dealer eval was correct) and got this issue taken care of for 1/2 cost of dealer. Hope they keep up the good work at a fair price. ------ Took two stars off for 6/30/17 service. Got brakes and pads changed with my parts. This time I was NOT notified of a labor price difference for using own parts vs using Midas parts and dont recall if there was any difference on prior air suspension compressor change (might have been but was given the price ahead of time). I said I was going to order parts because overall quote was too high but no mention of labor increase at that point. Ended up paying over $225 labor for each front and rear vs $170 something that was originally quoted when I asked for breakdown of parts vs. labor for original eval / quote. Also, Sean called the morning I was coming to pick up to say that some of my parts had not arrived and asked if I wanted to use their parts. I declined, said use front parts that arrived, and I would follow up with UPS and supplier. By the time I got to the shop an hour later the parts had arrived / been discovered. Seemed strange... would prefer dealing with Eddie (only person i interacted with last time) over Sean in the future. Will give them a chance to earn back the two lost stars next time.

I went in for a routine brake service, found out I needed $1000 in repairs. An hour before I was to come back and pick up the car they called me and told me I needed an additional $250 of repairs or they could not continue with the brake service. I accepted, and showed up an hour later. They told me that they did not have a part in service and had to send out for it and that it would arrive in an hour so I waited at the store. An hour later when the part arrived it was for the wrong side of the car, so they sent out for it again. I waited there for an additional hour and the part once again was wrong when it had arrived. It was 6PM at this time and they had to keep my car overnight and order out for another part in the morning. I had brought the car in at 11AM. I was so completely disgusted with the service that I was given $89 off of a $1300 total. A mere 6% customer satisfaction return, unacceptable. I argued for over half an hour with the person at the desk until they agreed to give me another 4% to make it an even 10% which I feel is still low. I have not seen the 4% yet and it has been over 3 weeks, I HATE this place, I warn everyone that is interested in going here that this place is awful and not worth your time or money.

So... we had these guys try to figure out why the car wouldnt start. I suggested maybe the alternator was shot... After days in the shop, swapping a battery (we werent charged when they swapped it back - our battery was 2 months old), they figured out it was actually the alternator. While replacing it, they disconnected our radio somehow and refused to just get the power working to it again. They refused to do anything about it, and referred me to a DIFFERENT SHOP to get it fixed. Needless to say I was furious and I will never use this place again. Nothing about the service was courteous timely or even at a "poor level" - it was "sub-poor", miserable at every point. I wasted 3 days dealing with what I view as a relatively simple problem. If the service was remotely polite, I think my frustration level could have been MUCH lower, even with their disconnection of our radio.

**WARNING** Unethical! I went into Midas today for a routine oil change. Once the oil change was complete, I was told i needed over $800 in service and I needed new tires. (Note: I had no tire or service issues prior to the visit) I declined the purchase of new tires, drove home, and when I returned to my vehicle an hour later, I noticed one of my tires were very close to being flat. (Coincidence?) The mechanic blamed it on a nail that apparently appeared during the oil change and refused to provide any assistance (other then me purchasing a new tire). I did not have this problem before entering Midas, but inconveniently have the problem now that I have visited Midas. I now have to purchase a new tire, but it will not be from Midas in Stamford!

I have had several dealings with this place, but Im going somewhere else in the future. If all you need is brakes and rotors, or a few exhaust pieces, youll be fine. However, keep in mind that they always attempt to skim off some easy repairs that they notice during inspections once they get the car up on the lift -- some work may be necessary, some not so much. I would avoid at all costs letting them attempt major repairs of any kind such as rear end or exhaust manifold work, They just dont have the people for it. They gave up on one of my repairs and referred me to a dealership. The work they attempted and failed on left my car worse off than it was before I took it in.

I went in last week for a squeaking noise on the rear passenger side. They told me my coil spring was broken and that they only fix them in pairs, that I would need struts AND coils replaced on the back, for a total of $1100. Fortunately I declined because I didnt have that kind of money and just figured I would go ahead and spring for a new car (my car is old, so its starting to have one problem after another). Took the car today for a car wash to spruce it up for trade in and the noise stopped! So I went to my mechanic here in Queens and guess what? The coil spring is NOT BROKEN. I dont even have the vocalbulary to describe this kind of place.

Terrible Place, Highly Unprofessional... I went for a simple battery replacement. Steve, the manager, treated me extremely rudely. He wouldnt answer how long it would take to get to my car and after 1 hour of waiting could not tell me where I was in line to be seen. He then tells me that some battery terminals needed to be changed and quoted $10 to me. He actually ended up charging me $40 (because in the estimate he decided not to include labor cost). It took 2 1/2 hours to get my battery changed and it cost me double the initially estimated price. Dont go here. They are money hungry and dont care about good service.

The car care and consulting that I have received from Sean and Fritz at this Midas has been incredible. I have taken both of my vehicles to this Midas many times, and the quality of care and expertise has been well above what I am used to experiencing at other locations. Recently, I had an issue with one of my vehicles that is a costly fix. With the help of Fritz and Sean, I was able to understand the issue completely, evaluate the risks and cost, and make the best plans for my vehicle repair schedule. I would highly recommend this location to anyone looking for quality vehicle repair from experienced professionals.
