I had a scheduled appointment to get a passport at the Dover USPS. When Josie called me back to start the application, I presented all the documents which the US Passport @ International Travel listed on their website as approved IDs, (I had my Military ID, Out of State ID, Exp. Drivers Licenses, Marriage Licenses, Birth Certificate, SS#, Exp. SS# in my maiden name, a current bill in my name) but Josie stated I didnt have a DE ID and refused to proceed. I tried to explain I am Military Dependent and I dont need a new License nor is that a requirement by the US Passport & Travel. She still refused stating its the Passports requirement (Which US Passport call center agent verified at a later time it is NOT a requirement) She told me to go get an ID with my current address on it. I called back and talked with Randi, who was extremely rude over the phone and also argued about the DE ID. I explained I already contacted US Passport and verified, not to mentioned obtained two passports earlier from Smyrna Post Office for my children with the same docs and had no issue. Not to forget my husband received his passport without a DE ID right before he deployed recently. She told me to come back in but "It will just get rejected" Just to verify I was correct with my documents, I contacted my Aunt who is a Postmaster In California. She stated I had more than enough documents to proceed with the application. And was shocked with my treatment. I returned only a few hours later with the printed Gov. Docs to show what the requirements were and basically was ready for an argument to prove I was in the right. Instead I had a very helpful lady who helped me apply (Lisa) and told me I had the proper documents. I am very grateful to Lisa. She was very professional, kind and efficient. I will say I definitely felt I was a victim of discrimination for being a military spouse. Its hard enough for your family while one is deployed and its ever more stressful when people are not providing good customer service for whatever reason. But how I was treated and how I had to find verification and validate my documents were corred is extremely frustrating. My hope is Randi and Josie are reeducated and retrained. So in the future another military spouse or person isnt treated the way I was. I do also feel these two people should be trained in proper customer service, to better themselves as an employee. Or seek other careers where customer service isnt the main purpose. Furthermore, the document which they handed me stating I needed a "Drivers License with current state and current address" is not a legal government sanctioned form/document. It was typed out and copied with no ref. code listed on the bottom left hand corner; US Passport stated they should never be handing out that unsanctioned information but to provide the US Passport website with the required Identification checklist on it to customers. My suggestion is seek another post office or print off the US Passport & International Travel Identification Requirements for Passports when you are ready for your appointment. So if there are any issues you can state the Primary ID is listed here as approved and the Secondary ID is also approved.

Yet again a package scheduled online for pickup at my house and its raining so it didnt get picked up. Now Ill get dinged by eBay for late shipping. I knew I wouldnt be able to get to the post office before they closed so I scheduled a pick-up. Maybe saying its on the front porch is to obvious of a location. Last time it rained they left all of my packages and mail on the back step in the rain! We wont go into the number of things that are damaged because they shove them in my mailbox that could be left at my door. Or the crap that they shove in there and use a rubber band to hold the door of the box shut. I go to Camden-Wyoming when I need to go inside of a post office because Dover employees are so rude. It took them two weeks to approve my application for a box at Camden...because Dover was holding up the paperwork!

Absolutely the worst post office Ive ever been to in my life. If you are planning to do buisness at this location please rethink and go to another post office. If you do go to the dover location you will soon find out that your experience will be a nightmare with the unorganization from a very rude staff. I had to come back 4 times to get my familys Passports taken care of....only to come back for the forth time to have a post office clerk roll their eyes at me. Spent nearly $600.00 at this location. Remember government employees......you are not God. Remember that. If I could rate 0 stars I would. Oh yeah one more thing.... if you want to be hassled by people begging for money as soon as you walk through the door....this is the place for you!!!

I know in general post offices get a bad rap, but this post office had great employees with excellent customer service skills. My wife and I waited in line with my 6 month old son for 2 hours to submit his 1st application for a passport. You may think, why would he rate this place 5 stars for a two hour wait, but is because the systems and staff in place kept use at ease. All staff were friendly, collecting and copying information from all customers to speed up the process. There were cookies and deserts while you waited in line. Lastly, all the employees were smiling and friendly dealing with a long line of people. Hats off to this post office and if you need passport services done in Delaware, get it done at this location.

I ordered a copy of my diploma, which was mailed out on Monday from the Department of Education, right here in Dover. Its now Sunday, and I still havent received it. I needed this by tomorrow to start my new job. I was also on unemployment, leading up to me getting my new job. I lost my unemployment temporarily a little over a month ago because I didnt get a letter for almost two weeks after it was mailed, and again it happened with another letter from DoL that was time sensitive. I had five days from the date on the letter to complete something. I finally recieved the letter at the end of the fifth day. I hate having to write a bad review, but Dover is so small.

Its been a nightmare. Had to get my box rekeyed. Found out almost two weeks later that they rekeyed somebody elses box. Received a call shortly after, no message left. I returned the call within ten minutes, and was put on hold for a half hour. With nobody ever picking up the phone again. Apartment complex then receives the keys to the wrong box last week. I go back today, and am told that they now have no locks left, and may not have any for several weeks or a month, but they can give me no answer. In the mean time I can fill out paperwork to have my mail held, which is funny because i had done that weeks ago and it was ignored. Fantastic experience.

I am so freaking mad at the Dover post office. I have a package in one of those community mail boxes. The freaking lock is broken. I cannot get my package I report this broke lock personally to our mailman before. This is not the first time we have had problems with mail being left in other people boxes. I called the postmaster in Washington DC, when $57000 check from the insurance company left in my neighbor boxes for days a few years ago. He left them on my stoop all wet.
