When I saw all the favorable reviews, I just had to write something. First of all, this is a family Y. Kids all over the place. If that is what you are looking for, read no further. If not read on. I am Male so my observations will pertain to that locker room only. COLD! As in cold air runs through the locker room vents in the winter time. The water in the showers is difficult to adjust, coming on freezing cold and when the handle is nudged just a little it becomes scalding hot. There have been times when I have had all showers on trying to get just one at the right temp. Water at sinks is difficult to get hot enough to shave. The locker room is cramped with men bringing in their preschool daughters (even though there is a family change room) making it a difficult situation. I swim. There are two pools. This is a fact but not the truth. One pool is occupied by a swim team seemingly 24/7 or it is just not open. The water is COLD!!!!! I know swimmers like cold water but it is ridiculous here. In short, if you want a family Y this is your place. Otherwise try the Y on Front St in Hbg.

I used to belong to Golds Gym and planet fitness. I recently became married and my husband belonged to the YMCA and told me that he would like to give up my membership and join with him. It was the best move I made. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Dorothy (front desk) gave my husband and I a tour. She explained the classes, the childcare, the pool etc. I can do everything I did at Golds and planet plus more at no additional cost and all in one place. My family have decided that we would make this our recreational time as well as fitness. We are u to matey pleased. They even have a wet and a dry sauna, hot tub and pool. Sold!

I am cancelling my membership. The place is filthy. There was hair floating in the pool wednesday and friday.They let people in the pool without taking showers. Which is a State law. There is ceiling missing in the pool area. There is peeling paint. There is missing floor tiles in the pool and the walls. The mens shower has a vent that has dirt all over it. It does not look like it was ever cleaned. The running track/walking track needs updated. The locker room needs updated. The membership fee is $42.99 a month for one person.

This is a great facility with lots of potential. However, it is not run very well. For example, both pools are often in use at the same time for classes and events, leaving nowhere for families to swim. Unfortunately, they do not indicate this on their online schedule. To the contrary, they actually show the pools as open online. You do not know until you arrive and are ready to get in that there is either nowhere to swim or ridiculously limited area. This makes for very disappointed kids!

Wonderful place to go for the whole family! To comment on the pool access, my family and I swim there almost every weekend and there is always open swimming at pool A with sufficient space for those who want to play or swim laps. The kids adore the waterpark area. The down side is that the hours have changed for the waterpark, theyre now 9am-12pm and 5pm-7pm. All in all though a sufficient amout of play time is available!

This is the best Y Ive ever been to. The equipment selection is astounding. They have all kinds of things Ive never even seen before. Its very spacious and even when its very busy theres tons of room and equipment to go around that youre not waiting for no reason. I travel frequently for work so Ive been to nearly a dozen Ys in the past several years. This one is exceptionally a cut above.

This is the greatest YMCA. The one in Harrisburg is run down and the one on the West Shore is very nice looking. Outside and inside. Very clean and staff are wonderful.
