A good gym for the serious lifting enthusiast. On the positive there is plenty of equipment for almost any fitness level or type of competitor. All the equipment worked including the cardio machines. This place has produced a ton of power lifters and even more BB competitors. The pictures on the walls are better than any website portfolio. Id say the 25$ cost for a week pass is money well spent. On the downside, there are virtually no mirrors in the main gym and zero in the power lifting area for those wishing to concentrate on form. The equipment especially the dumb-bells show much use and are in need of maintenance. I had to hand tighten every one I picked up. (Not a single allen wrench in sight) Think safety here. Do you want an 85lb dumb-bell coming apart on you in the middle of a lift? The free-weight benches are almost all incline. No decline for free-weights and only one fixed flat bench by the dumb bells. The one flat/incline bench is a bottle-neck for those waiting to use it. On the upside there is no shortage of bench-press equipment. Overall I enjoyed my workout. The staff (all but one) are attentive and friendly. The patrons are above average and I met plenty of fit-minded friendly folks. No lunks or gym-bunnies. I look forward to using Colosseum my next trip to Columbia.

One of the few serious gyms in the area. If you are interested in improving your performance or appearance, and you are serious about making progress, this place is for you. Basic equipment, but pretty much everything you need. Powerlifter and bodybuilder friendly (this gym provides chalk and space to get your work done), but members and staff welcome all. Membership is limited to keep the crowds down. They gave me a free week (ended up two) to come in and train to make sure I liked it. One of the few places youll find specialty bars and a prowler. They get the big things right, but also the little things, there are towels in the locker room, for instance (no charge!)

This gym is legit as hell. Lots of assisted weight lifting equipment, but also a room in the back full of squat racks, bar bells and weights. Compared to the Columbia gyms which are overpriced and full of superfluous add-ons, having somewhere to just run on a treadmill and lift some weights is excellent. Price is pretty cheap too. When I mentioned to the owner I was moving out of Columbia to go to UMBC he offered me a massive discount. I dont know if thats a policy or just a deal he cut with me but either way, that was really cool of him. I used the Columbia gyms for a while but I honestly like this one way better. I do miss the racquetball courts though.

I trained at the Colosseum for more than 5 years with a personal trainer. The owners were very courteous and friendly and make you feel very welcome. If youre looking for a gym with a swimming pool or a beauty salon the Colosseum is not for you. The Colosseum is a top notch fitness facility which caters to every type of athlete from the recreational to the professional. The Colosseum allows athletes, body builders and power lifters to preform technical lifts and advanced techniques that other gyms will not allow. I highly recommend giving them a try. This gym is great for powerlifting, weightlifting, strongman, and bodybuilding. They have lots of specialty equipment and barbells that you wont find at other gyms. It can get crowded at times. There are 4 deadlift platforms, some of which can double as a weightlifting platform. There are two power racks by EliteFTS, two more squat racks, and a few squat stands. Five flat benches, one incline bench, one decline bench. There are atlas stones, farmers walk bars, axles, and kegs. There is much more equipment, but these are just a few items off the top of my head.

Easily the best gym in the Columbia region for training--be it in a group, individually, or with trainers. Tim and his staff do an outstanding job of creating an awesome environment for making progress. This is not a spa or a fitness center. This is a gym. Be prepared to get dirty. Be prepared to sweat. Sign up here, go, and dont look back. Update: They have expanded into the spaces next door to them and are now better than ever with more equipment and space. Love it.

Nice place, lots of space, lots of equipment, and nice staff. Dont expect a planet fitness or lifetime fitness vibe, there will be ego lifting, chalk, and tight shirts. Its a down to earth honest gym with a gritty feel. The equipment is maintained but just barely in some cases, torn padding, frayed cables on the cable pulls, bent pins on the squat cages. They also offer $10 day passes which is great if youre just passing through.

I love Colosseum! After wasting time at Planet Fitness and similar gyms Ive finally found a gym full of motivation. This place is the real deal! I dont think I could ever go back to a commercial gym again. Colosseum has everything you need and even at its peak hours theres never a wait for machines or equipment. Im two months into my groupon intro deal and Ill be joining for life once its up!

I got the 3 month Groupon membership wtih Colosseum Gym and loved the wide variety of weights and equipment this gym had. There were always staff on hand, and never really had to wait for any weights or equipment while there. Never had a single issue, and the towel service was really handy as well. Stop by today!

The Colosseum Gym is an old school gym with just plan and simple, free weights, machines, and cardio. I think this is a great gym. It is always clean, Ive never had to wait on a piece of machine, I have not had any problems with my bills and anytime I need help or have a question someone is there to help.

My favorite gym in Columbia to get away from it all and really focus on my workout - the staff are friendly, the gym is really chill, and solid lifting/cardio equipment. Theres also an area for stretching/PT/Medballs/Ab work. Nice locker area too!

Been there a little over a year now. Great place for serious powerlifters, strongmen, bodybuilders and regular joes. Towel service is nice. Ive never used the trainers but there are a lot and they seem to get results. Nothing bad that I can say.
