One of the worst gyms in DC. Machines are all old- overcrowded to the max! Literally no parking at all, all parking garages close during rush times and street parking is not allowed during rush hour or in morning. Front desk staff unhelpful and gives wrong information. There is a sauna, but no steam room even if management says there is. Coming from equinox I may be biased but I have checked out other gyms including other locations (all have been okay other than this one). I won this membership in a charity and even though Ive been several times to different locations no one can ever help with setting up the package or personal training. I hate to complain as I have never yelped negative thoughts- but I hope this helps in gym shopping and helps management pull together.

After moving to DC 3 years ago, Balance was the first place I felt comfortable and a "good fit" for me! It is great because it is big enough to provide lots of different workout equipment, personal training and a variety of classes, but small enough where everybody know your name and provides fabulous encouragement. For someone that has struggled with weight and staying fit and healthy, Balance has been amazing in helping me start to reach my goals! I do personal training with Ben and also try other classes. I have been a member at other gyms in DC, and have neve been happier as I am with Balance. It is affordable and worth every penny! There are a variety of different ages and workout abilities. The personnel at Balance are able to accomodate everybody! It is awesome!

Balance Gym ROCKS! If you want to train free from the fussy, “see and be seen” attitude that permeates many area gyms, this is the place to be. The facility is open and airy, with an awesome roof deck, several class spaces and a separate CrossFit studio. The staff is friendly (SO rare in DC gyms) and the trainers know their stuff! They’re also helpful, fun, and incredibly motivating (shout out to AC, Ben, and Andrew). I’ve never experienced a gym where the staff is so invested in their clients. They’re not just about collecting your monthly dues. They’re about getting you into the gym, getting you moving, and helping you achieve your fitness goals.

Ive been lifting here for about 3 weeks, and so far my experience has been great. Ive spent most of my time in the strength training room, so that is what Im reviewing. The equipment is great. 8 Rogue squat stands, deadlifting platform, no shortage of Standard steel plates and various bumper plates, plenty of barbells, dumbells I think up to 150, and the usual machines. The atmosphere in this room is whats most valuable - there are several competing powerlifters here, and there is serious lifting going on. Positive attitudes, encouragement, respect. This is one of 4 floors, including an entire floor dedicated exclusively for their crossfit program.

I started working out at Balance Gym in Kalorama location when they first opened. They taught me everything I know about working out. Before I would fiddle around with light weights and bore myself with the tedium of cardio machines. After trying their bootcamps and doing some personal training, I completely changed my routine for the better. When they opened up in Thomas Circle, I started going to their lunch-time boot camp. The instructors are knowledgable, positive and encouraging. The quality of their classes is what make this place such a steal. They also have a boxing ring, which I havent tried, but it looks like a lot of fun.

Ive been working out fairly consistently since high school, and Balance Gym is by far the best gym Ive ever belonged to. The equipment is great, the facilities are clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Two years ago I was in the middle of cancer treatments for Lymphoma. When my treatments were done, due to the meds and all the inactivity I was in the worst physical shape of my life. With help from Cali on training, nutrition help from Melissa, and all the encouragement from Mark, Tony, and Stacy Im back to being in the best shape of my life. Give em a shot - you wont be sorry!

For everyone out there searching for a phenomenal gym, this is the place for you. Balance Gym in DC is extremely nice, clean, full of brand new state of the art equipment, and some of the most amazing result producing trainers you can find. If youre looking to have a great body, develop a healthy way of eating, and all around self improvement, I encourage you to check them out today! I highly recommend them these washington dc personal trainers and if you want to really feel sore the next day join their boot camp and crossfit classes.

I love the bootcamp classes! How else can you get a sore-the-next-morning feeling in a mere 45 minute class? Trainer Devin (6pm Tues and Thurs) leads us through a thorough warm-up and straight into a one to two high intensity workouts. And if its nice out, the whole class is held on the gyms new roof deck! Well-priced, clean, and unlike some other "too-cool-to-sweat" gyms in DC, this one supports a friendly and encouraging fitness environment.

If you are looking for a gym to really train, that has an environment that motivates you this is the right place for you. They have several floors and rooms with different equipment , each dedicated to its own area. There is a lot of rogue squat racks , which is super cool because you never have to wait if you want to do your main lifts or do compounds and functional stuff at the same time.

I joined this gym with my wife about a year ago after seeing how well kept the place is, and how professional the staff and trainers conducted themselves. We’ve been doing our evening work outs ever since, and I must say, the ties we’ve made with the people here are just beyond words. One of the best gyms in DC, without a doubt.

Great facility, but is hit or miss depending on trainer. My advice is to ask for one of the better certified more highly licensed trainers especially if you have specific needs. Everyone is very nice but there is a huge difference between the top tier trainers and the more newbie trainers when it comes to knowledge and ability.

I personal train with Ben at Balance Thomas Circle, and I have really learned how to work out. He pushes you hard and I have become much more fit and noticed a difference within a few sessions. I have also taken the boot camp, boxing and pole pressure classes here, all of which I highly recommend!

I started out training in a gym with reverence for the lifting. No music, only the sound of weights clanking. The Gym trainers here are just as committed, yet the experience of the place is A LOT more fun. Most importantly, its a better work out than I used to get back then. Its excellent.

Fantastic gym. Have been a member since 2012 (Thomas Circle location) and been happy the whole time. Plenty of squat racks and places to perform olympic lifts. GREAT membership options especially compared to the bloodsucking national chain gyms.

Really awesome gym! Lots of squat racks and bars on the second floor. First floor is just for cross fit but the rest of the building is for regular gym members. They also have personal training in a separate studio right on 14th Street.
